  1. I'm guessing they don't realize that this forum and all news in Thailand is broadcasted to other countries, both online and by word of mouth, letting them know what goes on here. Tourism will continue to drop and hate crimes will continue to rise because of this information. Over a million Thais live in other countries and when people are targeted because of being a foreigner in Thailand, news travels fast.https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-family-on-scooter-in-fishing-village-andaman-coast-thailand-17666638.html?imageid=6619579D-A514-48EF-8098-85A0479090BF&p=10330&pn=1&searchId=32a9e17394f1b301d35a4f3d8750a0d4&searchtype=0
  2. Actually, all I've been in, which is most, didn't allow blocking others cars in or you'll be towed. My point is, it's not only illegal in most places, but stupid, as people blocking others in are inconsiderate and lazy. Someone might need to get into their car for an appointment or emergency and what happens when you can't find the owner and you can't push their car out of the way?
  3. And another reason so many leave.
  4. America for one, and I'm guessing most others have laws against blocking people in. Pretty much a common sense thing, and sticking up for people breaking the law or inhibiting others from being able to move their cars when they want to is called brown nosing when you're in another country than your own.
  5. I don't like it for many reasons, and many are the lack of enforcement of laws. Are you actually sticking up for behavior that makes things harder for others?
  6. It isn't an opinion but a fact. I didn't say he was guilty or innocent. I'm fully aware of what goes on in this sort of instance.
  7. Which is idiotic because when you have to leave, and maybe in an emergency, somebody is blocking you so you can't. Another moronic third world fact that other countries have laws for.
  8. When, and only when, something affects the rich or politicians will they do something about it. Living in an air conditioned life makes it easier to not care about what's going on around you. This goes for anyone living here. Thinking this is a warm , sunny paradise and hiding from it most of the day doesn't make sense. When you can go outside and not worry about pollution is when you can really enjoy the outdoors. There are ways to get the burning stopped that have already been introduced elsewhere. Paying a fine when you break the law is the best deterrent, especially if you aren't wealthy. Same goes for traffic laws and regulations that are ignored.
  9. I'm thinking park in an area, legally, so you aren't blocking other vehicles. Or am I missing something?
  10. When those involved in human trafficking are given hard sentences and fines. When corrupt officials who let this happen are arrested and jailed, fined. When judges who are paid off to let them continue are arrested ,jailed and fined. Human slavery is higher now than ever before. There are reasons for this increase and they all involve money. When an official is put into jail for years this might slow down. ................https://www.ilo.org/global/about-the-ilo/newsroom/news/WCMS_855019/lang--en/index.htm
  11. How is this man a foster father if his mother is also there? This means step father, and sadly, one of the ones most likely to assault , abuse and molest children. Of course most step parents aren't like this. Severe physical abuse and multiple injuries are discipline. They are abuse, and a mother that allows this isn't a mother but a perp also. Physical abuse is rampant here and a lot of it goes unpunished. I see moms carrying sticks and hitting their kids when they get out of line. What is it with using weapons here? A population of cowards who don't understand or care how to raise their children in a non violent manner? This is something learned through generations.
  12. They are missing the point. Who hires them? In America, the migrants get hired by rich farm and ranch owners., and some to work as maids are gardeners in their homes. If they get fined big it would slow down. First offense, second offense higher etc.
  13. Rape is about control. It's not all about sex but hurting the opposite gender. Reasons are being controlled and abused by a female role model in childhood, taking out that anger on other women later in life. Some have had bad relations with women as adults and again use that anger on other females. No amount of sex toys or porn will stop a predator. They do it to control the person, dominate them. This is but one link about the topic.............https://www.victims-first.org.uk/what-we-do/myths-about-rape-and-sexual-violence/
  14. These are your words a few days ago...... Popular Post Posted March 14 (edited) The last few weeks I have gone this "phase" of wanting to be a caring ear and help people with emotional problems.................................................................................. Mood swings are a big symptom of depression, so it might be a good idea to look for help in this.
  15. Jealousy rears it's ugly head many times here. I look at people as all the same, no matter what they own or control. They are. No one is any better than anyone else except by the way they treat others. Being a country leader, king, queen, dictator, president or any other means nothing except that some voted you in or you took control by force. You aren't superior by any means, and many that are rich are there because they took advantage of others, over developed land, bought out people who were jonesing for cash, killed people in their way or did one of many useless jobs moving around money for other rich folk. When your religion says women are inferior, that makes a lot of women fear and dislike the male gender. When you are controlled all of your life by narcissists you learn to hate others, or fear them. If you can speak Thai well here, some look at you as invaders, thinking you will take their women away, when it's their fault they run. Some other nationalities are here for profit, using the locals any way they can. Human trafficking is huge here, which makes women look at all men as takers in some way, because they know others who are being taken advantage of. The more they know the real us, meaning the good farangs that aren't here to use but to take care of some, that like the lifestyle and want to stay, or that have children and want to take them back to their own country for a better life, the more they understand our motives. Bad farangs, users, takers, abusers etc are what makes the rest of us look bad, and in a nation known for gossip, this gets out everywhere, and some believe the lies because they trust the liars more than common sense and personal experience.
  16. Yes, I read all of the posts of people I know here that are intelligent (based on what they say), and on topics that interest me. It isn't hard to read a few long paragraphs unless English isn't your first language, or you've learned it well enough to comprehend everything a long paragraph says.
  17. True with some here, but a lot want to ,and do learn English. I help at an English school here and I've met a few teens that speak very good English. It's all about desire. My girlfriend speaks and understands English very well. Not perfect, but learning more each day. Those I knew in the US spoke very good English also, and some perfect.
  18. Some people have their phones out all day long, looking for useless things to record, then post, to the many who like seeing people hurt, killed, tormented, abused etc. Normal people carry their phones to communicate to others important things. When things like this happen, those before mentioned people are the ones who record to post. Some are necessary, helping to catch people in the acts of hurting others. Most are just to post nonsense that only the bored will find interesting. I'm thinking Bob was talking to this woman and didn't think of shoving a camera in her face to show others how she was acting. He's an adult. It's usually the younger crowd who have their cameras at the ready. Maybe I'm wrong, but I keep my phone in my pocket unless it's needed to call someone.
  19. It also boils down to how women are looked at here, and it's from the teachings of Buddha. They see what life is like in other countries and some want it, and have deep seated hate towards men in Asia because of the way they are perceived. This is a small part of a topic...................... Talking about the present day status of women in Buddhism, it can clearly be seen that nuns are placed at an inferior positions as compared to monks. They should speak after the monks have spoken, eat after they have eaten, sit behind the monks in rituals and ceremonies, and cannot hold the highest positions in any ceremony and many more. One of the Gurudhhamas which states that even a senior nun should bow down to a monk who has just been initiated shows how inferior the women have been placed in Buddhism. As already stated, it is said that a female nun can never become a Buddha though she can become an arahant. Very few times, questions have been raised about this inequality and when raised though, have been suppressed by the large number of people who still believe that women should be placed at an inferior position as compared to monks. Even in Taiwan, where nuns status is highest, and where nuns and laywomen far outnumber monks and laymen, only two leaders of orthodox Buddhist sects, Master Yin Shu and Master Xing Yun of Buddha’s Light International, have publicly rejected part of the Eight Garudhammas and other rules and teachings that imply that women are inferior to men and should be treated as such. Few other Buddhists in the country have made such public statements, or given vocal support to equal rights, opportunities, or status for women [11] . In many cases, women themselves have deep rooted feelings that they are inferior to men. They think that they cannot be in the same place as men are because they are more jealous, short tongued, evil, weak, vain, and ignorant and so on. This also makes it difficult to bring out this deep rooted feeling in women and establish a level of confidence in them. During his research, Goodwin found that this concept is changing very rapidly in Taiwan, especially in the young generations. They do not hold these negative views any more. There is also a growing consciousness within the Buddhist community that these negative teachings and unequal rules should be abandoned. This shows that the number of people supporting equality is on the rise. I think Dalai Lama’s effort to eliminate the discrimination of nuns should also be mentioned here. He says that this discrimination causes harm and should be abandoned. He has advocated that reforms should be made. We come to see that Tibetan Buddhism has moved forward in this context. Many of the Tibetan leaders have expressed a desire for improvement of the current conditions. In the west, I can say that the situation is a bit better. Half of the teachers and leaders in western Buddhism are women. In the west, many view that Buddhist men and women are equal. They get equal opportunities. In Asia, however things are yet to change. The nuns here receive less education, respect, training and material support as compared to the monks. They have very little or no chance of advancement. In some of the countries, women are barred from entering shrines or temples. Not only so, even a monk who supports women of ordination may get severe punishment which can even result to his expulsion. This is a clear illustration to show that things are yet to be changed...............................This is the topic...........................https://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation?paperid=75673
  20. I also believe what Bob's said because of personal experience and from what other locals have said about their own. This country has over 70 million people, and like all other countries, has it's share of narcissistic, mean, prejudiced, hateful and deranged people. A lot of them don't like when you can speak fluent because they can't talk about you while you're there. I can't speak fluent but know a few of the statements, like those mentioned, along with many words in Thai. I know when they're talking about me and some of it hasn't been nice. I don't really care because in 67 years I've been around quite a few disturbed individuals like everyone else has, and there will always be those that haven't been taught as children respect for all races and nationalities. There is a lot of hatred here from the previous generations which is slowly losing strength as the younger are living in a more free environment, with many outside influences from media, and from parents who aren't so prejudiced in their beliefs. I hate no race, and have a half Thai daughter and a Thai girlfriend I love dearly, but I see from over 6 years living here, and from what I've heard way before I came here, both from those who've experienced Thai living, and from Thais themselves, what is really wrong with this country. There are a lot of really nice people here who accept for whatever reasons outsiders. Some of it is the hope they will get something from them, others from a curiosity about us, just like ours of them. Others like our cultures, especially music and movies, and want to know more about us. What Bob experienced isn't uncommon. Maybe the lady is going through a divorce, had a bad experience with a farang, doesn't like men in general etc. Maybe it was just like I and others said. They don't like farangs and want to talk about us in a derogatory fashion, and if we understand Thai, they can't do that, at least when we are around. I listen to everyone's posts here, and some you can tell they are kinda out there, and many are speaking from true experiences here. I don't think Bob is anti Thai, but a realist like I am, and sees what really is. There are some here that have definitely made up stories and have been caught out, like gg, and that's sad because it seems like it's for attention. Some like GG are so full of themselves they have to get attention by telling others he's a genius. which a true genius doesn't have to do. Some have had really bad experiences with a Thai woman, and hate everyone here because of it. I myself have been hurt by my ex here, but it isn't Thailand's fault but her parents why she turned out the way she did. In any event, what Bob has said happens, and many times in many ways, because of ignorance and prejudice, and it will be around until the younger crowd changes things, as they have been slowly. There are those that are brown nosers here, and think all locals are okay. There are those who have had a great experience with a Thai woman because she is given money and, smartly, doesn't take the man for granted and want more or think she "deserves" it. And there are those that don't trash all because of the actions of some.
  21. Mai mee means no.
  22. A lot grow Durian because it's very popular and tasty. Takes about 7 years to produce fruit from grafted trees, 8-10 from seeds, and they sell, but a lot of competition in it. Like some have mentioned, a lot of thieves in Thailand, especially in the country not protected areas. I have Rose Apple tree on the dirt road in front of my house, and the kids stole the first years fruit. This year it had about 100 buds, and they all disappeared overnight, not understanding why besides maybe birds. The one Mango I have that's mature had a few fruit stolen. Not easy to protect from a population that doesn't think much of their neighbors besides easy targets.
  23. They're trying to give tips that might deter someone who has bad intentions. A couple of them are kinda corny but it's in the right direction. Best thing is taking a picture of license plate and driver\s picture, and any other numbers on the car. Talking to a friend while being driven is also a good idea. Let's the driver know they are in touch with someone who can immediately give the police any information should anything happen. As far as being sexually harassed, of course that's total BS. Women aren't in the habit of doing this unless they are prostitutes and that's not harassment, asking if they want services. They can always say no. A predator usually won't admit his actions.
  24. This is the best answer to Lacessit's question. An exchange place in a major city should have in stock anything they advertise exchanging for. Common sense. I have seen this quite a few times in other scenarios. It seems, although a majority are poor or just get by, that they are lazy and don't want to do their jobs. Another thing I see here is lunch time breaks. In America, and I'm guessing most other places, they have a few different lunch break times, so some are always working. When I go to a place that works on my car, they all take breaks at the same time. There are at least 20 mechanics there at any one time, and they're all gone at once, so you have to wait the extra hour, even if your car is 10 minutes from finished.
  25. There are products you can try like Rogaine. Some work. Implants will work, quite a few places in Thailand. here's one........https://www.bangkokhairclinic.co.th/en/
