  1. Before Jan 1st. We'd spend anywhere from 400,000-700,000 THB a month, and then additional 120,000 THB (wife) a month. Since Jan 1st we've moved ALL our insurances overseas (parent companies), we've moved ALL our additional costs where possible (boating costs etc) to their parent companies, all purchasing we do overseas (Amazon etc), basically anything that can be dealt with via a parent/sister company has been routed overseas to those companies, kids education, medical, etc all parent companies overseas. I'd hazard a guess the Gov are loosing roughly 120,000 THB minimum a month from just my credit card VAT payments. That's without all the other costs, even staff are now paid from overseas, we lost a couple, as they didn't want that, they wanted to continue to be paid in cash from my wife (which we paid tax -reported which was 'savings' - but just so we had no issues...). I looked at my credit card the other day, 3,000 THB spent, bank 10,000 THB.
  2. We've done 3m THB in cash, 1m THB in cash in previous years. Both times the seller insisted on cash (first time the woman didn't walk and didn't have accounts - had to be carried into the LO and the cash was counted in her car with the LO officer in presence). Second time Thai guy had debts, wanted cash, was counted in the LO in front of the LO officer.
  3. Yes, but increasingly frowned upon these days. If buying via a corporation better to have a legal/lawyer front the transaction through their accounts. If buying via wife she can pay in cash (less looks/questions).
  4. Thai gov is interested in the tax information they hold.
  5. It was stunning and my bolt hole, alas now it's on the map, it's turning into Lipe. Fortunately Ngai nextdoor is still relatively untouched.
  6. Oh boy.. got one under the old garage (converted to a gym/maid bedroom) got one under the patio (connected to an Annex bedroom) got one under the garage Got one beside a new bedroom If just one goes off i'd imagine we'd have 30mb of damage.
  7. The bit between black and grey. Usually not 'illegal' but 'questionable'.
  8. 150,000$ buys a alternative citizenship by investment Approx - ~ time to buy a second citizenship for the eloped ukrainians. $slavaukraine lol
  9. Weird a lot of times i've seen Thai kids shipped back home with their parents the moment they need education because it's free there... To be fair i have two kids >1 yrs old and they cost something like 1,400 Euro a month in schooling and swimming lessons, then another 1,800 Euro a month for live in nannies. I guess in Europe it's cheaper. Mind i did meet one farang (Austrian) years ago who had two kids 10+ and no schooling, the kids were almost feral.
  10. Yes, but also another unknown fact, Siam (Thailand) was the only non-western affiliated force to occupy Germany post World War 1 ~ they even managed to loose some Thai's during the occupation (mainly to being ill-trained). So Germany has technically been occupied by the Siamese, they liked the Siamese reportedly at the time.
  11. Thailand was never formally colonised.. however... 1) British didn't have to abide by Thai law 2) British took land in the North 3) British took land in the West 4) Thailand (SIAM) had to go through British trade outposts for their exports 5) During WW2 Thailand surrendered to the British after roughly half hour of aerial assault over Bangkok by the RAF. Basically Thailand was allowed to think it had never been conquered (simps) but the reality is much clearer, better to have a buffer instead of dealing with the French (just have a old French neighbour move in next door and see how that works out as a Brit, they have the uncanny ability to cause problems for almost everyone of non French nationality). Fast forward... Yeah in a way but then again - what is Thai? is it Chinese Thai? Indian Thai? Lao Thai? Thailand is ethnically a hot pot of ethnicities in itself *much like india* - there's white Thai's, Chinese Thai's, Yellow Thai's, Brown Thai's, Black Thai's - they are all Thai, but ethnic wise somewhere down the line there was 'breeding' with other(s) from Africa, Middle East, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lous, China, and now the "Dirty" Farang is going pile diving.
  12. I always undertake on the left if that's what you mean - if so it would be her fault. <deleted> hogging the right lane as usual but going 40 lol
  13. In the decade(s) i've been here, the changes they've made have left the place a ghost town during the down season, the 20,000 baht fine and leave when ever was more suitable to the Thai economy IMO. South America still operates on such a system and a lot of expats there don't even have valid passports.
  14. Only issues with these is the Thai Gov actually get a kick back per person.... and the guy at the other end doing all the work makes like 15,000$ a year... Perhaps the Thai Gov should redirect their kick-backs to these people so they can return home... Well discussed in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sY19BRtYuc
  15. Do a criminal case if foreigner ~ inform him before whilst with the lawyers inform his passport will be revoked, he will be held in chains, and his assets will be stripped. (private criminal suit). If Thai get the wife to file a police report and gift 5k.
  16. Of-course it's normal. Termites can eat through a house in no time.
  17. All the hacks in Thailand, and the little script kiddies still haven't got round to wiping IO servers lol.
  18. How old was she, i've read 17, now reading 14/15. If 14/15 what the <deleted> was she doing in the bar in the first place?! 17 is bad enough.
  19. On this i'd have to agree, but lets be honest, the sex scene in Thailand it would be rather hard to determine if she was under 18 in addition i imagine any hotel he visited with her would have asked for her ID, unless it was an adjacent room, then the onus would surely be on the same people that hired her.
  20. I haven't read into the particulars of it. But my interpretation is she was 17 at the time, he was over 17 at the time, if it was consensual then its not illegal in Thailand because she is over 15/16 -> very much like UK law (same reason Prince Andrew was free and clear). So unless it was 'rape' he hasn't committed a crime in either country, except perhaps trafficking... which i doubt could be argued in Germany for paying for sex with a consenting 17 yr old. 15 years Age of ConsentThe age of sexual consent for both boys and girls is 15 years. The Thai Penal Code also provides for close-in age exemption in case a child below 18 has sexual intercourse with another child aged 13-15 years of age with the consent of the latter. 14 Age of ConsentIn Germany the age of sexual consent is 14 (§ 176 Abs. 1 StGB). Over 14 years a consent is impossible in cases of force or fee or the absence mental maturity. Under the age of sexual consent there is an exemption of punishment for cases when the difference of age and mental maturity is small.
  21. Minor is an American term. They want to extradite him, in Germany it's not a crime, in Thailand it's not a crime if its consenting.
