Has anyone on a DTV confirmed we also have to do this? It sounds like we do but it was never pointed out to me in any of the documentation when I applied, when it was issued, when I entered, or in any of the official DTV info I have read. I would imagine there will be lots of people entering on a DTV who will be unaware of this requirement since it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in any of the tourist info.

My supported and unsupported hardware are both running the exact same version of Win11 and both have the exact same update history. That includes Windows Defender anti-virus and malicious software removal tool updates. So yes. If updates stop at some point I am still better off than I would be if I left the laptop on Win10 imo. All my computers are now running the same OS. There is also the possibility of a workaround being found if they try stop updates.

Buying slightly used is fine but it's easy enough to remove bloatware yourself. No technical skills required.

Your point? You are much better off upgrading to Win11, even if they manage to prevent official updates, than staying on older Win10 software which is definitely not getting official updates.
