Peeing in a toilet while standing is disgusting. There will always be drops on the floor all around the toilet, no matter how hard you try to omit that, and I am pretty sure that you don't clean the floor after every time you pee? And here comes the wife sitting down and putting her feet on the floor you messed up.

Ever looked at the floor around urinals in public toilets? There you see what I mean when I say that peeing while standing is making a mess of the floor around it, whether urinal or "normal" toilet.

Peeing in a toilet at home while standing is disrespecting your wife, because she will have to clean up the mess that you caused.

    Wow...that is really nonsense.

First of all, there is no mention of the wife complaining about urine on the ground. The issue is putting the toilet seat down.

Likely being that she gets up to go to the toilet without opening her eyes and finds she is sitting on cold porcelain. Open your eyes woman ????

Think about it; the man lifts the toilet seat in the first place for the woman's convenience; in so they never have to sit on a contaminated seat. All the woman has to do is to remember to put it down. By doing that she has confidence that there is no dried urine on the seat.

Believe me, if it were down, she would have the new issue of wondering whether there is urine on the seat.

But to act as if the man is unwelcome in his own toilet is ridiculous. Take the seat up before you urinate and then put it down again afterwards. Woman.., does nothing. Does she clean the seat after she uses it? Privileged world for some eh?

Personally, I pee standing up and have a fine bleach spray in the bathroom. No bad smells and no bad attitudes.

For me, 3040B is an expensive hotel. Maybe not so for the hiso foreigners who have money to burn on accommodation.

You also need to take into account that the country is not fully open; so no one in their right mind would pay full price. So 3k per night should get you something of a high standard these days. If not, keep looking.

I could not guarantee that this website is correct, but it shows that your phone supports all the bands as my phone and even more:

    https://www.frequencycheck.com/compare-devices/GanAuVzL/samsung-sm-g930f-galaxy-s7-lte-a-samsung-hero/samsung-sm-a510f-ds-galaxy-a5-2016-duos-td-lte

as I can use both 4G and 3G without problems and your phone supports the same network bands - it is some software restriction, not a hardware incompatibility with the network provider.

Try forcing the 3G more via service codes, for example:  *#*#4636#*#*

"Phone information" - "Set Preferred Network Type" - "WCDMA only", or "WCDMA/LTE".

this service menu setting does in fact differ from the usual phone settings!

TOT service is not a mobile service as such; but an alternative to land based Internet.

There is no 3G as far as I know. Just 3CA on Band 40. So it works or it doesn't.

I wish it is this simple. When I visit the AIS store, they don’t even tell you about this and they don’t offer that to you.

Is there something wrong with you? It is exactly as simple as that. Why create difficulties?

What does it have to do with the AIS store?

Do you think someone in the store should know every promo by heart?

I don't know how many times I have written do not ask at the shops or service centres. If it is not printed up specifically in the shop, they will not know about it. Only the call centres will know the latest available promos.

But you don't need to do anything other than what I have described. Yet, you want to make it sound like Origami.

Please, look after yourself. Be competent. Don't expect everyone to do everything for you. You have the information in front of you. Do it yourself and don't blame the shop staff. Promo codes are specialist knowledge.

He has an old iphone with his UK sim and just bought a new Xiaomi with dual sim. He has his AIS sim for calls and will utilise the second slot for the internet sim.

If he gets a good signal from AIS at his place, that would make an argument for the AIS pack. DTAC, whilst offering  unlimited, is an unknown quantity to your friend.

If he intends on watching video; perhaps go for DTAC. For general browsing the AIS pack should be enough.

Is there a short code to activate 1 year internet for an existing dtac number? dont mind if its a little more than the lazada offers

If not the 300baht/month 10mbit is still good value, I can tether with this no problem?  I know some operators in other countries have heuristics to determine if tethering and slow the speed down to 64kbit when detected

No code for annual pack. 10 Mbps is 200; not 300. 20 Mbps is 300 per month.

No throttling nor problem with tethering for normal household usage.

  8. Should clarify that I meant that AIS doesn't have a Prepaid annual option that offers unlimited 10 Mbps bandwidth.

Their offer provides 100 GB per month. Quite possibly enough for your friend if just for general browsing.

You can read about it here: https://www.ais.th/one-2-call/en/marathon1790.html

Cheaper via the oft mentioned outlets.

    Thanks Bruno

He is 81, no idea about speed tests or anything.

Yesterday I showed him how to turn his phones off, he thought one press that puts it in to sleep mode was turning it off.

His sim is AIS, I sent him a detailed note of how to top it up on machine outside 7/11. He said it worked, he got notification straight away that it was topped up by 100 Baht, however, the 100 Baht he tried to put on is UK mobile number he hadn't received notification for...............

So where is the second SIM to be utilised?

DTAC Invincible SIM is around 1390 baht for unlimited data for a year via JD Central/Lazada/Shopee etc. 1600 baht directly from DTAC

120 baht more to uprate the speed to 20 Mbps(if that speed is available at his location). 20 Mbps promo ends this month or has already ended.

AIS doesn't have an annual option. Monthly:

    4Mbps 150 baht

    10 Mbps 200 baht

20 Mbps 300 baht promo not available in/applicable to Hua Hin(Prachuap Khiri Khan)

Available within; Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pathum Thani, Chanthaburi, Tak, Phuket, Chonburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Rayong, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Lopburi, Chiang Rai, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan.

  10. Is it a joke post?

You buy a new SIM for 50 baht, top it up with the required amount and then tap in the USSD code shown.

If you want unlimited free within network calls, tap in  *777*498# and hit the Dial key before topping up. This will change the SIM promo to a Social SIM, which gives unlimited free in-network calls when you top up at least 150 baht.

If you want unlimited any network calls, you can add that for another 59 baht per month.

There is another promo not shown in your screenshot; 20 Mbps for 300 baht.

I have an elderly gentleman friend who is even less tech savvy than me who requires a second prepaid sim for his internet as the service in his condo is dire.

I've read different threads over the last year or so about buying these cheap on Lazada but how much can they be used every month? I don't think he will be downloading anything, just reading news, sending emails and Line and FB but we don't understand the jargon of 4 kbs or 10 mbs or whatever.

Will the one scubascuba mentioned above at 150 Baht per month work? Is that from AIS shop or Lazada?

Any help, especially a link to lazada, will be appreciated.

What is wrong with his first SIM? Which network?

  12. 27 minutes ago, YorkshireTyke said:

Do DTAC sim work everywhere, i.e. is there coverage in Hua Hin?

    Ridiculous ????

Of course it will work; there just is no guarantee of the speed you will receive at any particular location. Ideally, you should check before committing to a long term pack.

What SIM does your friend currently hold? Get him to apply a small full speed one day pack to it and to run a speed test at his place.

In short, whichever ever SIM can get closest to 20 Mbps will be the best for him.

If a network can only offer 10 Mbps at his location, then there is no need to buy a 20 Mbps SIM. You can buy a 10 Mbps SIM for less than the above.

For instance, at my current place and with my current devices; I can only get 4 Mbps with DTAC and True. Whereas I get between 10 Mbps & 17 Mbps with AIS.

In another place, a few kms away and with another device, I would obtain 20 Mbps with DTAC and AIS was dire and unreliable.

Speed test is the best way to determine.

The higher the Mbps, the smoother the experience. Watching YouTube video for instance. Higher quality video with less buffering.

That's a good call, I did in fact buy a Truemove SIM recently, and the helpful lady at the 7 put 300 baht on for me. Haven't tried it out yet, though. I plan on giving all 3 a test.

I wonder if I can get above 20 Mbps with Carrier Aggregation enabled, or is the 20 Mbps a hard limit?

Bear in mind that you can only apply the 20Mbps package within seven days of activating a new SIM.

Here is an example (I've simply cut the 1920x1080 screenshot to 1366x768).

Of course there are different DPI ("dots per inch") screen settings, but still you'll get the point: cols from A to L, 28 rows on 1366px VS cols from A to Q, 37 rows on 1920px. If I lower the DPI on my 1920 screen I'll get even more info on one page, and if you try to lower the DPI on 1366 screen you still won't match the 1920 screen.

Thank you for taking the time to create an illustration for GP. I chose the easy way. If you know someone is not ever going to write something intelligent; you know there will be no downside to putting them on ignore.

an extra 5,200 spreadsheet cells? Yeah, that's very relevant and an absolute must ???? I don't know how can anyone survive without these

now who is embarrassing himself with those silly requests? ????

Request? What request? Have you been drinking  excessively today?

The OP mentioned Excel and Powerpoint. Screen size and resolution are relevant.

  17. 20 minutes ago, GrandPapillon said:

I think the point of "reading emails and web browsing" was to make a point that 4K graphics and special screen size was irrelevant. Most people don't care. All those screens are good enough. If you have to pay much more just for a tiny improvement, then it's ridiculous and pointless for 99% of users. Only an avid Mac user would be that "obsessed" ????

I guess if someone watch porn 24/7 then 4K could be very much relevant and the extra costs fully justified ????

Nobody talked about 4k graphics. Screen size and resolution IS important to the tasks actually mentioned by the OP. it was only you who brought up emails and web browsing.

Now, if you please, stop wasting my time with infantile arguments.

complete nonsense for buying a simple laptop sending emails and browsing the web ????

    Read before posting:

    Quote

I just use it for work... mostly programs such as Excel, PowePoint etc. I don't watch movies on it or stream etc or play games on it.

Can anyone recommend a good mid price laptop? Preferably with a decent size screen rather than a 'notebook'?

Can you see reading email and browsing the web there?

So with Full HD screen you can get more on the screen at one time. IPS means better viewing angles.

So to suggest that they are all the same is simply idiotic. To compound such behaviour by attempting to Troll the thread makes you look even worse.
