  1. There are several different forms of taxes with varying changes but overall there should be a price reduction for imported alcohol. Some taxes on products like wine have been changed to 5% per bottle across the board where as previously under 1,000 baht a bottle it was zero and over 1,000 was 10%. 54% import duty has been dropped to zero, import duty based on alcohol/volume has been reduced from 1500 per litre to 1000 baht. I too haven't seen any price reductions which probably means the retailers are like many others making up for the difficult covid era!!! Prices should drop once importers have cleared their existing warehouse stock with the new rates applying from March 14th 2024. So your comments are correct Bob despite the comments from some on this forum!
  2. Yes you are quite right, most countries allow this but Thailand has a Xenaphobic and third world country mindset. It would hugely benefit Thailand to allow foreigners to own land plots with restrictions without having to spend millions like the current situation.
  3. Maybe you should do some research before making condescending statements towards others!
  4. Yes dead right, many of these unlawful migrants somehow get to vote under the Biden administration. You can't fix stupid!!!
  5. Is it April fools day or am I missing something here!
  6. I suppose WHO & Big Pharma will be pushing for a Pandemic and another scam Vaccine instigated by the likes of the Gates Foundation & the Fauci mob gangsters! They need to make a few more billion$$$
  7. Remember the common inaccuracy of Thai reporting and I guess any responsible pilot would react to a warning light illuminating mid flight and get the plane on the ground before the issue escalates into something more serious.
  8. Bangkok Taxi fare much cheaper than many developed countries but not the cheapest in the region!
  9. On another note after all the ranting from the key board warriors, declaring 111 million baht loss yet the accumulated region losses of less than 20 million, am I missing something here?
  10. The Taxi scenario is country wide, Thai society is riddled with corruption thats why it will always be a third world country! These practices are a negative aspect on Thailand as a whole and will always be their achillies heel!! The authorities need to get back to changing the basic structure of their society so corruption is gradually eliminated. Take a look at Singapore from 1960 to the year 2000, they went from rags to riches because they had a leader with foresight and he addressed issues from the bottom up but also led by example!
  11. That's the outcome of open visa policies and insufficient screening along with his ethnic origin!!
  12. This is where Thailand as a major tourist destination fails to provide simple basic amenities like public toilets & garbage bins!!! The authorities are forever "talking" about increasing tourism yet do not look past the $$$$ signs when it comes to providing the basics!
  13. Putin is the one invading a sovereign nation, all he has to do is completely withdraw from the Ukraine and the conflict will end.
  14. Oh Liverpool Lou knows it all, just ask him!!!
  15. Yes you are most likely correct given the nature of the beast but we live in hope that one day Thailand will find a leader that has a vision and is honest!
  16. Thailand doesn't see the bigger picture does it, there would have been little or no opposition to 300 baht being added to the price of an airline ticket and the money could have been put to good use. But Thailand would rather procrastinate over silly things like this instead of addressing real issues. The bad publicity and negative down stream effects of introducing tax on foreigners pensions and making all foreign residents complete a tax return will be huge. The cost of implementation and servicing the procedure will be greater than the revenue given Thailands love of reams of paper work and antiquated procedures plus foreigners will reconsider where to settle for retirement.
  17. Yes very true about diet, hey I think you mean Lycopene!!
  18. If you are going to consume "lots" of tomatoes remove the skin first as the skin in particular contains a chemical that will cause inflammation in your body, mainly your joints!
  19. That is a dangerous precedent to set, they need qualified experienced pilots to fill the gap whether full time or on a temporary basis but the Pilots association is to short sighted and biased to realise and admit it makes sense! Mind sets like this are the reasons why Thailand is still a third world nation in many respects!
  20. Yes very true Thailand is playing a dangerous game where as always China will be the beneficiary !!!
  21. I guess Thailands lack of infrastructure in tourist areas doesnt bother the majority of Chinese tourists, I have always believed the Thailand should be looking for tourists with a bigger spending capacity so quality rather than quantity but given the lack of very basic infrastructure in Thailand maybe they are better suited to target a lower spending tourist and leave the higher spenders to the countries that cater for them. Thailand struggles to collect garbage, has very few public toilets and no trash cans, power cuts are too frequent and water shortages need addressing. Tourist areas and beach resorts need decent public toilets with infant changing facilities, garbage bins, proper paved side walks, tourist information centres and some form of law enforcement able to communicate in English, given that English is by far the most widely spoken language. The authorities should actively police waste water disposal that beach side establishment discard directly into the oven where people swim. Currently most beachside resorts and hotels are the ones that pick up garbage on the beaches but that shouldn't be their responsibility. My point is Thailand keeps waffling on about attracting tourists and reaching financial targets yet they dont understand that in order to achieve this they are competing on the world stage so need to lift their game substantially. Thailand is a great place but they are and will continual to slide because its not the cheap destination it once was and they are severely lacking in basic amenities and services. Corruption and double pricing is in your face, taxi gouging probably the worst offender!
  22. Given the law of averages in Thailand I have changed my nationality selection!
  23. I am sure there are decent Thai women out there but Thailand certainly has its fair share of devious women. Their financial "wants" override any form of honesty, integrity and morals so stay sharp fella's, keep your bank details and wallet secured! After 9 years of marriage and believing I had a decent relationship yet my ex wife had company share holding changed in her favour, silly me for being decent & understanding and giving her & family financial security. I am now divorced but much poorer!!!
