Well I'm not on holiday, I live here and have done so for 10 years, I haven't been out for a beer with my mates for over 7 months, I really would like to sit & have a beer and some banter with guys I've known for years, not a criticism of your post, just an observation.
A bit off topic - sorry - but just wanted to show the irregularities & inconsistencies in LOS. In Kanchanaburi where we live - most bars closed - and just the odd restaurant serving sneaky beer in coffee mugs. Just spent the weekend in Buri Ram - everything open - bars , clubs - my cracking hangover yesterday was a testament to that! Things will change...

I installed this in my roof, for insulation purposes. I have not noticed any difference in sound levels in house.
Most of our neighbourhood sounds come via windows & doors - especially noticeable at present with imminent local elections - and numerous blaring loud-speaker cars.

Unclear whether it was 2500 all up , or 3840. But either way , not too bad if includes xrays. Digital or Film? These machines are expensive to buy - and as the vet is a private business, he has to recoup his outlay somehow.
We charged about 10,000 Baht (equivalent) for xrays in my practice (+ sedation, + consultation etc) - probably explains why I am retired here now!

I have a car purchased new in December 2020. Due to communication issues & the ineptitude of the dealer, I am still running on red plates. I have done 15K in this car around Thailand - and have never been questioned. I have been through many checkpoints and have had no problems.
It has normally taken about 6 to 10 weeks to get the regular plates with other cars we have purchased.
It is interesting reading this thread. I was unaware that I should be recording my trips out of the province - so never have done that. This was not explained to me by the dealer(s). I also drive after 6pm - almost daily - never had a problem.
I know people here are going to say I am lucky - what if I had an accident? etc . I think this is just another case where things are either very flexible here in Thailand , or the policing is lax.

I used to eat a healthy breakfast of fresh fruits - melons, mango, banana with rolled oats & low fat yoghurt.
Now, living permanently in LOS, and not working, things have changed.
We have 1 or 2 meals per day, but seldom eat anything before 2pm.
Sorry. - very long-winded way of saying ‘Nothing’.

Even those with the Sino varieties as part of their portfolio?
Why not? This is part of the vaccination protocol for many Thai people (apologies to Henry123)

Me too, - both parents had dementia and their last 10 years were very difficult for me to deal with... I would not want to inflict that on my family.
Did your parents retain some semblance of their personality? My mom was mostly sweet and my dad was constantly difficult... as they were before D.
I had a veterinary practice in East Gipplsland in Victoria. The practice is still there - I sold out my share.
My Dad started showing signs - sundowners syndrome etc from about 78 , but deteriorated rapidly. He had a minor stroke and was admitted to care, but died shortly afterwards. He was very placid when he had dementia, much easier to deal with than before!
My Mum , deteriorated more slowly , but required high care for her last 5 years. During this period, she did not know who I was, (or who she was for that matter). She was constantly crying, with intermittent bouts of anger. It was bloody awful - and if she was my patient I would have put her down. (Sounds harsh I know - but she had no Quality of Life).
I know many of the early signs to look out for in myself (!) and have instructed my wife to take me for a walk in the forest if I lose the plot!

I have had/am having a fantastic life - and I honestly have no ‘bucket list’.
As my body physically deteriorates , I may enact protocols to speed up proceedings.
Both of my parents died with dementia. I do not want to play that game.
In my working life I euthanised thousands of patients - so I have a more blasé attitude to the sanctity of life.
I am all about Quality Of Life.

I love my wife, our home and family , and the more laidback lifestyle we have here compared with the over-regulated and politically correct environment back in Australia.
There will always be some things that annoy me here in Thailand, however I am very happy here.

Well there's quite few for sale in Bangkok and a neighbour in my Soi who has visits from family their from Bangkok has a CX9.
Not trying to be pedantic , just setting the record straight - Mazda stopped selling CX-9 in LOS many years ago - and replaced it in this market with the updated CX-8 . There are 3 for sale on One2Cars.com now - all 09/10 year models. In this country, Mazdas' bread and butter has been the Mazda2, Mazda3 & BT50 models.

Incidentally, I do not have a new car, I am not in the market for a new car, and I have skin like a Rhino's a**.
The original post about the Fortuner GR was in fact a derogatory post about the car - hardly someone coming on to show off their new pride and joy..
Possibly you share other Rhino characteristics - they have very poor vision.
Maybe you need to get off your high horse.
Get your facts straight before you prejudge & start referring to me as a c...

Yes, when I said I drove it in the US I meant the United States, not upper Sukhumvitt. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm glad you like your new car, and that you come on a thread bagging about other people's new cars shows what a class act you are.
So sorry to hurt your feelings…
Like I said - we are all entitled to our own opinion.
It has nothing to do with class or character

Yeah, me too. I drove a 9 for a few weeks in the US, it was nice enough.
The CX9 is not offered in Thailand. The largest AWD family Mazda here is the CX8, which is more carlike than the CX9.
In my native Australia, the Fortuner is very unpopular. People see it for what it is - a Hilux (= Revo) with a full metal jacket. Toyota sell many more Rav 4s, Klugers & LandCruisers in Oz - much better cars.
In Thailand there is not much choice .

Yeah, I drove a Mazda CX8 and thought it was junk. Looks bad as well.
what a boring world it would be if we all had the same opinions!
drove 300k today back home, through Bangkok - and the Mazda has adequate power ,is fuel efficient(average 14.5km/l) and is quiet and comfortable - IMO it has style and quality that the Toyota does not have.

A 'sporty' Fortuner is a contradiction of terms.
We all know that red cars go faster , and a few more blacked out bits of trim are gangster - but even in 'GR' mode - this car is hardly sporty.
I recently test drove the new Fortuner - and I found the wallowing and dipping around corners quite 'agricultural'. We compared the Toyota with the Ford Everest - and ended up buying a Mazda CX8 !

I have a 5 year Elite Visa. I live in Kanchanaburi - so Thai Elite are useless for me for 90 day reporting. Honestly , the 90 day report takes me between 5 and 10 minutes in the local immigration office.
I have to do the annual extension here myself as well - no big problem - I just needed a letter from Thai Elite, along with all the other bumff required.
Thai Elite say they will help you open bank accounts & get a local drivers licence. I did not need the banking help - and their 'help' in me obtaining a Thai Drivers licence was simply telling me the protocol for getting a license here - so not much help really!!
The Only reason why I got the visa was to return to Thailand a little sooner, as the borders were opened to Thai Elite Visa holders a little earlier than some other visa categories. Now I am here, when my 5 years is up - I will go for either a marriage or retirement visa. It is a matter of weighing up leaving 4-800K baht in a bank account (That in theory I still have access to) or giving away 600K + to Thai Elite... A no-brainer in my book.

Thailand has many squirrel species
http://www.norththailandbirding.com/pages/galleries/mammals_c/th/th_squirrels_01.html
One of our dogs goes crazy whenever we have one near our house.
The tree shrew is normally found in Southern Thailand - so it may be unusual to see one in Thailand, though yours may have been an ‘escapee’ as these guys are sometimes kept as pets by Thais.

I was in Buri Ram last weekend. Many/most bars, clubs & venues operating normally there. Live music , alcohol in glasses (not coffee mugs). I think they are far enough away from Prayuts grasp to not really give a damn..
