Is this even real news? I couldn't see any mention of this on the embassy link provided in the OP

If real, why would anyone over 50 apply as a condo owner when you can get an O-A visa that requires 800k baht equivalence in your own country bank account rather than 3 million baht in Thailand

You can get that O-A visa, but it doesn't give you the right to travel to Thailand now.

Sorry but I think you are not completely correct.

Some digital nomads will not need a work permit, other will need one.

One who is working online for a foreign company, not necessarily needs a work permit.

    https://www.thaiembassy.com/travel/digital-nomads-working-in-thailand.php

A digital nomad works on his online shop in a co-working space.

Answer: The digital nomad is allowed to manage his online shop during the duration of his stay in Thailand without a work permit. Even if some of his customers are in Thailand, he is just continuing to do something he was doing before he came to Thailand anyway. However, if his products or market are mainly from Thailand, then YES this is considered to be work and it is a concern

The catch is in the footer of this website: " This is NOT the official website of the Thai Embassy."

"if you receive a salary/wage from abroad" then you are working in Thailand and need a visa to match and a work permit.

Is there a visa/work permit for people living in Thailand but working abroad?  I don't believe so.

And is it possible to pay tax if you work illegally abroad (online for example) but live in Thailand?  It means you have to pay tax on something you are not allowed to do.

It is....you either have to pay tax to the US or to Thailand. Stop paying US taxes and your next passport renewal won't go as easily as you might anticipate.

With a US passport you have to pay tax on your world income. Fortunately this is not the case for people from other countries.

Usually you have to pay tax in the country where you stay for more than half a year.

I often read positive comments about CurrencyFair on the web, but rarely see it mentioned on this forum

    And xe.com  https://www.xe.com/mt/eu-money-transfer

I compared the rates with Transferwise, their exchange rate is a bit worse, but no transfer fee. And they say it is only from Europe to other countries.

For amounts up to E 100 xe.com is a bit cheaper, after that it's better to use Transferwise. That was at the moment I compared them.

sorry but the poor Thais who need money dont buy imported products. They are happy if they can just buy food.

As for lower tax rate.. not smart when you already got a huge deficit in your budget.

No, poor Thais don't buy imported goods. And maybe that is the problem. All the money in the hands of 8 families. In other countries all people buy imported goods. But in Thailand this is not possible.

And that huge deficit in the budget you can also solve in other ways. Many countries do that in other ways. I think all countries do that in other ways. But for some reason the Thai government can only tax imported goods.

Yes, some idiots would readily believe in your claim that the CPC keeps its people down and uneducated.

I think when he talked about "uneducated" he refers to the 100% blockade of every news source outside of China. He probably also thinks about China blocking all social media, chatapps etc. Basically everything is blocked in China. The regime doesn't want Chinese people to hear about other opinions. And what is left is an uneducated and brainwashed population.

Is Thaivisa already blocked in China?  If we continue here like we do now it will happen soon.

When you talk land grab, I kind of link that to the Mexican Cession of the 1840s. Huge chunk of Mexico grabbed by USA. Bet you forgotten about that. Land rights of the local Mexicans abolished after the land grab.

When I read your reply I kind of link that to whataboutism. This article is not about the US but about China.

Could you explain to me how putting money in the hands of who need it change the baht ? you do know how a currency exchange works. It has not much to do with putting money in the hands of people.

It has all to do with the demand for the currency. (imports - exports - interest rate)

I love to see your explanation

More money in the hands of people -> more imports -> lower baht.

They could also lower import tax so the demand for foreign products will increase.

Or I’ve just got too many “friends in low places”

    That.

The Thai people I know usually make between 40k and 50k a month.

But the ones I know are also in debt, mortgage for a condo, a loan for a new car etc. Not much money left for travelling.

But Bangkok surprises me often. Saw a new restaurant in our soi, really too expensive for what they offer. In my mind I gave them a couple of months before they would close. But when I walk by I see that they have a lot of clients, every evening again. Most people in Bangkok are poor. But some of them are rich, a small percentage. But in a city with 8 million people it is still a big group.

They times they have changed the interest the effects were nowhere near the change they want (2bt to the dollar). I am not sure if you have seen the response when they lowered it ? At most like half a baht of difference.

But even after lowering it, the interest is still better than a negative interest rate. I mean, for banks with billions on their balance sheet, half a percent more or less makes a very big difference.

Same for companies importing things into Thailand getting their money in TBH. Would you exchange that to Euro's now and transfer it to a EU country, knowing that you have to pay a negative interest rate? Or maybe it's better to keep your money in Thailand where you get at least 0.5% ?

I am also curious how Thailand can be a gold exporter. Do they have an unlimited supply of it they can sell again and again?

I think my choice has to be between True or 3BB due to where I live, but the question is......is there any noticeable difference between 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps, if there are, what are those differences? All I do is watch tv and do not play any internet games etc.

Probably you will only notice a difference when downloading large files. And you will only notice that difference if the server you are downloading from allows you to download at 200 mbps.

I use for example Microsoft Onedrive. Speeds are seldom higher than 10-20 mbps. At that moment the speed of your internet connection makes no difference at all.

I have 40 mbps. I work online, the television is on all day, many devices like phones are connected. I use voip to make phone calls. I download, also large files. But it happens in the background. I never felt the need to look for something faster.

Things like reliability, uptime etc are much more important.

  13. Some of these youtubers become celebrities, at least for their viewers. They build some kind of image, hanging around in bars with the ladies doing live chats. The viewers, watching from their home country and feeling bored are trying to imagine being there. Just like their hero. They want to be part of it too, and making a donation maybe helps a bit to feel so.

That is my explanation. I once saw a youtuber in a Pattaya bar doing a live chat. He was drinking beer surrounded by some bargirls, and made a couple of hundred USD in 1 evening.
