  1. I say start with 400 at least... at least they can afford one more meal per day, poor people.
  2. That's illegal by the law, it is widespread in rural areas but illegal.
  3. Are you a university student?
  4. Correct, they have the bad habit to list only the part of the city where the smallest part of the population lives lol
  5. usual wrong statistics. That's only Mueang Chiang Mai included but nowadays Sansai, Hang Dong, Saraphi and other areas should be included as well and that brings Chiang Mai to be the second biggest in Thailand.
  6. Of course Covid happened but that happened everwhere and population sharply increased considering also Bangkokians moving here. If you still wanted Opium or long neck begging for your 20 baht you are a bit late for that. Progress happens everywhere.
  7. Meh, still the best city in Thailand.
  8. Probably watching too many of those stupid influencers
  9. The local Amphur can't give you something they don't have, you have to register your marriage in Thailand. From another thread these should be the steps: 1. Go to the embassy (US Embassy) to get the declaration. 2. Get the certificate and declaration translated into thai. 3. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to have the translation certified. 4. Go to the "local" Amphoe to register and get the Kor Ror 22.
  10. Yeah that's my concern. Are the most recent vaccines updated or not?
  11. It COULD be 2-3 weeks BUT you have to consider how old those eggs already are.
  12. Lol what a load of cr*p, Italy is dying... they are just better at telling lies.
  13. Despite being a 'good guy' I never liked that motto. It doesn't sound friendly for visitors.
  14. BTW this thread is very long and interesting but the title has been wrong till now. It should be called long term resident since it is for everyone that qualifies in a category. Not only retirees. Regards
  15. I don't think so. Many will just try and see if the application just goes through and they get counted. I'd do it myself if my income was anywhere close but sadly it isn't.
  16. I'm a bit skeptical about these numbers because applicants doesn't mean successful applicants. I'd be surprised if half of these got approval. Especially the Work from Thailand individuals.
  17. Yeah the 50 baht meal in phuket must be microscopic
  18. Yes surely Thailand has soared in terms of cost of living, 20-30% more compared to pre-Covid years and 80% to 10 years ago. It's actually scary. I remember eating at street shops for 30 baht in 2012 and now the minimum is 40 baht, average 50 baht.
  19. Yeah cutting woods and timber can be troublesome and you need a permit usually for that. Probably wasn't a policeman but a ranger right?
  20. Don't overthink it, people that got fined or even deported for working on their property were asholes looking for trouble with their neighbors (and therefore got reported) or lived in touristy areas where labor dept rules are strictly applied(let's say you renovate a townhouse in central Chiang Mai and people see you hanging outside painting it, that would be high risk). I looked up Chiang Khan, you are in the middle of nowhere... no one will ever bother you.
  21. yeah this visa extension despite the long document list is a breeze.
  22. It was challenging but you made it to the end, well done
  23. I'd do what the volunteer suggested and pay whatever 'fine' or tea money they ask trying to fix it as best as I can. Obviously he will have to leave the country so better he prepares a suitcase because usually deportation is instant.
