  1. He should be urging the government to get tough with all law breakers full stop, both foreign and local and especially with government employed people who scam millions from their own people and others! Given how wide spread it is you would think he would feel guilty given that the RTP are often at the centre of scams but no, just single out the foreigners! Until attitudes like this change Thailand will always be economically dependent on tourism related revenue and on the brink of third world status if they do not address corruption, especially from the law makers who are most likely the biggest offenders and the very people who are supposed to enforce the law!
  2. What a lot of BS, it will cost more to implement this system and collect it than they will make. I recently imported 2kg of blueberry concentrate which is in powder form, I got charged THB 3,500 duty and taxes which means Thailand charges 30% import duty on food. Most countries dont have import taxes on food, just GST or VAT. So that probably means from now on parcels coming via Thai Post office from outside the country will require a trip to the PO to collect your goods. They must be getting desperate for revenue!
  3. What a lot of rubbish, I think half of the Thai population suffer from post traumatic stress!
  4. Sorry guys, I got my hospitals mixed up, its King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital on Silom road.
  5. Then if you are a doctor and should have good ethics then why dont you politely suggest this to the guy!
  6. BNH is a very good government hospital on Silom Rd, I believe there is one of Thailands leading Uroligists practicing there, another option is Bangkok Christian hospital, a private hospital also on Silom road and a lot less expensive that Bumrungrad. Saint Louis Hospital is also worth considering if you are on a budget.
  7. There are many of us on this forum that have personal experiences with prostate related issues so what is wrong with sharing your experiences which may help the guy. If you dont agree with it then just dont comment, keep your thoughts to yourself!
  8. In 1985 I was at a cattle ranch in a place called Safia half way between Port Moresby & Poppendetta, I had finished the days work and was having a beer with the manager when a kanaka came staggering out of the bush covered in blood. One of the villagers had gone crazy (longlong) in the village in the nearby mountains, he had killed 13 and hacked up a few others with a machete. The manager who was an Aussie got on the radio and called up the riot squad in Lae which was about an hour away by chopper to come and arrest the guy and take the injured to haus sick! Hospital! I am seeing more of this type of crazy stuff in Thailand in the 5 years I have been here which reminds me of early days in PNG, life is cheap! Also reading today on this forum about the English back packer couple murdered in Koh Tao in 2014 & blamed on the 2 Burmese boys makes you wonder where the Thailand justice system is heading!
  9. Typical of Chinese & Thai safety standards, sadly its not the first and certainly will not be the last crane related fatality's!

    Disgusted

Sadly their is no shame from Thai's !!
  11. Why does he need to transit through Thailand, plenty of flights to Laos from other countries?
  12. Well they have been fighting each other for the last 100 years with various interventions from neighbours and the west so I am not sure how beautiful that era would have been! Probably better than the status quo but who knows, nearly every leader in the last 100 years was either killed or overthrown so Afghanistan and turmoil seem to go hand in hand!
  13. That's one very evil <deleted> head, the Afghans had their chance and they pretty much blew it. Hopefully they will piss Putin off and he will invade them with his new mighty army and all the recently manufactured arms he has been making to fight the Ukraine!
  14. I cannot believe Americans, their country never prospered under Obama, just started wars, Trump despite his outspoken sometimes rather crazy statements got the economy going, lowered unemployment, stopped global tensions just to name a few. The Biden administration opened the southern borders, raised unemployment, raised the cost of living, changed laws to protect perpetrators and did little to stop global tensions! I hope Kennedy steals many dem votes and Trump is reelected! Which US states are doom & gloom and which are economically sound, Texas & Florida comes to mind for the success's and California as a failure, yes there are many more but thats just off the top of my head and I am not American and have only visited. Best state in my visits was Florida!
  15. "Overall, Obama's active involvement in Biden's campaign reflects both his concern for Biden's electoral success and their strengthened partnership in pursuit of shared political goals" You mean concerned for their own skins & personal financial gains! Its time to drain the swamp, just make sure you include the Clintons!
  16. Not true that he is a "do-nothing" PM Spidermike, he talks and travels a lot!!!
  17. Its a global agenda, not just Australian's who are probably better off than most! The current system is not self sustaining and globally most countries populace will fall further into poverty except the elite who will as always benefit from the demise of the masses! The banking system is geared to break us unless you are part of it, the food chain is becoming more toxic & expensive by the day and so it goes on! The electric vehicle clean energy agenda has a larger carbon foot print than those that run on fossil fuels, another con!. A number of good leaders with a vision were removed because they wanted to change these things for the better but the elite didnt want that when they were getting by the day. JFK assassinated by his own VP and law enforcement agencies, September 11 World trade centre, how many innocent people killed, a precursor to invade Iraq with the further false claim of WOMD, what a disgrace! The destabilisation of the Middle East, firstly Iraq and now look how its spread, the Covid scam and what happened to leaders who opposed the WHO's filthy agenda instigated by people like Bill Gates who controls the foundation which is the largest WHO donor! Until these instigators & perpetrator's who have intentionally carried out these atrocities to further their financial gains are dealt with there will be no improvements. Russia, Israel, Myanmar, Yemen wars should all be stopped, Hamas should be held accountable & Israel withdraw from the Palestinian enclave, Russia should withdraw from the Ukraine and honour the long established border, Isis should be eradicated as they have further destabilised the Middle East, the USA and to a lesser extent Britain has a lot to answer for on the global stage, especially their presence in the Middle East which has been destabilising almost since the end of WW11. China should be halted in its continual land grabs from most of its neighbours and their continual illegal fishing practices. This is just the tip of the iceberg so when you ask yourself why the populace is getting poorer it will continue to do so until the agenda is eradicated.
  18. Yes it is their country and their rules but the problem is the privileged few including the RTP dont live by the rules they swore to uphold and this is where Thailand will come unstuck. Yes thats their problem but its the workers & poorer people of Thailand who loose out so why should the "elite" and people in places of authority keep breaking the very rules they are supposed to be enforcing. Corruption will be Thailands downfall.
  19. Yes thats very true but do you really think they are going to get their snouts out of the trough?
  20. Just get on with tending to Thailands real problems, Thaksin will do what he wants to do regardless!
  21. Certainly there have been a few unsavoury incidents carried out by foreigners but you can't have your cake and eat it at the same time, there will always be incidents with so many foreigners visiting the Kingdom. The offenders should be punished accordingly based on the facts of the crime. Meanwhile many shootings, bashings, rapes, extortion and the involvement in various scams by thais including the RTP & Monks which often goes unpunished. If you have a society that permits its law makers to consistently break the very laws they are supposed to uphold then this is the result.
  22. I firmly believe china only does things that will benefit china mostly at the partners expense, Thailand will get shafted! Also hard to believe that the interconnecting 7.3 km link will cost over USD 400M per kilometer, someone is going to get very rich!
  23. That's refreshing if thats the case! I didnt notice any dual pricing when I was last in Vietnam but its certainly still very apparent here in Thailand from street markets to haircuts!
