They would use Frigates or similar for any naval conflict, the waters you mention are super shallow so not really sub territory. Why do you think there is so many squid fishing boats in the gulf and especially the area mentioned, shallow water!

Anutin or another coup which would both be a substantial step backwards for Thailand. Unbelievable Thailand, they waste billions on some ridiculous submarine purchase then have the nerve to request the people to assist when they themselves have misappropriated billions and not just on the "pink elephant" submarine which will almost certainly end as an unused disaster just like the aircraft carrier! In case of war the enemy won't need to use sonar to locate Thailands sub as it will be visible from the air given the depth in the Gulf, what a joke!! Maybe they feel the sub won't sink in bad weather like their other poorly maintained vessels and thats their logic!!

The ever inconsistent Thai reporting, yesterday its down, today its up, Chinese numbers are down, now they are up! I live in Koh Samui and I would say the overall tourist numbers were up for June & July with August looking good so one day these "bunnies" might get it right. Regarding chinese, I see very few in Samui, Chang Mai normally has more than their share of Chinese but this year I am told Chang Mai is well down. All year the media has been bleating about Chinese numbers being down but all of a sudden they lead the way so which is it or is it the usual manipulation of data to save face!!!

No the smell is on many streets & tourist locations all over the country, the cannabis shops in tourist areas are also a hotspot for the stench!!

Given the lead time in making International travel plans the Thai border dispute with Cambodia would have no noticeable effect on Thai tourist numbers, any downturn would be due to other reasons so for these reporters to suggest it had an impact is as quite often the case, absolute rubbish!! I am not surprised that places like Changmai, Pattaya & Phuket are down in arrivals, the bad publicity that constantly comes from 2 of these areas is off putting to potential tourists and until Pattaya & Phuket clean up there acts the downward trend will continue. The Chinese are not travelling and most of the Indians that do are budget tourists so again numbers maybe down but revenue is probably up given the truth be known. However Thailands current cannabis situation is more than likely deterring families which is a big market sector for this time of the year, Malaysia and Vietnam being the beneficiaries.

There is definitely truth in the first part of the article where the stench of cannabis is off putting to many and not what you would call a family environment!! Unfortunatly one drug often leads to another and attracts a different type of person to Thailand!! However the government as usual never thought this through from the start and flip flopping like they so often do is unsettling, many have already made a small fortune and many will loose which is always a business risk in countries like Thailand where laws & regulations have little basis and are frequently changed to suit those in power on the day!!

Did you really expect anything different, its had that smell about from the start. Why does Thailand need submarines, the gulf is shallow, mostly less than 50m deep. Its just another waste of the peoples money which should have been spent on much needed infastructure, education & health. Frigates or coastal patrol vessels would have been a much more sensible proposition. "Amazing Thailand"

I have a restaurant in Koh Samui where we get a few Russians of which most are families, pleasant, well behaved & are good spenders. Being a westerner there are a few cultural differences which takes a bit of getting used but overall they are quite ok so maybe we on Samui get the cream of the crop when it comes to Russians given what I read online.

It is a very complex situation, in my humble opinion I see 3 problems here, firstly Hamas needs to go, Netanyahu is difficult to say the least, the Palestinians need a home and given the hostility between the 2 parties a 2 state solution is the only way forward. Both are not the easiest to get along with so stop trying to make them coexist in a shared society!

Austrians or Australians, I say one smart Mayor!! I have had both in my restaurant and are good clients not like others from some Eastern European countries as well as Indians & Chinese who are budget spenders!! I also have good Russian customers who have different cultural standards but are quite ok!

Maybe Cambodia fired the first shots but Thai military bombing Cambodia just prior to the agreed deadline is hardly considered fair & reasonable! I guess the Thai military hierarchy is taking any opportunity it can to justify the military budget!

Yes absolutely correct, Chinese involvement on SE Asian scam centres is huge and also Thailands crackdown on scam centres and opening Casinos is money out of Han Sen pockets so he is not happy with the current Thai administration!!
