Illegal botox operation uncovered in Chumphon beauty clinic
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
I know botox treatments are pretty safe and millions have had them. Even still, when I worked in a hospital there was a patient who was poisoned by "Botulinum toxin one of the most poisonous biological substances known, is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2856357/ This lady had nearly complete paralysis of all skeletal muscles, she could blink her eyes but not under conscious control, so she answered Y/N questions by moving her toes. I don't remember the progress of her disease but per the MDs the expectation was that she would eventually recover spontaneously. It was nothing to do with Botox, I believe it was contaminated food. But that was such a scary thing to see I would not be eager to try Botox. -
You don't need a Thai bank account to use an ATM. Where do you think all that tourist money comes from? They don't bring it over in sacks, they go to one the many ATMs that are found almost everywhere.

220 volt NON USB speakers for desktop pc/laptop - help anyone?
cdemundo replied to cliveshep's topic in Audio Visual AV
My laptop built-in speakers recently became completely distorted. I was looking for speakers that would plug into the headphone jack which I have had in the past. My friend said just get Bluetooth speakers which I had no idea about. So I just bought a set of bluetooth speakers, they are plugged in across the room, independent of computer power supply. Inexpensive too. Is your computer bluetooth capable? I find "Windows 10 (Version 1903) supports Bluetooth version 5.0" with Google so maybe. If it is Blue tooth speakers are an easy fix. If not I don't know. No doubt some more knowledgeable types will weigh in. PS also found: "How do I turn on Bluetooth on my Dell Latitude Windows 10? Turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Select the Bluetooth toggle to turn it On or Off." So maybe Bluetooth speakers will work for you. -
Assuming you are in Thailand, does observing people whose beliefs are very different from yours raise any questions for you? Thailand is of course majority Buddhist with a significant Muslim population. Does that cause you t think at all about the universality of your religion? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious. This forum seldom sees posts that reflect knowledge of the NT.

In my experience a lot of LGBTQ-phobia is generalized. I mean like, people who speak ill of LGBTQ folks in the abstract but their LGBTQ acquaintances they are cool with.

Matchbook signed by Willie Dixon. Saw his performance at a bar and he signed for me. -

right, isn't that where the comedian Bob Mortimer comes from? Maybe I should say "the great Bob Mortimer". -
I would call you an a$$hole, but that would be an insult to a$$holes. You exhibit the unshakeable certainty only present in the half-educated. I know that's two, couldn't choose.

Was you closer to your Mother than your Dad?
cdemundo replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
This is a place for information and also for diversion. You know harmless entertainment. Is the problem that you feel uncomfortable talking about your mother and father? What do you think Dr. Freud would say about that? Just to be crystal clear, I'm kidding, so don't get offended. -
You know there is an expression "There's no fool like an old fool." But then there are young fellas too.

I once wrote either "SNAFU" or "FUBAR" and the mod at that time objected that the F in that stood for a verboten word. I didn't object but all dictionaries have these two acronyms and say that the FU stands for "fouled up". I remember thinking that someone's grandmother must have become a mod. Remember the kid in grammar school who volunteered to be hall monitor? Sometimes they never grow out of it I guess.

This is a good forum when you need information. There are a lot of well-informed people on here. Discussions I often find show me posters who only serve as a bad example. I mean that seriously, sometimes I remind my self I don't was to be like Mr. XYZ, I prefer to be positive when I can. I have half a dozen posters on ignore as I have found they have nothing useful or positive to say. I have 1600 posts over several years, I feel that if always asked myself "does this need to be said" (as I usually do now) I would have half as many. I have to admit I occasionally post just to return fire at someone who annoys me. I feel that it is safe to say if a person is topping 40 posts a day and they are not on house arrest, they need to get a life. Have I made any body mad? Probably, sometimes you can't avoid it.

My first reaction was, that sounds cruel. Then realized this was diet "for" aging dogs, not diet "of" aging dogs.

Why "Genocide Joe"? I hadn't heard that one. Just for alliteration? -
Which country has the rudest people?
cdemundo replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If drunks were a nationality they would of course be the worst, especially groups of young males who are drunk. I would say Chinese and Russians but in different ways. Just my limited experience and I have much more experience with Chinese than I do with Russians. Chinese are just clueless, as if dropped here from another planet. No sense of personal space and very loud. Slack jawed yokels, blocking public walkways and entrances to elevators etc. But no malice in my opinion. Russians seem hateful and are physically aggressive for no reason. Pushing their way onto a baht bus or in a store aisle. My friend tells me it's from years of elbowing their way to the front of the bread line. -
Which gift has your partner appreciated the most?
cdemundo replied to Keeps's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
You are right, there are notable exceptions. I have met bargirls who own farms and homes in the provinces. This in contrast with folks who are taken by surprise when the rent comes due each month. -

thought I was in the wrong thread with some preceding posts. Anyway I was wondering it this is a stand up pinball machine or a video game type replica? Cool either way and an original gift idea Thanks for sharing -
Overstaying by hours
cdemundo replied to MindfulPresence's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This was some years ago. I overstayed because I counted the days wrong, I was one day overstay. The officer in the kiosk directed me to a supervisor who was standing behind the row of kiosks. She asked me why I overstayed and I said it was an error in counting the days. She just handed me my passport and said "Safe travels", no scolding, no warning. YMMV, but i think they are not trying to penalize 1 day overstays. -
Cheated by Savings-bank...
cdemundo replied to BEngBKK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Didn't mean any disrespect, but 8000 THB is over $200 USD. And I can't imagine not even making a phone call or writing an email to try and recover it. I'm not poor but as I said for $200 I would make some effort though not unlimited. -
In my experience the prices are comparable to meter taxis. In my experience the big benefit of Grab is the drivers use GPS so can find your pickup and destination. Sometimes the taxi service my condo service people call gets lost on the way to pick me up.

I wouldn't take too much solace from being better than the US at cricket. The US has almost no consciousness of the existence of cricket. How there are enough US cricketers to 22nd or 17th in anything cricket related is a mystery. T20, ODI, Test? No idea what those mean. I thought this was a thread about World Cup football which has significant participation in the US.
