Good suggestion. Will look out for TWS at that price. If they've worked well for you for some time, I am interested.

    Thanks. ????????????

TWS will have more than one model. Buy a couple of pairs; either from Mr DIY or the ones that scuba suggests. They need recharging. Wife won't be impressed if they conk out in the middle of a program; so a second pair already charged and ready to swap might be a solution.

Experiencing the same sort of pain 15 years later after more than a decade pain free is not the same condition getting worse.

It is a new condition affecting the same nerve(s).

He is 15 years older now and quite likely has age-related degenerative changes. Needs new work up and diagnosis first, then treatment based on findings.

Condition is caused by utilising the body in the wrong manner in the first place. Surgery doesn't fix that.

All conditions that I had (shoulder(bike accident) and knee(repetitive building work), lower back) fixed themselves without the suggested surgery; in just the way I described.

Understand and remember how the body works and you can eliminate those repetitive injuries.

Until you have that kind of injury yourself, you are simply an observer.

    Hi userabcd,

Khop kun khap! That's the absolutely simple, easy-to-grasp info I needed. Thanks. ????

I would go for the premium, not cos I'm a high-roller, but cos I darned well just bought a 4k TV and so I want to USE it! ????

I think I read somewhere the cards come at different prices - obviously! - but not 420 baht for example. So the card's 500 (I think). So netflix hopes you'll buy another card to use the credit left? Or makes a few bucks if I don't get a new card? Ain't complaining. Fine with that. Just wondered if that's how it is.

    ????????

Perhaps you should take the time to update your other thread:

No they don't. I have gone many years without a smart phone and only the fact that I can't call a Bolt taxi has has convinced me that I need one. I have had  a PC that has provided all my internet needs for many years.

Also I'm not on Social Media so I don't need to send photos of my dinner to anyone , who probably  don't give a monkey's anyway. I hope this help explains  what I want and why I want a cheap phone with a cheap internet package.

You can follow the same advice as for xylophone. Not too large.

If you don't need data on the phone then switch off mobile data/cellular data from within the settings.

When you need data, buy a cheap package just for the time that you need to use it and then toggle the mobile data switch within your phone settings to On.

DTAC will give you 128kbps connection all day for 2 baht. Though you might choose a faster package if there are maps involved.

  5. Why do you think that it is getting worse?

Some repetitive movement that leads to inflammation?

The more relaxed you are, the more you can move in a way that spreads the strain more evenly around the body.

Since you write that it got better; to me it sounds like a repetitive strain reaction.

Learn to move your body with a more relaxed manner. Practice in the water if you can swim. The goal being that you can take the strain off that part of your body. That's how aches and pains can appear to move around.

Maybe you'll need a painkiller or similar to get you started; in so that you aren't afraid to make big movements in order to free yourself from stiffness.

  6. I do it slightly differently, as always. ????

If you already have  Windows 10 installation media suitable for your device containing an install.wim and you know how to download(or already have) Windows 11 media containing an install.wim. you can simply replace the Windows 10 install.wim with the Windows 11 install.wim.

Well you have echoed my sentiments exactly, although I wasn't clear from your post.

What I objected to was my friend telling me what I should have when he had no idea what I needed, and hardly any idea of how to use his!

Yes I did see 5s, although my voice recognition software didn't pick it up, so I did look online at the 5s, and although an old phone, it might well do the trick, should I decide to go down that track.

So thank you for the tip, and I am lucky inasmuch as a friend of mine gets a new Apple iPhone every couple of years, and I may well be in line for one of his old ones, so that, along with your recommendation should meet my needs if I have to get one for the Thai apps etc, if I don't, then I will stick with my trusty Nokia flip phone.

I aslo don't need a huge mega-phone with all of the bells and whistles. In fact my phone doesn't even go outside.

I checked that the apps you might need, work on the 5s.

My 5s was also a 'hand me down'. I use a few apps here and there; as will you.

But if he willing to give you any model above the 5s for free; grabbit!

Android would always be the last choice for me; due to the interminable tracking. In fact I just gave a Redmi Note 10 away without ever having touched it.

I don't know what you're referring to when you say, "your friend is right, you appear to be making a mountain out of a mole hill"?

This because I have said that I may get a second hand iPhone or similar small smart phone, and I would purely use it for the things I have stated, whereas my laptop at home would be my main use.

I also suggested the Samsung J2 may be a contender, although another poster has said that it won't handle even the Thai app, so I don't really know what your post is aimed at??

Having said that, I will do a little research on the iPhone 5.

    Referring to all of this...:

    Quote

I had let this fade into the background until yesterday when a friend of mine who was waxing lyrical about his second-hand iPhone kept saying to me that I should get one, because I can watch YouTube on it – – I told him I never watch YouTube. He then suggested that I can plug earphones into it and listen to it, something I told him that I don't want to do.

I told him that I have my computer at home and I answer my emails in the morning and sometimes later in the afternoon, and that's all I want, because I don't want them following me around. However he couldn't understand that because he is tapping away all of the time, and always complaining about being stressed out – – I wonder why.

Getting back on track, I did look at a smartphone or two and I don't want a large beast to carry around, and the smallest I could see which MAY be of interest to me would be the Samsung J2 (which I believe is still available) and the Apple SE (the smaller one).

It's just a phone. If you don't want to do much with it, then don't spend a lot on it.

    I wrote 5s; not 5.

It would be used only as a phone and I don't want any other apps on it apart from those applicable to Covid and immigration.

Perhaps the OP would like to look at the Samsung J2 as an option.

Your friend is right. You appear to be making a mountain out of a molehill.

A second hand iPhone would suit you perfectly. Even a sub 2000 baht iPhone 5s. can run the Thai apps. It also fit your size criteria.

I think it partially depends on the capacity of the tower as well.  So every location is different depending what tower you are hitting.

Anyways, unlimited plans on 3-4-5G is generally not a good thing.  More often than not it ends up causing the cell sites to become congested.  Especially during peak hours.  Most so called 'unlimited' plans I have seen have small print that says anything over a certain amount per month and they will start throttling you.

Please don't make things up, presenting your imagination as fact:

Post even a single example of an unlimited 1/2/4/10/20 Mbps package that states what you suggest.

Nothing on the screen, no POST from BIOS. The RAM sticks gets warm, they wouldn't do that if they were dead, would they? No beeps, I got no systemboard speaker, going to Tukcom to get one now.

What's the exact Motherboard involved? Have you attempted a BIOS recovery? Unlikely. but possible.

Yes Thailand has changed but at least it is still full of Thai people,my old home town in the UK was once a nice working class town with a few factories and a few immigrants ,now no factories ,the town is full of women covered all over ,men in clothes i only used to see in Bangladesh when i visited. There are drug gangs from places like Rumania and African countrys ,hardly any of the old indigenous people . To be blunt its now a well starts with sh and ends in hole, and that was over 2 years ago when we went back for a few weeks.

The way things seem there now you dare not say most things in case your classed some sort of " ist" no thanks i will end my days here where things are still normal.

Also in the last month a boy was stabbed to death outside my daughters old school and a drug gang fight ended in a death .

    Oh how Britain has changed.

Where are the 'indigenous' people? Did they just die or did they move...or did they all decamp to Thailand?

All the years that I have been perusing the forums, I see the same old themes.

First it was attacks on the women. Western women were fat and ugly; whereas Thai women were described as feminine and caring. Then the sheen came off as the Thai women ripped them off left, right and centre.

They abused their own women and abandoned their country.

    Say most things? Like what?

Are the immigrants to blame for the factories no longer being there? No factories; no jobs. The indigenous moved out and poor immigrants moved in and kept the town alive. Reminds me of Phra Tamnak and the Russians. Truly dead before they arrived.

Homogenous? Is it a joke? No Burmese, Chinese, Lao, Cambodian etc here? What about you? Are you part of the homogeneity?

How about those who objected to the Russians, Chinese, the Indians and the Arabs visiting? The type that thinks the place should only be for westerners.

The same type who complain about foreigners in their native countries?

Unhappy people; spreading unhappiness wherever they go. Flocking together to complain and abuse.

Have a lot of history involving depression, including my own family (ex-girlfriend has it, and our daughter has it, her both parents had it, one hung himself, and also the grandmother),my cousin, on medication after suffering for years and doing well. My best friend killed himself way back when there were few meds available (1987), and had everything going well in his life. My now ex wife has it and it is a main reason we are divorced. My girlfriend here has had it for years, and after I lead her to seeing a doctor, and bolstered her low self esteem, is taking Lorazapam and Prozac, and doing much better. Her doctor told her he wanted to get her off the meds, and that isn't a good idea, as you might really need them .One potential biological cause of depression is an imbalance in the neurotransmitters which are involved in mood regulation. Certain neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine, play an important role in mood. Meaning meds can work, along with therapy, exercise, good diet, and a good environment. My girlfriend has been controlled by family for years, and this of course leads to bad feelings about oneself. Exercise, good diet and environment can help a lot, but a chemical imbalance cannot be changed naturally. The wrong meds can hurt more, and it sometimes takes quite awhile to find the right one or combination. Some get environmental depression that passes, and life changes can cause temporary depression also. Everyone gets depressed, but some get it to the extreme. Back when my friend took his life, he had a great wife, pets, house, job, played drums, was a class clown (symptom sometimes, like Robin Williams), and had many friends. He was losing his hair, and some, including his wife, thought that was the reason he went into his van, put the exhaust with a pipe into it, closed the doors and fell asleep. Back then, before I experienced the problems with my little girls mom, read three books and many articles, and tried to help her, I didn't understand why my friend died. I remembered when we were hanging out, he liked to sleep a lot during the day (major symptom), always was joking around, (to deflect pain), and self medicated. If I had known then what I do now, along with everyone else, he might still be with us. I would definitely see a competent doctor, and try what they suggest, along with doing things naturally by yourself.

    I don't agree with this; but I won't argue.

People live unnatural lives. They are told that this is what is expected of you and this is the way life is supposed to be.

But that often doesn't tally with the way they actually feel.

Some of us figure it out and learn to live in harmony with nature. Others see no way out.

Antidepressant meds will be a last resort for me. I'll start with trying meditation, which I've never done before, more exercising, more sun, and see how that goes first.

and be nicer and more tolerant. Do you have access to a swimming pool? Another great place for relaxing the mind and body. Should be a daily thing for you; come rain or come shine. Floating, breathing, working out where the tensions lie and learning how to relax them.

Devote time for your good health. Rebuild your confidence. You might think that this is all about you, but you are much the same as the rest of us; so the advice is true for all.

Remember "no man is an island...". One might think they don't need anyone; but in fact we need everyone.

Be good to yourself and everyone else, as far as you can do so. If you cannot, work on that. Continue to be better at all that you do.

Negativity is like a slide downhill; super easy for it to overtake your life if you let it. Positivity is a slow uphill climb. The more you do it, the easy it becomes. Until it is like breathing; totally normal.

You talk about being eighty as if it is a negative thing. I try to tell you that you should not think that way; even if you feel that way right now. If you believe that it only goes one way from there, then that is where you will take yourself.

Regenerate, rather than degenerate. Don't be afraid of yourself. Tackle a difficult hill a bit at a time until you can take it in your stride, breathing deeply and calmly. Don't try to run; walk....until you feel your mind and body working in concert and then apply a little more pressure. Keep the breathing deep and steady.

You aren't there to prove anything to anyone. It's for you. You know how you feel inside.

Don't tell yourself that you cannot. Tell yourself that you can do anything; it will just take practice. Don't give up. Stop, relax and continue on.

All the aches and pains of 'old age' that you think are permanent, aren't necessarily. They are often just the result of repetitive movement in a single direction, out of habit. But our bodies are multidirectional. When you relax your mind and body enough, you will realise that and perhaps subsequently realise that there is a lot more life in the old dog than you initially imagined.

It doesn't matter if I describe you exactly or not. It's not about you. It's about us....humans.

The fact that you get angry about what I write is a symptom of the stress in your body; so you snap.

I don't take it to heart; because I know what I do is good. So I feel good no matter what you write.

Yes that is correct.  I cannot rely upon a solution that involves some random third party.  I need a hard solution I can manage from my end.

@Bruno123is a bit bossy at times but he definitely what he is talking about.

Unbenknown to me there is actually a AIS Buddy shop here.  I went there yesterday but they told me they cant do number porting and that closest option is Airport at Phuket.

I will try to get down there later this week health permitting.

I intend to do the 4444151 call to get the MNP from True while standing in their office in the Airport.  Then walk to the AIS office with the code to get it to them and get my new sim.

No. You it you before you set out on your journey ????  If not; you need to call their call centre. You don't need a Truemove H shop at all. a shop CANNOT give you a code; so it will be a waste of time.

The code will still be valid by the time you arrive at the airport. Better you have it at hand before leaving, than standing at the airport whistling in the wind waiting for it to arrive.

You seem to need to do things in a certain way...even if it doesn't make any sense at all.

Why for instance, don't you listen when I write CALL AIS. Stop visiting shops and asking. The call centre can give you all of the information that you need and implement any changes. But instead you go from one shop to the other.

The networks simplified the process so that everything could be done quickly and efficiently; but you seem to make it much more complicated than is necessary; adding steps just to go back to the old fashioned way.

The call centres can do things that most of the shops cannot. Speak to them. 1175 for AIS. You don't need to speak to True unless the code doesn't arrive. But you want to stand outside their booth anyway.  ????  Belt and braces eh? ????
