  1. I don't doubt your experience but it is so different from mine and from most of the posts I read on here. How do you explain it?
  2. Touchy? A little? Seem to have missed the point in any event.
  3. "near the 7-11" That narrows it down.
  4. I read bit of the article in Scandasia. Typical of substance abusers, nothing is his fault. Habitual liars sometimes tell the truth but not possible to know what is true and what is a lie. "Christa, the Danish vicar in Thailand", there should be an organization "Saps for Jesus" for people who help the undeserving and always seem very self-righteous about what they do. I once talked to a cleaned up druggie who told me that at the end of his using, "nobody was glad to see me", sounds like this guy's story as well. Interesting to learn how quickly his sentence was reduced. Basically his story doesn't pass the sniff test, smells like week old fish.
  5. "Pattaya, a cherished tourist destination." I cherish it. Pattaya is a blast. Every discussion of any kind about Pattaya attracts Pattaya bashers, why is that? I imagine there are discussions about golf on this forum, I never noticed. I don't care for golf, I consider it "a good walk ... spoiled" as the man said. But I have never posted on a golf discussion that I don't care for golf. What I am saying is that all the Pattaya bashers definitely have an interest in Pattaya. Is there a name for this? I don't know but it is a real phenom.
  6. Yes, xylophone is absolutely right. I was lowly educated and looked it up and xylitol does reduce bacteria. I am a little suspicious of the xylophone/xylitol connection; could xylophone be an agent of Big Xylitol? For the stiffs out there, (and I know you are on this forum), I'm kidding about this last part.
  7. It isn't just in Thailand. I lived in California where you had to show your driver's license which they scanned to keep track if you were buying metric tons of the stuff, also you had to sign (electronically) to promise that you weren't using it to start your own drug cartel. In a neighboring state, Oregon, you need an MD prescription to get pseudafed. But I also remember going in to a pharmacy when pseudafed was just OTC and the whole shelf would be emptied of Pseudafed, generics and anything that had it in combo with antihistamine. So apparently it was a problem.
  8. Glad you warned me, I have been using pseudoephedrine for 40 some years and I wouldn't want to waste anymore time trying it.
  9. The guy was trying to be helpful. Don't throw batteries at him.
  10. Amazing thought processes in the discussions on this board. Somehow an article about an altercation with ladyboys triggered fat haters. I didn't go through all the responses, did the Trump haters and Trump lovers get triggered as well?
  11. "No but you are" Another board member who owns "Pee Wee Herman's Big Book of Snappy Comebacks".
  12. The times they are a changin'
  13. Methinks you protest too much.
  14. The thing that I have noticed is that no one ever thanks me when I correct their ignorance and/or flawed thinking. Seems very ungrateful to me.
  15. High level of stress makes a person vandalize cars and shop lift. Huh, learn something new everyday.
  16. Thailand's neutrality is their business, my opinion is of no consequence to them. But... My first awareness of Palestinian militants is of a Palestinian pushing an elderly man in a wheelchair off the deck of the ship Achille Lauro into the Mediterranean Sea. This was intentionally done in front of TV cameras. Most recently the murderous attack by Hamas on unarmed civilians in Southern Israel committing multiple murders on video. Although, there is no doubt a lot of blame to be shared on both sides, the Palestinians have projected an image of inhuman brutality and cruelty that works to their disadvantage.
  17. "Really? What does saying we support Israel do? Doesnt achieve anything." Possibly the "we" in this post is what the government might say. Not the poster including himself as a person speaking for Thailand. Ya think?
  18. Two great philosophers and their thoughts on the subject, both from the US by the way, so they are thinking about "love" in the West.
  19. It may be that the fact that you are miserable and your contemptuous perception of Thai people are not completely independent of each other. Possibly you need to look inside yourself grasshopper. Just a thought.
  20. Let's see if I can explain my reasoning here. Possibly it is difficult to follow. Working along side shelf stackers would indicate that this fellow is not say a doctor or a nurse or a medical researcher. He is not working in a field that would qualify him to give advice on medical matters. You misunderstand my post, there is nothing wrong with working among shelf stackers, it just doesn't qualify you to give medical advice.
  21. For Sci-fi I like: 12 Monkeys or 5th Element since can only have 3 Blade Runner Alien
  22. Watched African Queen recently and it did not seem dated at all to me. Sometimes I go back and watch movies I liked in the past and they don't seem to have aged well. But African Queen was great. "Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we were put here to rise above".
  23. westerns: The Magnificent Seven (Yul Brynner version). Silverado. The Unforgiven
  24. I would be reluctant to make a judgement like this. It seems that any solution that you can think of works for somebody.
