Do they check paperwork? (TEFL accreditation, bachelor's degree)
Degrees are required in the process of getting a work permit as of 2023 (not starting 2023 just current status). That being said I know a teacher who is teaching for an agency and going to Thai public schools without a degree. I am told that the Thai monitoring agency gives a heads up to the school or employment agency as to when a check will be made and non-degreed teachers are sent home that day. But that is totally scuttlebutt that I can't verify. To get a work permit degrees need to be certified by Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country, notarized by your university, certified by State or Province and certified by your national government agency (in USA it's the State department). The mileage I had to send my degree back and forth was equal to one and a half times around the world after getting all these certifications. The Thai Embassy requires the other certifications so they really just rubber stamp it. Just as an additional hoop to jump through, The Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles requires payment in a money order in US dollars to be included in the mailing with the degree to be certified. Not easy to get a USD money order in Bangkok. Some countries provide degree certification by their embassy in Thailand but there are those that do not, namely the USA. When your home country embassy certifies the degree it may be different requirement, I don't know.

Thai's Cutting In Line
I was at immigration at Chang Wattana in the line for queue numbers and a Chinese man (he threw his passport at the attendant so I could see it was a Chinese passport) cut in front of me just as I got to the window. The Thai attendant threw his passport back at him with zero hesitation and gave him a look, well if looks could kill... Then she immediately returned to business without missing a beat, I guess they are used to handling line cutters at immigration.

It seems that this forum has many members who's intellectually challenged
Interesting to learn that correction of English learned in second or third year of elementary school is considered "nit-picking grammar" by some here. Problem is that grievous errors in English hurt the ears of those of us who learned a bit at school. Even hurts the ears when read silently.

Pattaya Bar/Go-Go Death Watch
Success rate on bars and restaurants is low everywhere. Witness Deniro and Grodin in "Midnight Run": Deniro's character says he wants to retire and open a restaurant. [Grodin: I have to tell you, a restaurant is a very tricky investment. More than half of them go under within the first six months. If I were your accountant, I'd strongly advise you against it. Deniro: You would? You're not my accountant. Grodin: No, if I were your accountant... Deniro: I told you, I took you out here... Grodin: No, I'm just saying that it's a very tricky business... and if I were your accountant, I would strongly advise you against it... as an accountant. Deniro: You're not my accountant. Grodin: I realize I'm not your accountant. I'm saying, if I were your accountant.] So if Grodin were your accountant he would strongly advise you against opening a restaurant or bar in Pattaya.

I think you mean members "who are intellectually challenged" not "members who's" which is a contraction of "members who is intellectually challenged".

Lone Kuwaiti Tourist Fights Off Five Young Teen Robbers in Pattaya
" Personal accountability has never been learned starting with the generation raised by baby boomer mothers... participation trophies abound. " True in the West in my opinion but is it true in Thailand? Was there a generational change in Thai attitudes toward child raising?

Who would you like for "Jurassic Prez" if a former US prez could be resurrected from DNA?
I see what you mean. In any event I didn't intend the question quite that literally. It was intended more along the lines of those questions that ask "who from history would you like to meet and have a talk with?".

Respect the elders at all cost
And why doesn't someone who wants to know why a person wrote "pii" in a forum that uses English ask the person who wrote that?

Who would you like for "Jurassic Prez" if a former US prez could be resurrected from DNA?
Technology would be the first challenge as you say. And I understand your point but I think that an intelligent person would adjust rather quickly. Again, I know it would not be possible, it's just a way to stimulate thought and discussion.

Who would you like for "Jurassic Prez" if a former US prez could be resurrected from DNA?
Yes, well possibly you didn't understand. I was asking for who you would suggest.

Good choice! "Humphrey's colleagues nicknamed him the "happy warrior" because of his indefatigable optimism and spirited defense of the weakest members of society." He was not someone I had thought of but good choice!

Nikki Haley Sharpens Criticism of Trump in New Hampshire Campaign Finale
Yes, Hunter has certainly turned out to be the Fredo (a la The Godfather movies) of the Biden family. Geez, what a dirt bag he turned out to be. Russia collusion, is that the theory the accusations were a witchhunt? Apparently, the investigation was questionable. Myocarditis associated with COVID vaccine has been established I didn't realize that was thought of as a conspiracy theory. White supremacists in the military has been reported, also religious extremism in the military I guess. At least the lizard people aren't real, or are they?

What if a former US president could be brought back to life like the dinos in Jurassic Park? Not a serious possibility of course, but maybe an interesting "what if". What US president from the past would you like to see brought back? George Washington? Abe Lincoln? Teddy Roosevelt? Ike? (My front runner.) Millard Fillmore?

"We used to call them conspiracy theories, until so many have come true." Which conspiracy theories that came true are you thinking of?

Respect the elders at all cost
The syllable pii (พี่) is used in compound words to mean elder, and alone it means elders.

Bangkok braces for severe outbreak of three diseases
It seems that a lot of the vaccine skeptics/"healthy immune system" crowd have very little understanding of the immune system. Starting with the basics: "The immune system is made up of two parts: the innate, (general) immune system and the adaptive (specialized) immune system." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK279396/#:~:text=Last Update%3A July 30%2C 2020,adaptive (specialized) immune system. (The link is a good place to start.) Someone who doesn't understand this (general and adaptive components) cannot understand the role of vaccines. What the "healthy, natural immune system" crowd says indicates that they do not understand the general and adaptive immune system.
