Nationwide ban on public gatherings declared in Thailand from Nov 1
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The armed forces commander can do such a thing? Jeepers. Is there no civilian government here to do that? Seems like martial law. -
I regret, I cannot help.the OP with recommendations, but do have comments with regards the abuse the OP has recieved. I respect the opinions of those who have abused the OP. You have a right to those opinions. You may even have a right to express those opinions, in the name of free speech. You do not, however, have a right to abuse the OP or his child. It saddens me.

Hacked off with cashless payment.
Scott Tracy replied to KarenBravo's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Pay by app, card or other electronic methods is fine. Got to have the funds in wherever the transfer draws it. most people found here prefer cash. Most people, if they have bank transfers of any kind, rush to the atm and take out cash. I use card in most big shops, except makro, which don't seem to accept them. Cash everywhere else. I would say, though. People searching purses/coin bags for the right money are a pain. Asking the cashier...is this 10 baht? 2 baht? Then, give them notes and oh, the cashier doesn't have change...open the change roll, ask a colleague. Getting carried away as a grumpy old man... -

Thai military feels the heat over plan for solar farm
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Isn't the army answerable to the Government? If the government is so <deleted> scared of the army having solar panels on some of its land, take the land away and let a private, or state energy company run it. Or, perhaps even more contraversially, get a grip of the army. I read that the army, or what's left of it in UK, also has their own solar power station. But the army in UK is small enough for the government not to be too concerned about them. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-58742833 -
Highly trained in command tasks. Leader of men, well, people, to be politically correct. Blooded in combat, respected by troops. A hero to such soldiers and will no doubt be a beacon to all. all civilians will fall at his feet in a swoon and submit to vaccination by his own hand.salon Sorry...got carried away. I think his PMness identified a competitor and decided to make sure he failed, and was seen to fail. I think the idea of a respected Muslim doctor is a brave one. One that could probably work. Or perhaps the Thai government should just let those provinces go.

Economist sees Thailand’s economy recovering next year
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why oh why oh why? Economists. Who gave them the job? Somebody pays them? Same as analysts, somebody pays them too? Why does anyone give them the time of day? Stop printing such errant nonsense. Please. -

Foreign Ministry denies holding up Polish Moderna donation
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yet another donation. Yet another <deleted> up. As I said before, this government has no shame. Someone tell the world donations are not needed here. Make them procure their own vaccines in the market place. -

I checked with the insurance company link and Pacific Cross still shows the original requirements. A Mandatory Requirement For Thailand Long-stay Visa Applicants The new requirements, which were approved by Cabinet in April 2019 and announced by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), state that people applying or renewing (or rather re-applying for) a Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” and “O-X” now need to have a Thai health insurance policy for the duration of the stay, with coverage for Outpatient Treatment of no less than 40,000 baht and Inpatient Treatment of no less than 400,000 baht. https://www.pacificcrosshealth.com/en/longstay-visa/ -

What side of the road does he propose they ride? Most of them ride along the hard shoulder, where, it appears to me, to be the best place, as they fail to keep up with traffic. Especially those with the hand made side cars and trailers full.of passengers, grass, dogs and other stuff. There are no powerpoles, trees or such like in the roads or carriageway where I am. Most trees are more than a meter from the road. Most electricity poles are at least 2 meters from the roadway, road lamps too. No one should drive through a puddle, no one knows how deep it is. I avoid puddles on the road in my pick up, for that reason and the fear of aquaplaning. Try anticipating the road conditions and drive to those. In my view, U turns are the worst. Driving against traffic flow, failing to look when pulling out of a side turn. Failing to accurately judge the speed of traffic. Failing to signal, or cancel the signal. No back lights, no front lights, no helmet. Road here are no better or worse than eslwhere. Percentages tell the story. The greater the percentage of bikes on the raod, the more likely they will be involved in accidents. I did not forget drunk driving. It's up there with the contributory factors, like rural roads that have sharp 90 degree corners, no stop signs, no give way signs, no keep left signs, no turn left only signs, no no right turn signs. No idea of roundabouts. No idea of roadsense.

Nakhon Ratchasima drowned by massive floods
Scott Tracy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
These are not floods. Please stop calling them that. His PMness said there will be no floods. Thus, these are not floods. This is just a surfeit of water...
