Just spring for the freakin' Ben and Jerry's!
cdemundo replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I like Americone Dream. But I feel like sometimes there is too much of the add ins, just a little too much sometimes. Haagen Daz has some nice flavors that are a little simpler. The Ben and Jerry's pint in the States are six bucks now, but they have a 4 oz size for 2 bucks. I haven't looked for it in Thailand. -
When used by physicians the term heart failure does not necessarily indicate death. Heart failure describes a condition where the heart continues to beat but provides insufficient oxygenated blood to the body. Chronic heart failure can be a chronic disease where people live for years with the problems it causes. Acute heart failure is a life-threatening emergency, requiring medical intervention but not necessarily fatal. It isn't pedantic to know what the heck you are talking about, and to restrict your proclamations to those things about which you know something.

Not true. Everyone who has ever died, died when cardiac arrest occurred. Heart failure is when the heart continues to beat but provides insufficient oxygenated blood to the body. "Acute heart failure is a sudden, life-threatening condition in which the heart is unable to do its job. The heart is still beating, but it cannot deliver enough oxygen to meet the body's needs. This condition requires emergency medical care." https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/21686-acute-heart-failure

I confess that I am wondering if I contributed to the S&P disaster this year. Early in the year I took some money that was just non-invested cash set aside for paying taxes and invested half of it in an S&P index fund. The next week the S&P started a period of its worst performance in over 10 years. Was it just my bad luck that caused this? (Shouldn't be needed to say but hereabouts.. JK).

To the extent that you had a point to make, I think you have made it by now. Why not go enjoy the wonderful life you have made for yourself?

Stupid me! I lent a lot of money to a Thai woman.

I expect that all the non-helpful posts must be frustrating. I'm gonna and another for the future, ask for advice before you make a loan. At this point i'd say you need to follow the advice "When you lose don't lose the lesson." This is the one point that I think might be helpful: Forget: " justice, fairness, betrayal, legality, redress of grievances, the principle of the thing" and anything else but "is this gonna cause me to send good money after bad?" A lot of things you might want to do need to be examined from every angle and maybe after your (justified) anger has cooled, don't lose money, time, effort in a lost cause. -
Did you call Schwab? they have this page promoting their international accounts: https://international.schwab.com/expatriate-essentials I called and spoke to a "Customer Service" guy at Schwab and he was not real helpful, but he indicated that I would have to have an international account if I lived the majority of the year in Thailand. He didn't seem interested in providing any information other than the most basic info. I am gonna call back during the day and see if I can talk to someone more helpful. I am curious about any differences in the two types of accounts.

And some people tend to miss the point.

Exactly. Threads about Pattaya always bring out pearl clutchers who are so offended by what goes on in Pattaya yet they know all about it and maintain a keen interest chiming in with their condemnation in every Pattaya thread (OK not every thread). Often they say "I've never been to Pattaya but..." or "I only went there cuz friends dragged me there...". Reminds of a photo Ive seen of a religious nut with a sign condemning homosexuality and a fella next to him with a sign with an arrow indicating the religious nut and the text saying "Never misses a gay event". As for me I can resist everything but temptation so I like Pattaya just fine.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I am enjoying all the Christmas Music on Spotify this year. Many artists and genres represented and not just the old shopworn songs, but they are there if you want them My daughter made me a playlist of holiday music and I am really enjoying it.

I don't know if what I am about to say is more appropriately described as "professor of the obvious" or "don't shoot the messenger" type of opinion. These are just opinions but they are based on experience with multiple family members and friends over the years. Addicts often find it almost impossible to quit an addiction even when they sincerely want to quit. An early casualty of addiction is truth. Addicts don't just lie to their family and friends, more importantly they lie to themselves. "Yes, but my case is different" is how they often look at their addiction relative to other addicts. Probably the person lies to you. It is not unusual for families to end up having to cut all ties with the addict to stop the destruction of their own lives. Think about how hard that is for mothers and fathers to do to their children, that gives an idea of the state of hopelessness people reach after trying to help an addict. This is a Thai person? Ask yourself where are their family and friends? Why are they not helping? It sounds hard, but kindness towards addicts probably doesn't help them and can be very harmful to you. Often, in the end addicts are not grateful to those who tried to help them and end up resenting them. YMMV.

Imho it's best to stay in boyfriend status. You can spend a bit on the woman in this status and be thought of as generous. Once married I think nothing seems to be enough. But I have not been married so this is a second hand impression.

I need to visit a chick from sri racha, how to get there?

Always get a mix of responses on AEANNOW, just focus on the helpful responses. There are a lot of folks on any internet resource that are just useless and hostile and think they are comedians; possibly here there are an abnormally high number of those. Even still, always a lot of helpful information from the human beings here. -
If you are listening to music - What's Playing ? (2022)

On Spotify "Ella and Louis Christmas". Great singers accompanied by great instrumentalists. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!! -
Sig, you are avoiding or misunderstanding the point. All I am referring to are the two parts of the story (virgin birth and resurrection), are they probable? I am not making a comparison to the story of Jesus. You implied that the improbabilities i referred to were a matter of opinion, that isn't the case. Since I didn't communicate with my thought experiment, let me try another way. If this doesn't make my point I will leave it alone. The number of human births and deaths in the last two thousand years is many millions.. If the virgin birth and resurrection of Jesus are unique, then they are clearly improbable events, since they are both one event out of many millions of events. "One in a million" is a common phrase to express improbability, these events are more improbable than that.

I don't want to attack you, so please take this as just a discussion and try not to feel like you need to defend yourself. "something that appears to be improbable to someone" The beliefs are manifestly improbable, let me show you what I mean. There is a board member with screen name "Coolguy". Coolguy's mother was a virgin when he was born. Last week Coolguy died, he was buried and after three days he rose from the dead and visited with friends and posted here on ASEANNOW. Do you believe me?

My thought is that you might consider taking up stamp collecting. Another alternative would be model railroading. Others might have suggestions as well, but exercising control over the life of your wife is not a healthy hobby.
