Labor minister Suchart Chomklin congratulated Thai participants who earned medals from the 46th WorldSkills event, known this year as WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition. Thai participants earned a silver medal in the CNC (Turning) category and 6 Medallions for Excellence in the CNC (Milling) category. Medallions for Excellence were also earned in the categories of Mechatronics, Health and Social Care, 3D Digital Game Art, Cooking, and Restaurant Service. Mr. Suchart said the awards received demonstrated Thailand’s capacity and readiness in producing workers whose quality meets the global standard. Thailand’s participation at the WorldSkills event will elevate the skill levels of its workers and thus lead to the generation of added economic value. Thailand’s competitiveness on the world stage will also benefit from an elevation of worker skills. The WorldSkills competitions are expected to contribute to friendships and appreciation of one another among the international participants. This would benefit future cooperation in labor skills development at the international level. The labor minister noted experience on the global stage is highly valuable and asked that Thai participants use said experience to improve their skills. He also expressed his appreciation for various agencies that supported the participants by providing training venues and funds. The national police and Bangkok city hall have revealed a set of measures they will be implementing during the event. The Royal Thai Police and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have prepared a set of security and traffic control measures for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (ALEW), which will be starting on 14 November. Leaders from 21 Asia-Pacific economies are expected to convene in Bangkok for the most important APEC meetings of the year, making the ALEW one of the most important international meetings hosted by Thailand in years. Royal Thai Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas and the Governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sittipunt chaired a meeting with related agencies for the leaders’ week preparation, at which key security measures were discussed. Around 100 security cameras will be installed in addition to the existing ones along the leaders’ and participants’ travel routes, meeting venues, and accommodations. Related agencies have been rehearsing emergency response plans, as well as the transportation of economic leaders. Security agencies have been closely monitoring for any concerning movements that could take place during the ALEW, and have encouraged the BMA’s city law enforcement officials, vendors, and public transport drivers to report any suspicious activities to security officials. Transportation in Bangkok could be affected by the event, as trains on the MRT Blue Line will not stop at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on 16-19 November, while parts of Ratchadaphisek road will be closed off. He ran into the kitchen behind the house and saw a horrific scene. His wife, 77 year old Chalor was in flames. He got some water to put out the fire but it was already too late. Chalor was dead. It is thought that she suffered a seizure while she was preparing the couple's evening meal and fell into the charcoal burner. Picture: Thai Rath Ban Haet police and rescue services were called after a ten wheel truck plowed into the back of an Isuzu pick-up waiting at the lights yesterday late afternoon. It happened at the Sirinthorn Hospital crossroads on the Mitraphap Highway heading towards Nong Khai in Ban Haet district. The driver of the pick-up and his wife suffered only minor injuries. But a family of four travelling in the bed of the pick-up were thrown onto the road along with their possessions. Picture: Thai Rath Dead at the scene were Chokechai, 38, and his wife Saifon, 39. Their children aged 11 and 8 were rushed to Sirinthorn Hospital with critical injuries, reported Thai Rath. The driver of a Hino truck had picked up a load from Khon Kaen and was heading north. He ended up in the central ditch. Thiap Paenoi, 45, the trucker, said he experienced a microsleep. He was drunk, with a 50 mg result. He admitted to drinking a little. Tourism, which accounts for more than 15% of the gross domestic product (GDP), has seen a sharp recovery over the past few months since July 1st reopening of the Thai borders with more than 7 million visitors having step foot in Thailand since the start of this year. In a statement released by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Yuthasak Supasorn, the governor of TAT, came out to say that a total of 7,349,843 visitors entered the borders of Thailand with Malaysian accounting for the biggest market (1,246,242 Malaysian entered Thailand). The rise in the number of tourist has many analyst to come out to state that things are likely to see further improvement. At about 1 am on November 1st in a privately owned car park near an entertainment venue in Chang Pheuak a group of ladyboys and their friends were preparing to go home. One ladyboy with long black hair dressed in black was squatting when he toppled over backwards into a fence. He was electrocuted. It was caught on CCTV. Friends tried to pull him off but could not due to the current. One succeeded by putting a plastic bag on their hands. Picture: Thai Rath Twenty six year old Wichanan was unconscious but a pulse was returned after CPR. He was taken to Maharat hospital but later died. News about the incident was surpressed but emerged on social media sparking a police investigation. The owner of the pub said the car park is not their responsibility. The car park's owner said it was connected to lighting and there had never been a problem before. The long lines that have been circulating on social media outlets about inbound passengers having to wait for a long time and crowds gathered around the immigration counters and into the hallways leading to the immigration, is not a new phenomenon in Thailand and to be fair to everyone, not uncommon around the world. Pictures of how crowded the Suvarnabhumi airport’s immigration counters were when nearly 80 flights landed on Sunday circulated like wildfire to a point where the Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) came out to accept that these were real pictures and not fake news. Parents rushed to the school to warn teachers. It happened less than a month since a man killed dozens of children at a nursery in Nong Bua Lamphu. Teacher Daoprakai Kamphuchart said that she'd been trained what to do in such an emergency. The children were doing preparations for next week's Loy Krathong festival. She locked all doors and led the little ones upstairs to the second floor. There were 50 children there at the time and they were not made aware of any problem.
