Rejection of passengers tops list of complaints about Bangkok’s cabbies
Dexxter replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
If I ever needed to catch a taxi near the red light tourist areas (Nana, Cowboy, Patpong) I would always start walking away from the area and flag down a passing cab. I would rarely use one that was standing nearby waiting for a fare. Passing cabs always turned their meters on for me. -

You may also encounter difficulties getting a visa to other countries if they ask if you have ever overstayed in ANY country. That is one of the questions asked under the "Character" section when applying for certain visas in Australia. Do not overstay.

I would rather be 1-2 hours early and relax with a coffee while waiting, then to be 5 minutes late and miss my flight. I always arrive at an airport a few hours before my flight.

Taxi Scams Remain Top Complaint Among Foreign Tourists in Thailand

The few times we used Grab the fare was substantially higher than an equivalent taxi fare would have been. To make matters even more ludicrous, the Grab car that arrived was a green and yellow taxi with the meter covered up. I always use taxis hailed on the street when possible. -

Thai and Dutch tourists robbed of valuables at Pattaya hotel

Did you know that chains can be detached with the use of a rubber band? 1. Open door but has chain stopping you going in. 2. Attach rubber band between chain and door handle using the gap between door and frame. 3. Close door and let rubber band do its thing. 4. Open door again. Look! No chain. Sometimes you may need duct tape. Sometimes a long length of knotted cord will do the trick. The solid latching types are also easily defeated. There are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how. -
