It's pass muster and cut the mustard. The former is military, meets the required standard, the latter is to reduce the strength or amount of mustard, but used to state that something or someone fails to meet a standard. No longer effective. -

Everything goes back to the government sooner or later. Old people need to be more selfish. Spend your money, downsize from the family home for more cash, spend it before the leeches get it. Inheritance is probably the most family divisive thing on the p!anet. -

You have no clue what communism is, nor do you seem to understand that a Communist leader can be entertained anywhere in the United States. Whatever happened to Macarthy, Better dead than red?

Why should there be inheritance? -
Mind you, there are megalomaniacs that use any excuse to either threaten to annex, actually annex or actually invade other countries, normally smaller and no threat at all....

Only if they continue to piss off the bigger ones. Smaller countries are not worth the bother of the bigger countries getting all riled up about. The list of countries provided prove that...

Why would Xi decide to invade Pacifica? The American threat would have been neutered, he would be quite happy with that. Small countries are no threat to the CCP. Monaco, Andora, Timor East, the Netherlands, Luxembourg to name a few...

Why do people make this a leftist or rightist thing? Does politics matter that much in the case of discussing seatbelts? Ooooh, I'm rightist and immortal so a seatbelt is for hanging my handbag on... Grow the duck up. Caring about others is also basic humanity, or perhaps rightists are immune to that too.

Ukraine Putin Agrees to Strong Security Promises for Ukraine: US Envoy

Russia sees NATO as a threat, NATO sees Russia as a threat. The common denominator is... Nato. Talk about para bloody noia. Treat people like people, politics suck. -
Ukraine Putin Agrees to Strong Security Promises for Ukraine: US Envoy

Change the bloody subject. Oh, you have, away from issues back to Trump. It's not always all about Trump. No US government is going to stop this war. Russia will keep it going for as long as they want. Then they'll stop when they want to. Guarantees shmarantees. Meaningless drivel. -
Ukraine Putin Agrees to Strong Security Promises for Ukraine: US Envoy

It's not about left or right, it's about people. They chose Ukraine. The politicians there are either Russia supporting or not. No middle ground. The people there are pro-Russian or not. Ukraine for Ukranians, Russia for Russians. Simple as. -
Ukraine Putin Agrees to Strong Security Promises for Ukraine: US Envoy
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in World News
He hasn't ended the war, not even got a ceasefire. What security guarantees? No one can do anything about Russian aggression. NATO least of all. Russia laughs at NATO, as they know NATO is toothless and will not start WW3. Russia will continue to expand, protecting Russian speakers everwhere. Perhaps deporting Russian speakers and supporters to Russia would be the only way to full the Russian Bear's claws. -

Stop the boats... How long has this been the mantra of government? Rwanda was pulled as a place to send them. This may have been sufficient deterrence. Maybe Tristan da Cunha, the Azores, Rockall... Ooh ooh how about ...... France whence they came. It's a 'safe' country, no? -
Transport Thai Airways Soars with 12 Billion Profits in Q2 2025
Scott Tracy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maintenance is specified by the manufacturer, but can be adjusted by the airline based on many factors including operational environment. It can range from a basic walk round visual inspection, daily, weekly, to a major check where the aircraft is stripped right down so all the structure can be inspected. These are normally fixed price and there's a lot of competition out there. Money's made mainly from defect rectification. I've seen many maintenance organisations go under. Maintenance costs are a substantial cost to the business. -

USA Judge Halts 'Alligator Alcatraz' Over Everglades Threat
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in World News
Even SCOTUS don't seem to execute the 'king's' bidding sometimes, despite being political appointees. Should judges, both State and Federal be elected and thus be beholden to public opinion to keep their jobs, be political appointees, dependent on the will of the appointer, for the duration of the appointment, or for as long as the appointer wills it, or should judges be independent? Agreed there is always some influence in appointments/elections/selections, but in my view, independent judiciary is important. The ability for the executive to ignore the judiciary should be removed. While no one likes to lose, the people need champions who are fair and unbiased.
