They can use their existing infrastructure and radio spectrum more efficiently and offer new types of services.

Actually they can not. Telco's have to upgrade their infrastructure to get 5G ready.

Just follow the talks i.e. about Huawei to be allowed to do so in US, Germany etc. Debates about security risks etc.

The messaging and hype is that 5G will benefit consumers. That is mostly a lie being pushed by Telco's imo.  The truth is that it benefits them and that is what they are excited about.  They can use their existing infrastructure and radio spectrum more efficiently and offer new types of services.  None of that will trickle down to consumers in the form of lower prices.  Consumers will see higher bandwidth options but only if they are willing to pay more for that higher bandwidth.  I doubt it will result in lower prices for existing services.  It will result in additional services.

5G will open a whole new world to get all possible devices and 'things' connected  ... our (digital) life will never be the same again.

You can't compare, i.e. 3G to 4G, only in terms of a bit 'faster internet', to what opens up with 5G

Unfortunately  it is you that is obsessed by caring about them and focusing on me instead of leaving your own opinion about the topic.

Well, turning it around is not a good idea. You look into your own thread history about every overstayer and then re-read it for yourself. I just replied to your many many many posts about it, to give it my 1 opinion. For the rest I have seen it now, don't care too much about it.

Be happy someone tried to explain it to you in a nice way ... what you do with it, it's up to you, as they say.

Good luck and enjoy the satisfaction of your own postings in all future daily overstayers threads, or god forbid someone broke a law in your holy 'law abiding Thailand'

What has Thailand 4.0 to do with this? They are not clear out of 1.0 yet.

Therein exactly lays your problem, in not understanding, or willing to accept the bigger picture.

In Thailand 1.0, no one gave a damn or second thought about overstayers. Not the immi's, no Thais on the street, certainly no fellow Farangs.

With 4.0 it started ... and you want so eagerly be actively part of it ... can't wait to report the next overstayer yourself, a Farang, being only a guest in Thailand! Crazy thought ha?

Maybe someday your light bulb will switch on, but I highly doubt it.

Let the gov do their job and stay out of it ... your posts reads like some of the guys from the Tourist Police you see walking around with an incorrect 'I have a uniform on' attitude ... you know what I mean.

I guess that must make me evil in some peoples eyes. But, that´s okey!

You don't get it, but it's ok.

Can you see the difference in posting something like: I don't like overstayers, they give us a bad rep and maybe are the reason for the tightening rules.

To your approach ... hang em high, scum of the earth, when I see them I report them etc. etc.

    Can you see the difference?

You are overly obsessed with it ... in every thread. It's not just an opinion you post about, that's why you repeatedly have to explain over and over again in every thread "I'm just posting my opinion" and everyone is questioning this.

It goes a bit beyond my understanding that you can't see this? Or do you just enjoy that kind of attention?

It's very weird, to say the least.

But the same posters will continue to tell you how dangerous it can be for you without a WP.

That's because it is ... too many whistleblowers around.

Maybe an angry Thai girl, but most likely a fellow expat Farang, who for whatever reason is more than happy to report you if you get into clinch with someone.

Also, you can read on this forum how many posters would be more than willing and happily report any Farang if they don't comply with the holy laws of Thailand.

I've seen an experienced threats like this in real before towards myself (only for silly voluntary work).

It's unbelievable, but those people exist and are among us.

I always used to take about 10 photos in different poses, have them printed at the local photo shop (3bht each)

Then take them all to immigration and let them make the selection they wanted.

    Never any problems.

Yes, that's what I have, too. A complete selection of all kind of different pictures, so you always get it right at the end.

My point was ... try to print this out at home and go ... you will be lucky if you don't have to change something ????

Actually you could prepare yourself, but probably you also need to show some more confidence so that they don't try to play games for you just to waste your time.

Print out the official requirements (in Thai): https://division1.immigration.go.th/content/Visa_Extension37

Bring the pictures as stipulated on this website (only on the Thai version, the English version is less specific): 2 pictures with wife outside of the house with house number, 2 pictures with wife in the house.

If the IO has a problem with the pictures tell him that's according to the immigration website and show it to him.

The IO still has a problem? Offer to call CW or the immigration bureau to confirm the requirements while you are in front of the IO, i suspect the pictures will suddenly be accepted.

I know what you mean, but this is not how it works when dealing with immi officers. You don't show them when they are wrong and have them lose their pretty face.

You are not going to argue with Immi officers when they tell you that you are wrong and shuffle them links, documents other regulations to proof yourself right etc.

That could backfire on you and doesn't make things easier when you need their help to get smoothly through the process.

They do remember you and there might be a time when you need their help. So pissing them off with a formal picture doc/regulation is not a good idea. You better go and do it again the way they want it ... on that day.

I had an instance where I needed their help when I accidentally violated my non-o by traveling without exit stamp (that was many years ago).

They fixed this up for me without the need to leave the country. Keep good relations is more important than being right or wrong.

  11. It's different every time ... as they wish & like it.

Silly 'setup' pictures with your self, wife & witness in all sorts of different & dull combo's/combinations.

Nicely setup in front of the house, living room, etc.

Next time they want 'real life acting' pictures, being together on a motorbike, events etc.

Next time you bring 'real life acts' pictures ... nope, this year they want the 'setup' pictures again.

Then they must be all single photos ... next time all on pictures on one A4 sheet. God knows what next year?

This year no witness needed at immigration at all ... brought the witness for nothing. They come for a home visit. And need

to organize the witness again, to be there on time for the immi home invasion show.

I think I had all possible combinations by now ... until they come up with a new one again.

You can be as well prepared as you want, it's a given that there will always be something wrong with the pictures and

they have you running around to the next photo shop.

They love playing that picture game ... that's the one you can't prepare a 100% for and know what they want this year.

So, the guys looking to "Go Dutch" or think they will get free accomodation or shared expenses, or whatever..

really are barking up the wrong tree in Thailand!

Going Dutch is one thing ... you are definitely on the wrong continent, part of the world, in Asia for that.

I think every man wants to provide for his girl/woman/family ... it's just the silly & costly game of being played from the girls family in the background which is the real problem.

    You are certainly better to:

    - learn some basic Thai.

    - avoid tourist zones, find suburban/local eateries/clubs/tawandangs

where working class Thais hang out.

I don't know who it was, but there was a post from someone on here a few month back ... he stayed out of the tourist areas and lived more far out, near factories, and met all the office girls when they went out with their friends in the evenings ...

He posted about this in detail and definitely had figured out the best way to meet nice girls with regular jobs, not carrying so much baggage with them or having hidden agenda's.

  14. The world is going mad ... a few days ago someone told me that there is an increasing trend in the Netherlands that ambulance helpers are getting physically attacked.

    I couldn't believe it, but true ... https://nltimes.nl/2018/04/10/suspects-violence-dutch-emergency-workers

Some people must be seriously f$# up in their minds if they make no space for ambulances, give them a finger ... or even physically attack them.

The "crackdown on oversstayers" has come from the highest level, for political reasons. Do you want to play a military junta's game for them?

I think you have hit the nail on the head here!

For as long as I can think back, overstayers never were a problem in Thailand.

They just go to immi at the airport, pay their 20k fine, 500 Baht per day, or what ever this was.

A stream of Baht coming in ...

It all indeed started for the very political reasons you have posted above and accelerated by leveraging ppl like BJ.

Overstayers are not the reason why you have all those stricter enforcements today ... it's a show to demonstrate powers.

The Thais on the street don't give an iotoa whether the guy in his bungalow hut in Phangan is on overstay or not ... as long as he

    doesn't make trouble.

"Do you want to play a military junta game for them?" ... that's really a good one to note for the whistle blowers.
