  1. Meh, still the best city in Thailand.
  2. Probably watching too many of those stupid influencers
  3. The local Amphur can't give you something they don't have, you have to register your marriage in Thailand. From another thread these should be the steps: 1. Go to the embassy (US Embassy) to get the declaration. 2. Get the certificate and declaration translated into thai. 3. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to have the translation certified. 4. Go to the "local" Amphoe to register and get the Kor Ror 22.
  4. Yeah that's my concern. Are the most recent vaccines updated or not?
  5. It COULD be 2-3 weeks BUT you have to consider how old those eggs already are.
  6. Lol what a load of cr*p, Italy is dying... they are just better at telling lies.
  7. BTW this thread is very long and interesting but the title has been wrong till now. It should be called long term resident since it is for everyone that qualifies in a category. Not only retirees. Regards
  8. I don't think so. Many will just try and see if the application just goes through and they get counted. I'd do it myself if my income was anywhere close but sadly it isn't.
  9. I'm a bit skeptical about these numbers because applicants doesn't mean successful applicants. I'd be surprised if half of these got approval. Especially the Work from Thailand individuals.
  10. Yes surely Thailand has soared in terms of cost of living, 20-30% more compared to pre-Covid years and 80% to 10 years ago. It's actually scary. I remember eating at street shops for 30 baht in 2012 and now the minimum is 40 baht, average 50 baht.
  11. Yeah cutting woods and timber can be troublesome and you need a permit usually for that. Probably wasn't a policeman but a ranger right?
  12. Don't overthink it, people that got fined or even deported for working on their property were asholes looking for trouble with their neighbors (and therefore got reported) or lived in touristy areas where labor dept rules are strictly applied(let's say you renovate a townhouse in central Chiang Mai and people see you hanging outside painting it, that would be high risk). I looked up Chiang Khan, you are in the middle of nowhere... no one will ever bother you.
  13. I'd do what the volunteer suggested and pay whatever 'fine' or tea money they ask trying to fix it as best as I can. Obviously he will have to leave the country so better he prepares a suitcase because usually deportation is instant.
  14. No, these days if you have to brib* better doing it directly at the source. I read recently of many people that thought they had their papers fixed but in reality the agency just took the money and did nothing.
  15. Haven't been to a cinema since they invented streaming apps
  16. I agree, they indoctrinate them with useless stuff... to avoid the road carnage 1 hour a week of road education would do miracles plus taking down all the stray dogs
  17. The dogs are a problem for sure but education on the road and forbidding kids to drive motorcycles that go as fast as 100Km/h could be a good start. I see them every morning racing to school, with no helmets on, customized motorcycles. Even though they see their peers dying every day on the roads (people they know or on the news) they seem to think they are invincible.
  18. At that age in my country you can only drive 50cc mopeds
  19. Well you know what it means if the Shin kid wins the elections right? One or two great years then another coup and instability for the following 10 years. With Prayut we might not grow but we don't become failed state either, better than nothing I guess.
