That's about an 11% drop. It's gained that much against the THB since we finally left in January.

A lot of the damage was done in 2018/2019 at the height of the Remainer meltdown. Had Remainers accepted the result we'd have probably left in 2018 with much less damage and a better deal and we'd be back to 2015 levels by now. But no, they tried to overturn it because they "knew best".

A great lesson to Remainers everywhere. Respect Democratic process. Otherwise, you end up in a similar mess to the one that Labour and the Lib Dems are in now. People have long memories.

Nonsense! You just made that all up.

During 2018 to 2019, as shown by my chart, there was hardly any movement at all. The move from 1.37 to 1.22 to 1.14 is clearly shown from Dec 2015 to Dec 2017; outside the years that you claim damage done by Remainers.

It happened clearly because of the result of the Referendum. No one was expecting it and it threw a horseshoe in the works. Rather disingenuous of you to attempt to rewrite history in the face of cold hard facts.

Check the charts for yourself, instead of just making things up to try to fit your narrative.

Laughable that the usual suspects 'liked' your post without even checking the figures. You claim an 11% drop, but you failed to take into account that it again dropped from 1.22 to 1.14 and has stayed in that band ever since. 1.37 to 1.14 is a 16.8% difference. No doubt you will try to bend the truth to fit again.

Now let us look at your other claim regarding Thai Baht:

    31 Dec 2015 52.362552
    31 Dec 2016 47.853392
    31 Dec 2017 43.691437
    31 Dec 2018 43.107992
    31 Dec 2019 39.639054
    31 Dec 2020 40.128385
    12 Jul 2021 42.877085

52.36 before the referendum. It is only climbing now because of the disastrous handling of the economy and COVID by the current government. Nothing to do with Brexit.

So please; less propaganda and more reality.

Financial markets hate uncertainty and the UK spent four years in disarray in regards to leaving the E.U , with the Remainers trying to overturn the referendum result and voting *No* to all the leaving proposals and hoping for Corbyn/Labour to form the next Government , who would hold another referendum and try to get the "right" result that time

Nope. But nice try. It dropped immediately after the result and continued to do so. It actually stabilised during the 'attempts to overturn the result' and it has stayed in the same band ever since.

Do you have some evidence as to otherwise?

It took 4 years for the Remainers to drag Britain to those depths. It might well take 4 years to rise back to the surface.

    How did they do that?

Dropped from 1.38 to 1.22 in the year of the Referendum. How did the Remainers achieve that? That would be the Leavers....

I had to do this for some time in the village (DTac) Problem is if you use a lot

(like an android box) you seem to be always "topping up"

If you are online a lot get a fixed rate through True or similar

It is a one time payment; no topping up necessary for 12 months.

    Unlimited internet 1 year ( 4 mb/s ) Sim card .

Just go to a true shop to register , that's all . Makes your phone become a wifi hotspot .

Works just fine for me ...

It states clearly 10 Mbps and is just a repost of what has already been posted.

You can tell by his manners and beliefs that his education seems to be from “Hood University”….

… A young person, with supposedly a lot of money, who boasts about being retired and travels a lot with a young blondie and believes to be above the laws…..

… Where did the money come from? Drugs, arms, scams,… endless list. Is it not clear enough?

He was extremely lucky that it was a lone white farang who dared confront him… because had it been Thais, there would have been 15 of them ganging up on him in no time… And he honestly deserved such a reality check… Specially provided that he was the first one to be extremely violent.

“Tough” hood 25yo retired schmuck VS 15 Thais on a street fight… what you reckon would happen?

It is so enlightening to read the words of certain characters here. It reveals so much about their characters.

Drugs? Arms? Scams? Endless list in your brain. Why so desperate to slur?

Gang violence? Wishfully hoping for a gang attack on someone?

It seems to me that all of this is going on in your head. Your violence. Your ugly thoughts.

Yes, that guy was an idiot.  Are you any better? It seems to me that you are even worse; but too afraid to act out your thoughts.

British guy was not fearful and called the idiots bluff. He was never going to attack. He just thought that the sight of his youth and physique would win the argument. Failed. Then some stupid argument about touching mask and face. Failed.

Absolutely nothing to do with the colour of his skin. Just someone who thinks he is smarter than he actually is. But yet, soooo many of the posts here refer to his colour. Why?

I have broken up many potential fights in Pattaya; none of them involving black guys. Same tactics of trying to use physique to intimidate. Did not cross my mind to invite fifteen Thais to the party; I just stepped in between myself and put a stop to it.

Foreigners have died from actual violence against each other; but not once have I read anyone hope that the perpetrator should be attacked by fifteen Thais or....

It seems to me that there are way too many keyboard warriors here; hiding behind their keyboards spouting racism and violence and bitterness at the failure of their own lives. Why else would they be jealous of what someone else may have?

Move on and find something useful to do with your lives. Something that makes you happy, in so that you don't have to sit making up things about a young man and his girlfriend to get you through the hour.

It is not the price , before we paid 1200 baht , it is the service

I have no idea what you mean. If you have a problem with DTAC, then go with one of the other networks.

You need a back-up, even with another terrestrial provider. That way you aren't waiting around for someone to fix the main line.

  9. You should have a back up.

    Example: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sim-dtac-10mbps-internet-unlimited-10mbps-1-simnet-789-i2322710468-s7847590773.html

DTAC of course if you can get a good signal where you live. Otherwise Truemove H and AIS have a similar product, though a bit more expensive.

Good enough for streaming and most household usage. It's actually unlimited, as opposed to those products that claimed it in the past, but slowed down after you used a certain volume of data.

Monthly option is 200 to 300 baht per month.  The 12 month SIM works out to 117 baht per month

Hey guru, do these sim cards come with a number which can be used to call out from?

Also, how would I go about registering the sim card with my passport?

Yes, all have inclusive unlimited 'within network' free calls. DTAC 15 minutes per call. Truemove H, 30 minutes per call. AIS may have all network calls included; 30 minutes per call.

    https://www.dtac.co.th/prepaid/registration/

Truemove H at Service Centre or video call to call centre(contact them and request to register).

    AIS: AIS: https://www.ais.th/one-2-call/howto_activate/en/index.html

Another Friendship between WS and the intersection?

I must have missed it, distracted by other attractions.

Basement of Tukcom: 100% TOPS, 0 Friendship.

Friendship and TOPS in a race for record prices.

TOPS: 71 Baht for a carton of Malee juice (55 at Makro, 49 at some Chinese store in our area).

Chocolate at Friendship always leader of the pack.

Hard to find a more expensive place. Even Central on the beach comes cheaper.

Bread and bakery at Friendship avoided.

Not even close to BigC Extra.

I wonder why no one mentions the "new" glasshouse left to Friendship.

Some "exotic" cooking/baking supplies, kitchen hardware etc.

When I am in Pattaya: BigC Extra has almost all that I fancy. Plus occasional buy at Central on the beach.

Don't agree with you at all. Friendship do have some good prices. Maybe not always for the things for which you buy; though for the things that I buy the prices are either competitive or unbeatable.

For instance, their honey(thaihoney.net) 360 grs is 56 baht, as compared to 86 baht everywhere else. Currently they have 500 grams of unsalted Anchor butter for 170 baht.

There are many things that I buy there that are competitive.

For actual unlimited data SIM; DTAC is the cheapest, at 1390 baht for 12 months of Internet usage: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sim-net-dtac-dtac-10mbps-12-muntookdee-i1154204644-s2700554573.html

    Then Truemove H at 1890 baht; https://www.lazada.co.th/products/10mbps-sim-net-true-1-4g-unlimited-i548834295-s995312071.html

    Followed by AIS @ 2199 baht: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/ais-8-mbps-10-mbps-24-1-i1609074603-s4399518021.htm

But first get a normal 50 baht SIM and run a speed test to make sure you can get the full 10 Mbps.

If you want to use it for your home Internet connection, you can buy a router:

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/tp-link-300-mbps-wireless-n-4g-lte-router-tl-mr100-3-by-vnix-group-i1360246763-s3435058265.html

    or

Their Official shop charges more: https://shopee.co.th/shop/52924097/search?shopCollection=7603552

Of course tethering from your LG phone will work too 5G not an issue since you will be capped at 10 Mbps.

As an aside and off-topic I know; anyone who wants to have the real thing and not the rubbish they call Parmesan locally, can find this Organic/BIO Parmigiano Reggiano: https://www.carrefour.fr/p/parmigiano-reggiano-bio-aop-carrefour-bio-3560070924950 at half price at TOPS Central Festival. 190 baht. Ignore the price on the label. Good stuff. Cheapskates need not apply. It's quality at a reasonable price.

Just as an update; they are all gone. Someone grabbed most of them a couple of days afterwards. To save anyone making a wasted journey.

What amazes me is the lack of decent Chinese Food restaurants. I tried a couple here, only to find they were "British" Chinese, where literally every dish is served like a stew.
(Beef in Black Bean, Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour, etc, all served in so much sauce it looks more like soup. Or like Thai curry dishes where you have to fish the food out of the sauce.)

One thing a lot of the big chains do is require the franchisees to order key ingredients from the parent company. This is done to keep the taste consistent. For example, Tim Hortons franchises have to order the (premade) donuts from the parent company, then unthaw and cook them on location. There are even rules about the water used to make the coffee (and how long a pot can stay on the heater before being thrown out) so that a donut and cup of coffee bought in Chilliwack, BC will taste the same as a donut and coffee bought in Chicoutimi, Quebec (4,600 kms away).

I'm guessing Taco Bell would have to source most of it's "Mexican" content from the US as well to keep the flavour consistent but as others have noted, it's not "authentic" Mexican anymore than Chop Suey is "authentic" Chinese (having been "invented" in the USA according to some legends).

But that's really no different than trying to find "authentic" Thai food outside of Thailand. I'm almost embarrassed to eat in a Thai restaurant in Canada (or some place like Dubai) as it is usually quite disappointing. (Or "authentic" German food in Pattaya.)

Hard for them to get authentic ingredients even if they have "authentic" cooks to prepare the dishes.

Shanghai on 3rd Road wasn't bad on my visits. Haven't tried it since the renovation.

I purchased an AIS SIM on 15 February 2021 under the promotion of 10 Mbps for 300 baht per month. The lady at the kiosk told me it is only good for 6 months.

My profile on the AIS website indicates "Mobile service year 5 months" as of today. What does this mean?

What are my options to keep this AIS number and continue service? Would it help to visit an AIS shop in the mall? Thank you.

It means that you have owned the SIM for five months... If you get an SMS stating that the promotion has ended, call Customer Service and ask them to extend. If no go(unlikely to say no) then porting your number to a new DTAC or Truemove H SIM and adding a 10 Mbps promo to that is an alternative.

Sorry to show my ignorance but I have an AIS Sim card for years paying about 500  per month.  I use for data, LINE ,some TV on line and some phone calls etc.  Most of the time I connect the phone to home WiFi.

If I buy one of these annual sims from Lazada or Shopee, can I transfer my existing  simcard phone number. Sorry if it's a 'dummies' question.

Call AIS Customer Service and tell them exactly what you have written here. That you have been with them for many years and all of your friends on AIS in a similar position have been offered unlimited 10 Mbps for...name your price: Anything from 150 baht monthly for data only to 250 baht, for data and calls.

Some here have been offered it; so don't be afraid. Just be gently insistent in a calm and polite manner.
