When you post your application on line, you can chose the embassy where you want to pick up your visa if you live abroad. If your residence is Thailand, there is only one choices, in Bangkok. Remember visas aren't delivered by Immigration, this will be an exception.

This may not be the case for everyone. I have applied under the WP (which stands for Wealthy Pensioner ????) category. Right from the start I found out that I have to travel to Bangkok to get the Visa stamped into my passport. Where will I have to go for the yearly "90 days report"? What paperwork will I have to show? So, this is quite fuzzy and there is the risk that this beautiful new visa might cost me more time and money than my yearly "Thai Wife" extension, which I get for near nothing and a couple of days work.

Yes, and to add insult to injury, Thailand has some foreigners who set up scam dog charities. I used to call them dog idiots until it became clear that their aim was to justify their extensions of stay, while fleecing the true dog idiots on Internet gave them a fat income. False advertising, as it isn't a 10 years visa. It is merely a "twice 5 years" visa, that requires a full verification the 5 years renewal.
