  1. After minutes waiting this is what comes up on website:
  2. Believe "territories where use is not permitted" may mean Cuba/North Korea or such rather than any country other than USA.
  3. I guess I am missing out as have been using Gmail for years and never been asked for anything - it just works and is open in tab when I activate Chrome - if close tab by mistake just type 'mail' in address bar and it is back - no need for any authentication or log in. As for Google search appreciate having search results for Thailand that location provides but do wish it could be done without using Thai year dates.
  4. Not just 2010 - about every 10 years that city seems to go under water - I was there just after the 2000 floods where water was above level of parked cars - still remember the smell of (dried out) share taxi rides.
  5. Actually all are Chinese and Lenovo is far from rubbish. For most people expect mini PC and TV/monitor will provide some of the best bang for the baht but if of the tablet generation (fingers on screen) can not suggest much to OP but agree reports are Ryzen generation is the way to go for future proof.
  6. But hip-waders suggested April-Nov. ????
  7. Had two catch fire from loose contacts and others had same issues - the plastic burnt like paper. And they were not high power devices. A fan and a TV.
  8. As I posted that was a starting price - there are more expensive versions. Most things for sale everywhere in the world is made in China these days. These new units are a far cry from from the units sold here in the past.
  9. I posted a link to such hours ago - there were pages of them. No shortage at all and have bought several this year. What there are not are the supermarket 100 baht power strips that used to be sold and were a real danger. New units in the 300 baht range appear to be snug fitting and are flame resistant. Here is a general page from Lazada with many having universal outlets. https://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?q=power+strips&_keyori=ss&from=input&spm=a2o4m.home.search.go.1125c4ccxAnOPe Edit: we seem to have cross posted. Believe there has been a recent increase in number/types available.
  10. Nothing can fix that (other than new outlet hole/box/sockets) - normal dual sockets do not have enough room and they are two sockets molded together. I normally remove Shuko and replace with US 3 pin type (Thai type is now available also - but can be a PIA getting right pin alignment as all look the same) to save room.
  11. It appears they did not have enough change to break the 1k note rather than not accepting cash. Always best to have lower bills for such an issue but most times if you can not pay any other way they will find someone to borrow cash from in my experience (if they don't actually have in bottom drawer).
  12. There are adaptors available and there as sockets available if needed. Have both. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/wonpro-wa-gfr5b-2-3-i1803946360-s5363522571.html
  13. I have had no issues buying universal power outlet strips this year. What have gone are the cheap, loose fitting, easy to catch fire, 100 baht type units that used to be sold by supermarkets. Those being sold now are much higher quality and higher priced. Below is one of the cheaper strips with examples of plugs it will accept. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/t11-3ac-socket-usb-3-port-2-3000w100-750-i2112650854-s7098076176.html
  14. Yes, in time you should get your money back, and that is very important for large savings/retirement type money. But Wise is not offering that kind of system - they offer to act as holding station for weekly/monthly pay pending your transfer to other accounts/countries. Not designed for huge amounts from individuals so even in worst case should not be that much of a loss.
  15. No they won't - they have already given that money to others as loans and have no money - if insured it is the insurance (government) that foots the bill and the taxpayer that pays in the bill. Wise money is always on deposit and available for payment - so as long as no actual fraud (like has recently occurred with crypto) the money should be available to pay back. And as Wise is not designed as an interest paying account (savings) most people would not lose there life savings as could happen with a bank.
  16. That sounds like a valid scam concern as Thailand has become a major transfer point for Indian scammers.
  17. Yes I keep a few thousand in account at times and have no real fear - they are real - have real people at real address and keep money available (unlike banks). This is not a crypto currency black hole.
  18. Betnovate-N Cream has been a medical box must have for decades and is available at any pharmacy. It should not be used long term but for bites and cuts it is our first choice. But also agree Tiger Balm Gold may be all that is required to reduce pain of insect bite. And this is another must have.
  19. Thanks - took it wrong. Perhaps some special procedures due to the 3.5 million fraudulent accounts?
  20. No source for that news? Bar talk? FYI: have used without VPN from Bangkok to 3 US banks online banking within last 20 minutes; Chase, USAA and 1stBank. All normal.
  21. But you do have access and can use at any time - just would have to make other arrangements for visa. So for a medical emergency it is there - so for some might make sense to have.
