Personally I don't think tatts make anyone look better, on the contrary in some cases it looks like the work of a schoolkid. But everyone is free to choose the risks in life. Joining traffic in Thailand and smoking are by far riskier than having some ink under your skin.

There is no such thing as strong or weak antibiotic. Just appropriate as has already been commented. Don't take any advice from any of the "experts" here, however well meant. Infections can be very different, i.e. have a different cause. Only a culture and assessment can help to choose the right antibiotic. There are wide-spectrum antibiotics that are effective against many microorganisms, but there is the risk of creating resistance. Antibiotics are grossly misused in this part of the world anyway, so seek the advice of a prudent doctor who can explain why you should have antibiotics and which kind. And they don't work against for instance a fungus. Says this MD. And by the way, this kind of topic should be removed, some advice is just dangerous.

Five people taken to hospital after shooting at downtown Bangkok wedding
Dirk Z replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I thought a shotgun wedding was something else.... -
Quite some years ago (I don't remember how many but at least more than 5-6 or so) I arrived at the airport and found out that a seat-belt rule had been introduced. The taxi driver was adamant about me wearing the belt in the back seat. This lasted a few days and then it was business as usual. Looks like they are reviving an existing law?

The value of these health checks are greatly overrated. If you are in your 30-s and have no health complaints it is not going to get you anywhere, provided you have a healthy life style. Everybody knows what that is these days, or should know. Sometimes a minor flaw is found leading to unnecessary extra investigations, having its own risks etc. This is my honest opinion as an MD.

Thailand Urges World to Fulfill Climate Change Pledges
Dirk Z replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Weird to hear this in a country where many indoor places are too cold to be comfortable and you need to bring a sweater or jacket. -
I have been extremely satisfied for over 15 years with Pornsak clinic Sukhumvit soi 39.

In many - mainly European - countries cars will stop even when you are just approaching the crossing. No police about. It is a matter of education and decency. Thais are normally polite and modest, but unfortunately turn into selfish savages when driving a vehicle. Camera's would help for those crossings that have lights. But only if they have consequences....

As a recommendation I started to use it. I bought them in Holland, home brand, 300 tablets of 25 micrograms for 4,39 euro (163 baht). Second bottle half price.

Why are westerners so offended over the word farang? Get over it.
Dirk Z replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am not offended by the word farang at all. Even my wife calls me that sometimes. In restaurants asked about the level of spice I often say "pet-farang" and so on. -
In this generally lovely climate (one of the reasons for retiring here) an airco is unnecessary in many places. I cannot understand why staff should wear suits and jumpers in offices that are too cold to stay in comfortably. A bar without an airco blowing polar wind from every direction would be a blessing.

Sounds credible to me. -
Looking for expert suggestion for Spine Surgeon
Dirk Z replied to Monir087's topic in Health and Medicine
Beware: they are very eager to operate here whereas surgery is often not a solution. Take this from a retired spine surgeon. -
I found it quite spectacular. Expensive to get up though, I think 1000 baht but a lot cheaper for over 60 or so. When you go, go around 5 pm, enjoy the sunset and a drink afterwards. Choose a clear day.

Contactless NFC payment
Dirk Z replied to Dirk Z's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes, I have a few Thai bank accounts, but what I liked about Samsung Pay was the possibility to store multiple credit cards. Sometimes there are benefits attached to a certain card, so I have e few from different banks. I just held my phone against the terminal, the same phone in which I store my M-card and B1, so just one device needed to complete everything. I will check Google pay, thanks for this. -
I like contactless payment, especially now, and have used Samsung Pay in my phone. Now this service has been discontinued. Anyone know of a similar service? Please don't mention Apple products.

My office is CW. I have an account with Citibank, no book. Because statement and visa can not be done in one day I get my statement from the bank the day before. On the day itself I withdraw a small amount from an ATM (any) and keep the slip. This shows the balance. I attach it to the document from the bank (1 year!) and this has always been accepted.
