  1. Not to mention the cheese and the wines, etc. BUT (drum rolls please) it is not as easy finding "life" partners in your grandchildren age range...in abundance and you don't have to be a millionaire. That's the elephant in the room, mon cher.
  2. Now that the faces of the suspects are made public, a childhood jingles came to mind: "Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques, ding daeng dong, ding daeng dong," Roughly translated as "Beware of the company you keep."
  3. A tad of profanity would make - sorry to resort to cliche'- Biden "more human" to us his loyal fans. I was a bid worried when he did his victory lap on stage in 2020... :Go Joe!" we all were praying under our breath.
  4. "Pakistani, transport and dissection of the body" - Another Dr. "Bone saw?" Seems like we are now getting into "Khashoggi" territories. No mention of a fourth partner though: Olaf's housemate, another German, handicapped, who fled with Olaf the morning after Olaf being interviewed by the polis. (ie yesterday morning). The plot thickens considerably with the "entrance/exit" of PP (Party Petra.)
  5. Thanks for the tip, the hotel looks great - especially the pool! A good place to make "plan of attack" on Phanom Rung.
  6. Thanks so much for the link. This vlog got me salivating! Hopefully we can set sail soon, sometime this month....Will definitely report back.
  7. Thanks for the tip. Yes, we also plan to visit MT. Actually there is a string of little temples/ruins from Phi Mai which is the start of the royal road, or El Camino Real if you are a Californian like I am, passing Phanom Rung going on to Siem Reap...Unfortunately we don't drive.
  8. Thank you for the tip. Will look into that. Phimai seems like a nice walkaround place for a day or two.
  9. Thank you for the post, very nice pics. Unfortunately both of us though fit are a bit too frail to handle motosai. So it looks like we would have to "charter" something if no public transportation is available.
  10. Thank you for the advice, much appreciated!
  11. Sounds great, thanks! Anything similar from Korat to Phanom Rung? Or do we have to get to Buriram first?
  12. Look like a "must" - will "investigate," thanks.
  13. Thanks for the tip. Any other secondary ones worth a peek? I think we'll do meung tam as well, since we have the time...
  14. I've seen those at Lotus - Korean product? - and thought that they had teflon-like coating as well. Are you sure they are not coated with anything?
  15. We're one fit senior couple planning to visit Phi Mai + Phanom Rung for a 1 week/10 days trip, coming up from BKK and using Korat as base. We are not so keen on motosai taxis (short 1-2 km distance is ok but not longer or our nerves will get frayed...) and would like to get info on 4-wheeled transportation. Besides renting a van/car with driver for ourselves, just wondering about most current options on using public bus/minivan etc. to get to the temples. Thank you in advance for any tips or advice/price range.
  16. Thank you for the advice. The photos are beautiful. Was your trip recent? if so could I ask what kind of transportation you used and the cost? Thanks.
  17. For "extra warm fuzzy feeling," in the future I would send the original letter via regular mail, and at the same time a copy via registered mail (with some explanation in the note box to the effect of "if original one has arrived, please discard this one.") I think that should work especially well if one gets the July reminder. Re the above quoted "mailing test", the "registered" option seems to take an extra 10 to 20 days, all this taking place on US soil AND pre-covid. This is inacceptable for a 1st world country. Let alone the fact that the result is far from satisfactory ("2 of the 3 registered airmails did not show final delivery.") I am not trying to wag a political finger here, but fact remains fact. USPS has been done a lot of damages during the previous presidential era, and it seems that it has not been "rehabilitated" by now 3 years later into the new administration. I find that "shameful." On the other hand, my respect for USPS personnel remains intact. I never forget one instant eons ago when late one night, almost 11 pm, I saw a USPS truck still lurking around the mail box rows of my neighborhood. I got near and found a rotund black (sorry for sounding totally un-pc) postwoman still unloading stuff from her vehicle. Upon my inquiry she said "I can't go home till the truck is empty." My hat off to her. And my heart goes out to them now knowing they have been toiling and chafing under the reign of the big bad wolf for the last several years, and are continuing to do so.
  18. Thanks for the info, helpful to know...In other words, USPS can/will NOT tracked registered mail, but only give out delivery info... Therefore if no delivery (or attempt at) occurs because the mail gets lost somewhere on its journey then USPS will not have anything to track after, did I read that right? Then it's shameful as a public service. If that's the case it should crap "registered" altogether and hang on to the "delivery confirmation" option only. I've long been suspecting many weird postal phenomenons coming off Trump-era as the "de Joy" affect, especially post covid. Looks like he is still at his post and holding the US public hostage (his warning, "Get used to ME.")
  19. I got my 7162 on 6/19, mailed back registered 6/22. Last update on thai post (pic 1) is "hand over to carrier" from Swampy on 6/24 so I assume that it has gotten on a flight. Over on USPS (pic 2) it still shows one of the updates on 6/24 at Swampy. I figure it must have gotten on US soil by now?

  21. In my case, after consulting with wise men on this forum, I did not present/include my tattered TM6 when doing my extension earlier this year. The lady IO didn't ask for it as well. But later after getting the new extension I went back to do the 90 day report. This time the male IO did ask for it. I pretended to fumble in my briefcase for awhile, then I guess he didn't want to wait so he claimed that he had found my TM6 (somewhere) in the "system" (pointing to his monitor screen, which of course I couldn't see from the other side of the window.)
  22. Thank you, for getting back to the subject at hand: for a gay man such as yours truly, who needs "LGBTQ+ paradise" when a typically hard-working (pre-covid) BKK gay bath-house, which is rather like a modern version of "Arabian Nights" aka "One thousand and One nights" - or shall I say, "afternoons" - any day of the week, is more than one can "handle..." That's what I love about the Thais, they go about everyday business without much fanfare. In short, they "deliver" without the fuss.
