How smart are you really?
Without bragging and boasting this forum would have no reason to exist. AN members can sneak in a boast on just about any topic. The OP was just establishing his bona fides, no big deal.

Violent clash between Thai and Filipino trans groups rocks Bangkok
That sounds like what in my youth was called "a ten buck show". I would have liked to see a bit of it.

UPDATE: Swiss man’s visa revoked
In this case the "tantrums and bad behaviour" were exclusively the actions of the Swiss guy.

UPDATE: Swiss man’s visa revoked
I understand your thinking. But i think reactive belligerents, and he seems to be one of these, don't really control their behavior based on consequences past or consequences anticipated. Even, though it doesn't affect me directly, he being a person who reflects badly on expats here, I would be glad to see him go.

How smart are you really?
You are justly proud of your achievements. Sincere congratulations. But intelligent people can disagree with each other, of course the less intelligent and the uninformed also have opinions. Disagreements of all kinds occur on AN and lot of posters here are pig ignorant and proud of it. Hence the ignore function which I have used liberally. I have found that one of the most useful functions of AN for me is to show me what kind of behavior and attitudes to avoid. To many of the posters here the saying applies: "You're not completely useless, you can always serve as a bad example".

Thai university lecturer tried to murder me and got away with it.
No you are correct. But BritManToo is playing the poor innocent. Didn't even know he bumped him "apparently" he bumped him. But then he admits he knew he bumped him, was there a confrontation that led to this?

Wow, extreme over reaction by the Thai professor. But "Apparently I bumped his car that made him angry", ... apparently? You were unaware? Wow.

Foreign Man Throws Glass At A Thai Woman In A Dog Cafe
She is wearing a crop top and shorts, pretty normal attire. You consider her to be half naked and you bring up Nana Plaza freelancers out of the blue. Are you a conflicted Puritan? Are your libidinous thoughts disturbing you? It's OK, it's natural to think about sex. I notice you avoid talking about your mother... haha jk, jk I know you don't need any kind of psychiatric help. You are just fine the way you are,... really.

Foreign Man Throws Glass At A Thai Woman In A Dog Cafe
I see a lot of calls for deportation. Why not? : stoning, could have community participation. or save up a group of offenders and have group crucifixions, could sell tickets. Deportation is so boring. (for the benefit of the thick and slow, JK).

Foreign Man Throws Glass At A Thai Woman In A Dog Cafe
It sounds like the start of a joke or a riddle. What do you call an Englishman who throws a glass? Why is a raven like writing des?. Or something...

Your personal opinion guns
People are funny about this. Me too. Is it the Sanctity of Life, is it a higher morality? Kill bunnies or baby seals I am outraged. Kill rats or snakes, not so much. I think it is the Sanctity of Cute Cuddly Lifeforms.

Your personal opinion guns
Agreed Fred. But I was responding to the post that said: "Obama took all the guns remember" When he clearly did not.
-
Your personal opinion guns
"Obama took all the guns remember" Actually I don't remember that. "4 Years After Sandy Hook, Obama Leaves a Legacy of Little Progress on Gun Laws No federal gun laws have been passed during his two terms, and gun sales are up... Yet for all the words, Obama has made little federal progress toward what he has repeatedly described as "common-sense gun laws." It is, the outgoing president has acknowledged, one of the biggest regrets of his time in the White House." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/years-sandy-hook-obama-leaves-legacy-progress-gun/story?id=44163755

Samsung Washing Machines? And, appliances? Garbage compared to GE/Westinghouse/Maytag?
In the 1970s I had a job cleaning furnaces that involved going into people's basements. We would routinely see ancient (1940s) Maytags still in use. Some were just an open tub with an agitator, no lid or top, still working. I came to understand why the Maytag repairman is the "loneliest man in town". Here I have an LG, it works just fine.

Why people insult others so easily and so often?
"On many occasions its just sport to some and enjoyment winding others up." Guilty as charged. However, I try to only let the air out of the over-inflated of which there is no shortage on AN.

Tuk tuks and taxis: Bangkok’s solution to overcharging crisis
I have had Bolt drivers say they want cash when I am already paying on my CC through the app. They were ok when I explained that though. Another Bolt driver messaged me before pickup that he wanted cash so I canceled as same problem, and I don't want to pay twice. Has never happened to me with Grab.

Tuk tuks and taxis: Bangkok’s solution to overcharging crisis
Ride apps are a good solution. The only problem I found with using apps is that the GPS doesn't always accurately give the pickup location. On Ramkhamheang Rd with 4 lanes and a middle divider the Grab app couldn't tell if I was on the north or the south side of the road. More than once i have had to jog down the street to catch the Grab taxi. Generally, I ask the fare if they aren't using the meter, and weigh the convenience of paying a premium and pay it or not. I have learned don't go with drivers that say "up to you", at the end of the ride he probably won't accept a reasonable fare. Can't imagine the amount of overcharge that would get me to spend time in the complaint process. I know, "it's the principle of the thing".

The prospect of a second Trump presidency has the intelligence community on edge
Unintended humor, I know you meant assassinations. But I am all for assignations. as·sig·na·tion /ˌasiɡˈnāSH(ə)n/ noun; plural noun: assignations 1. an appointment to meet someone in secret, typically one made by lovers. "his assignation with an older woman"

The prospect of a second Trump presidency has the intelligence community on edge
Agreed. I think many of them really should be very pleased with their lot in life. I guess it is natural to look ahead and upward and have expectations that all will be better year after year. They are told to be angry and resentful and they buy into it. But I think the Trumpers are angry over nothing. Personally when I compare my life to that of Keith Richards (millionaire, never had a job but to be a Rolling Stone) I feel a little disappointed. But realistically I am pretty content with my lot in life, humble though it may be.

The prospect of a second Trump presidency has the intelligence community on edge
You would think but... He has a solid core of dyed in the wool followers, then those who are voting against Biden, those who are voting against any kind of liberal/leftist agenda, then the culture war voters who think Trump will bring back the 1950s. I thought as you do the first time he ran but he won of course.

Proposal to Put Graphic Warning Labels on Alcohol in Thailand Leads to Strong Opposition
" they just love their restrictive and prohibitive measures." Maybe "they" do but this suggestion (whether a good idea or not) is neither restrictive or prohibitive. It's intended to discourage alcohol use by information as far as i can see. My question would be: have the graphic pictures on cigarette packages decreased the sale of cigarettes? A quick search on this topic comes back with a lot of articles and a resounding "meh". No clear indication that warning labels decreased cigarette use, I doubt these labels would be effective.

HowTo: How to Explain Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation to a Precocious 10-year-old?
Pathetic example of "bragging in the form of a question" by a wannabe intellectual. He would be an object of pity if he wasn't so unlikeable.
