Bangkok Redlight Nightlife Empty??
Nothing like it used to be back in the good old 90s. Fairer prices & nicer girls. Also 95% western customers. Times have certainly changed.

I got scammed by a taxi driver!
Had a few 'very fast meters' in Bangkok. Each time told the driver in Thai that I know the distance & cost of the journey as I take it often. I tell him how much I will give him & to stop the meter. They always accepted.

Are the water dispensers in Thailand safe to drink?
My apartment has a water dispenser. I've started using it a couple of times a week for about 6 months. I do continue to buy water from 7-11 too. Actually can't notice the difference and feel okay. The dispenser looks like it gets 'cleaned' once every 6 or 12 months. Have to check the paper on the dispenser again.

Bangkok air smells like garbage tonight
I take the same walk a few times a week in Bangkok. I know the areas where it's best not to breathe for a short time. There's the garbage smelling area followed by the sewage smelling area by the small canal. 🤢

What visa to stay 175 days a year to avoid 800k deposit in bank?
Do you still have a Thai debit card? I got a new card from Bangkok Bank last week. The member of staff when she copied my passport info page and latest visa stamp said, "Oh, you are retired" I wonder if I would have had a problem if I now had just a tourist stamp. 🤔

Sept & Oct usually have the heaviest rains, but it will certainly rain in August too. Heavy downpours last around an hour or two.

Why do so many people smoke in Thailand?
I'd say that 90% of Thai male adults (not well educated) probably smoke. I guess it's cheap, & they're addicted now. They possibly think it's cook & manly too. As for me, it's a disgusting habit!

In 2023, Thailand shifted away from cash just as Sweden asked to see it protected
I think 3 times last year the supermarket I frequent often was accepting cash only coz the system was down. No cash meant an hour or more wait. People should always have more than one payment option which includes cash.
