I find a lot of people to be very generous in their self appraisals. Nothing unusual about it, tough to be accurate in judging ourselves.

I would be happy if the motorcycles just stayed off the sidewalks/pavements/walkways. I will gladly dodge them in the street but they always startle me on the sidewalk.

Phuket taxi driver drives away foreign woman over air conditioning dispute
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
From the article it sounds like he made a reasonable effort to accommodate her. Maybe she was just a beeyotch. -
The war of personal experiences continues. I had the COVID vaccines, January of 2021 in Los Angeles, worked throughout the pandemic seeing patients after discharge from hospital. During that period LA county was at times among the "hottest" areas in the world for new COVID infections. I never got COVID. I have had a total of 5 COVID vaccinations and boosters. No side effects from the vaccinations or boosters, no COVID. I always recommend a visit to the reddit "Hermann Cain awards".

Trump's legal defeat in Colorado may turn into political gold
cdemundo replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
The quote was from former Federal Judge and informal adviser to Pence, Michael Luttig. He was discussing the Colorado decision on MSNBC. He did not seem to predict disqualification saying "if he is to be disqualified". The words "thinking about it seriously" seem to be key. ' “It is a natural and expected reaction by all Americans,” to think in terms of politics, Luttig said, “But upon thinking about it seriously, I think it’s crystal clear.” “It will be crystal clear to the American public that it’s the Constitution of the United States that’s disqualifying the former president from higher office, if he is to be disqualified,” he continued. “It’s not President Joe Biden. It’s not the Democrats. It’s not the anti-Trumpers.” The Colorado Supreme Court determined that Trump was responsible for the Jan. 6 Capitol riots and should be disqualified from the ballot via the 14th Amendment. Economy is going well but apparently the man in the street does not believe it. -

I don't think the poll that is quoted was restricted to Colorado. Even still, polls.... -
When you say snacks I am not thinking about health, just about snacking. I like these, apparently they are a NE regional thing in the US, company is in Pennsylvania but I never saw them in the midwest or the western states. Anyway, I work next door to a TOPS and TOPS has a big snack section with lots of choices from US, UK, Australia... Asian nations as well. Just a stroll up and down the aisles there you will probably find something you want to try. I also like the dried peas, not the wasabi ones they are too hot for me. I am a junk food junkie and always find something different to try at the TOPS junk food section.

Are farangs inadvertently colonizing Thailand?
cdemundo replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think this is true. Even in Bangkok, I have lived in Ratchayothin and in Saphan Sang areas of Bangkok and there are very few farangs to be seen there. When I ride the Sukhumvit Line of the BTS I am always surprised to see so many farangs. -

All humanity can be proud of Marty, what a fun guy. After this video gets around, no doubt the offers to be an underwear model will be coming in. -
So if I want to avoid "Little Pattaya" on Soi 81 where should I tell the taxi driver not to go. You know, to avoid it.

How does the OP feel about scenes of attractive lesbians making out? I wonder because I quite like those and feel that there are not enough of those.

Are you suffering from an irony deficiency?

You missed the point of my post. It was concerned with lack of deterrent effect of execution. Can't fathom what was the point of your post.

"Car 54 where are you?" One of the first episodes Francis asks Gunther can he go fishing. Gunther asks his wife if he can go. She goes on a rant, "If you don't care about your poor wife ... blah blah blah... then yes you can go." Gunther gets back on the phone: "It's ok Francis, she says I can go." Beverly Hillbillies as well.

I have my doubts that fear of punishment will have much deterrent effect with homicidal drunks. I may be wrong but I don't think such people do a risk/reward or cost/benefit analysis before committing a murder. Does a guy like this noodle shop owner say to himself "I have a very strong urge to stab these two. But let me think, what will be the consequences for me if I give in to that urge?". I don't think execution is too severe a punishment, but I don't think it will act as a deterrent for other killers.

Fine Arts Dept wants speedy return of Thai artefacts from USA
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As an American I have to object. Why should they be returned? The US stole those artifacts fair and square. (As always for the thick and slow (a powerful contingent on ASEANNOW) JK.) -

"Pol. Col. Navin suspected that the incident might be connected to the victim’s work as a journalist or a personal conflict." Or something...
