I'm not so certain other countries manage floods any better. Or there would not be so many news reports of floods. There would be no floods.... <deleted> happens in tropical countries, it will rain during the rainy season. Those houses built on original flood plains will flood, unless raised in the original Thai style. Concrete and asphalt will not allow water to drain, leading to flooding of roads and buildings. Pattaya is probably only a few tens of feet above mean sea level, making a canal a difficult option. I suggest that a watch for sink holes is maintained. They seem to be common risk in high flood risk areas. And open access holes where water pressure in the underground drains have pushed off the covers.

What's an electric waste disposal plant? Disposal of electric waste or generating electricity from waste? If the latter, we could use one here. So much rice and corn detritus burned in the fields, 'Garden' waste burned at the side of the road, or left to spread around the place. Plastic waste not taken by the rag and bone people, (recycling operators) and, worst of all, charcoal making generating smelly smoke. Not that that can be called waste, or course, just noting that the waste can be burned in a proper waste incinerator, electricity generated and emissions cleaned. The wife's 2 unused rai at the back of us are available, as are the 3 unused rai down the road...

What's the point of testing 1 day after the vaccination? We're they expecting immunity after a day? Surely they should have been tested prior to the vaccination, then they would have been isolated to protect others, who have probably now got the virus from the vaccination centre.S There is no substitute for incompetence.

The law of unintended consequences... He was put in as PM by those who thought he would be strong and look after their interests. Seems like he might not be doing as well as they had hoped. Just goes to show, being army head and running the military doesn't make you a superhero of running government.

And this annoys the <deleted> out of me. So much denigration of this and other vaccines. Only 45 countries have approved it for emergency use of recognise it as an acceptable vaccine. Ridiculous politicking. In my view, vaccines approved by WHO should be accepted and recognise used by all countries that are party to the WHO. Vaccines approve by a member state should be accepted and approved by all member states. Stop all these shenanigans and political horse <deleted>.

Rumbling undercurrent unsettles Prayut despite censure win
Scott Tracy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not being ready or willing for a 'democracy' of whatever shape of size they come in would certainly account for the number of successful coups over the years... Perhaps the Singapore model is the way to go. Benevolent dictatorship. Oh, wait.... It would help if the coup leaders were trained in how to run a country next time. Perhaps add it to army training. -
Is Thailand a dry country now? I thought all restrictions were lifted and Thailand was opening up again. But I do notice, earlier on, that a man who was riding his motorbike and died after colliding with a shipping container in Bangkok, was dobbed in by his friend for drinking before driving. Was his friend arrested for drinking?

NagaCorp US$77mln loss as Cambodia casino closed most 1H
Scott Tracy replied to geovalin's topic in Cambodia News
It's not a loss. A loss is a minus figure at the end of the balance sheet. They made less profit than last year. That's all.- 1 reply
