  1. More good news for Biden, and bad news for trump. Economists expected an annualized 2% GDP figure to be released 25 January, but it smashed the estimate and came in at 3.3% growth. The US is booming under Biden. That has to make the guy who wants the economy to crash feel terrible.
  2. trumpers have changed the name of 'evidence' to 'alternative facts'. Also, they coined the non sequitur 'truth isn't truth' They've also re-written the famous George Costanza line (Seinfeld): "It's not a lie if the goobers believe it". Cut them some slack, to a person they're, at best, in the remedial class.
  3. Yes, Hugo is kind of like Haley's (sic) Comet (oooh, isn't she the comet coming for trump!). Hugo rises from the dead once every four years and hacks voting machines via an Italian satellite...EXCEPT for down ballot Repubs, who insist their own elections on the very same ballots were 100% legit.
  4. Nikki Haley is finally taking off the gloves. She is calling out trump as a coward, asking why is he afraid to debate her? (Actually, his campaign team likely knows trump is cognitively impaired and would probably make dozens of gaffes in a live debate.) Haley is also raising a lot of money after NH, despite her 2nd place finish, albeit 10 points higher than the pre-election polls suggested. She is now the recipient of big Republican donors like the Koch Brothers, and next week she is hosting fund raising programs on Wall Street. trump already ranted about her fundraising, saying he will blacklist anyone who donates to her. Clearly he is scared. Haley is hitting trump where it hurts 2nd most (his ego), while NYC is hitting him where it hurts most (the Carroll Defamation trial and the penalty for his conviction for bank and insurance fraud). trump is only going to behave even more erratically as an opponent--a WOMAN, at that---is coming after him. It is going to be such fun watching him meltdown like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz.
  5. So anti-American are Repubs now that they purposely stand in the way of funding border security, because---as Moscow Mitch McConnell says---"We don't want to take an election issue away from trump". Neither will Repubs pass any Bill that might help further boost the strong economy, because trump wants a crash so that it will help his campaign. Repubs=Traitors, each and every one.
  6. trump released 5000 Taliban jihadis plus set the timetable for US withdrawal before leaving office. Those released jihadis overthrew what was left of the Afghanistan government and now run the country. It is quite likely7 some of them ordered and carried out the airport bombing during the withdrawal.
  7. You have a naive, childlike, conspiracy theorist view of how US politics works. Biden is a puppet? Of Whom? Silly. Perhaps you've missed it, but under Biden the Dems have gone to work getting the US out of the trump Recession, taking trump's 6.8% unemployment and bringing it close to a 55 year low, presided over more job creation than any POTUS ever, passed a bipartisan infrastructure Bill, dramatically reduced many prescription drug prices, and rebuilt NATO into a powerful force that can stand up to russian aggression. Convicted sex offender, convicted charity fraudster, convicted bank and insurance fraudster, and the clown under 91 felony indictments for such things as stealing classified documents and trying to overthrow US democracy---trump is the antithesis of positive change, which is why Biden loves that trump will be his opponent.
  8. It's clear why Biden wants trump as his opponent. trump is in the process of crashing and burning, all because he is revealing to independents, swing voters, and moderate Republicans what kind of miscreant he is. Exit polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire revealed that a large percent of Haley voters will not vote trump if Haley drops out. Also, trump is showing increasing signs of mental deterioration. In the last two weeks he has: ---said his opponent is Obama ---said Nikki Haley was Speaker on 6 January 2021 ---lied that the Speaker (Haley---sic) had authority to call troops to suppress the terrorist attack on the Capitol ---said Jeb Bush got the US into Iraq ---claims he beat George Bush in an earlier New Hampshire primary ---forgot what State he was in (Iowa) ---said Biden is going to get us into World War II ---babbled incoherently about something he calls "de-banking" trump is still facing 91 felony counts as well as waiting for assessed damages in his second defamation trial and his conviction for bank and insurance fraud. That will not only keep him negatively in the news, it is likely to enrage him and lead to even more untoward and bizarre rants. The issue of abortion is also a major issue, and trump taking credit for overturning Roe v Wade is not going to help him with the majority of women. There are 14 States in the US where abortions are banned even if rape or incest is involved. In just those 14 States since the ban, 54,000 teens and younger have become pregnant via rape or incest. Biden is already citing those figures. (Obviously if a Republican Congressman's wife or daughter was raped, I'm willing to bet an abortion would be had.) Biden also is likely please Nikki Haley is sticking around through Super Tuesday in March, because that will goad trump into being trump. trump already tried Birther 2.0 re Haley, and in his silly 'victory' speech in NH he insinuated there are skeletons in Haley's closet that will come out if she stays in the race. I fully expect trump to be taking about steaks and burgers in his future attacks on Haley. He has shown repeatedly there is no depth too low for him to stoop. All of that, plus the strong economy, strong job growth and record stock prices bode well for Biden.
  9. Very simple. The Founders could have just used the Magna Carta as the guiding document. They did not. Instead---well aware of the power an absolute monarch or authority would have---they specifically and intentionally wrote that all are equal under the law. trump has committed criminal acts. He is already a convicted sex offender, a convicted charity fraudster and a convicted bank and insurance fraudster. He has an additional 91 felony indictments facing him. One---the stolen documents case---is a slam dunk, as he had no right to willfully be in possession of such material. His other indictments, if the indictment documents are anything to go by, are close enough to a slam dunk that he should be getting his affairs in order. Even house arrest would send the wrong signal, as it places him above the average citizen. If a democracy like Suth Korea can jail3 convicted Presidents, certainly the US can, too. He must be tried, and if found guilty (likely if not guaranteed), he must pay the same penalty any citizen would face. He is not above any law and not above any citizen.
  10. Haley says she plans to stay in the race until Super Tuesday in March. I suspect it's payback, as she knows how trump will react. She already "lives rent free in his head", as he did mistake her for Nancy Pelosi. trump will not be able to help himself. He will be his normal racist and misogynist self. He already tried the Birther thing with her. I suspect we're in store for lines like, "I'll bet she never ate a trump steak" (one of his dozens of failed businesses which show his brand isn't worth as much as he thinks). That kind of stuff will play with his Talibangical base and white supremacist losers, but it likely will alienate him even further with moderates and independents.
  11. trump is very popular among the QAnon crowd, Incels, Talibangicals who believe humans and dinosaurs lived on Earth together 6 thousand years ago, racists, misogynists, the poorly educated, and the unsuccessful who cannot accept personal responsibility for their own failures in life. He doesn't poll well with sane people and the intelligent. Granted there are a lot of folks who fall into those categories, but it wasn't enough for him to carry the anachronism of the Electoral College in 2020, never enough for him to carry the popular vote, and the guy hasn't become any more likeable or sane or any less blatantly criminal in the last 4 years. He also is clearly losing whatever Person Man Woman Camera TV cognitive ability he might have had. He forgets what State he is in, thinks Nikki Haley was Speaker of the House on 6 January 2021, and that he is running against Obama. He slurs more words that a drunk expat in a Pattaya bar, and never had much control over his verbiage. The economy is better under Biden, and that will impact things as much as trump's pathological criminality come November. When people head to the voting booth, they will have to consider if they really want a guy with ZERO plan for anything except retribution, a large belly full of empty slogans, a guy who is a pathological liar, and who is already a convicted sex offender, a convicted charity fraudster, a convicted bank and insurance fraudster, and by November could be convicted of everything from violation of RICO statutes to theft of classified documents to aiding and abetting an insurrection against the United States. He may even be in jail come November and be donning a face-matching orange jumpsuit. That's hardly a good look for a political candidate. The Dems want to face him, as he is a walking virus to down ballot candidates. I suspect they also want Haley to stay in the race longer, because trump won't be able to control his racist and misogynistic vitriol against a female, and a female of South Asian ancestry. trump will, as always, demonstrate his worst characteristics and three-year old child behavior as he tries to attack her. Sane, rational, and normal people are sick of his schtick.
  12. Maybe I don't get it, but it seems to me a woman who walks 1000 miles from Guatemala to Texas, dragging her two kids, is slightly less of a threat to US national security than, say, the Cuban Missile Crisis or al Qaeda or Russian ICBMs. I suspect House Republicans agree with me, though they would never admit it. If they truly believed it was the worst national security crisis in US history, they probably would not have slashed the budget for Border Patrol. Somebody else might have said this, but most House Repubs are not legislators, they're just performance artists, putting on a silly show and trying to elicit campaign contributions, so they can keep performing.
  13. Since there are some trump fans here, I wonder if any of them could give excuses account for trump's behavior. Those of us who think trump is a self-serving, evil, ignorant, treasonous clown are told we have something called TDS, but the real TDS seems to me to be an affliction of people who pretzel bend to rationalize his criminality. So, without further adieu... 1) Why did trump call his goobers to come to DC on 6 January, Tweeting "It'll be WILD!"? The certification of the election is pro forma; the States already did the accounting. What is "the right thing" that trump expected VP Pence to do, since the actual "right thing", according to the law and Constitution, is merely to rubber stamp what the 50 States already certified? 2) Why did trump tell his gathered goobers to march to the Capitol? What did he mean by "You have to fight like hell if you want your country back"? What sort of fighting was required when inside the Capitol it was merely that pro forma certification of the election? 3) Why did trump demand GA SecState Raffensperger "just find me...11,780 votes", when Raffensperger told trump there was no evidence of fraud nor unaccounted for votes? The answer here is rather obvious, but I would be interested in hearing the excuse. 4) Why did trump sign on to the fake elector scheme, when actual electors had already been selected by the legitimate voting process? When trump's appointed tech czar told trump "This was the most secure and fair election in US history", why did trump fire him? 5) Why did trump steal highly classified documents (with TS, SCI, SAP, Codeword, HCS and RD classifications) and bring the docs to his country club? What does a wedding planner need with that material? (Note: As a former member of the clandestine services, I carried a TS/SCI clearance and had classification authority. I know the system quite well as well as the declassification process. Neither trump nor any POTUS can "declassify with his mind"; there is a paper trail signed off by relevant agency chiefs and then finally signed off by the White House Counsel. That was not done. Oh...and even POTUSs do not have a security clearance; their election allows them the privilege of seeing classified material while POTUS. Once their term is done, they have zero clearance, and mere possession of classified documents is a crime, especially if it is willful. Biden and Pence's possession of much lower classified material was not willful, and both men cooperated fully with the FBI to gather and remove everything. trump, OTOH, lied and obstructed. As for the docs, HCS is Human Clandestine Sources and rarely, if ever does any POTUS see that, as it reveals identities of clandestine assets. trump's theft of HCS docs puts both individual assets and their families, as well as national security, at risk. It also discourages potential future assets from cooperating, as they see a reckless and cavalier POTUS could cause their identities to be revealed. Finally, documents classified RD, or Restricted Data, can ONLY be declassified by the Dept of Energy, as such material relates to nuclear matters and secrets. The only possible explanation for trump to steal and keep such documents is he planned to monetize them. Certainly putin and Xi would pay well to learn the identities of any penetrations of their government or military. Bonus question: If some 140+ Republican members of the House decided not to sign off on the certification of Biden's landslide victory, why were they all so quick to accept their own victories in the same election on the same ballots? So...what are the excuses?
  14. There is no bigger or fatter snowflake in this world galaxy Universe than Mr UNFAIR! himself. trump lost. Deal with it. TDS is what trumpers have, deluded into thinking the clown is anything but a self-serving, incompetent, anti-democratic, criminal loser. Some of us served the nation in one capacity or another. I served in a certain foreign policy arm of the USG. I have seen what dictators and wannabe fascists do to countries and to citizens of those countries. I do not want that to happen to the US, and trump---even according to many of his former staff and lawyers---is the greatest threat to the US today. Frankly, he should be executed for Sedition for 6 January, for his fake elector scheme, for stealing highly classified documents and then lying about it, and a host of other crimes, some of which are capital offenses. Oh, and people who served are NOT "suckers and losers" as the never served coward trump says. The friends and colleagues I know who lost their lives serving were not either of those, and were better people than trump could ever be even in his wildest fantasies.
  15. "It's 15 people now, and soon it will be down to 1" "It will simply go away, and by Easter (2020) you'll all be together in church again" "You know, we could inject, like, disinfectant into people, and that seems to work"
  16. The facts are patently obvious. trump: had the lowest growth (as measured by GDP change) of any POTUS since WWII. Even before Covid trump's average Quarterly GDP change was in the bottom 30% of all quarters since the end of WWII. trump was the first POTUS since Herbert Hoover to leave office with fewer Americans working than when he entered office. Oh, in an earlier post you claimed 'the economy runs itself'. If you believe that, why do you give trump cre4dit...even for his abject failure. Hey, but you've always got Lysol if the Covid trump so badly mismanaged comes back.
  17. Maybe this is as good as any place to add this: All those House Republicans who refused to certify the election in 2020 might want to step down, as if they actually believe the election was fraudulent, their own victory must have been equally fraudulent.
  18. Covid did not impact the the US until April 2020, 81% into trump's disaster. He was lucky to run on the coattails of Obama and get undeserved credit for his debt-fueled madness. (His additions to the National Debt were double the growth that happened under his watch, which means it wasn't actually organic growth. It's like your neighbor buying a new bassboat, a shiny new Ford F-150, and redoing his kitchen...it looks like he's killing it until the mailman shows up with the bill.
  19. Since there are some trumpers here, you might want to go tell your messiah a few things: 1) The Speaker of the House cannot call the National Guard, but the President who sat on his bloated fatuga for 3 hours watching the terrorist attack on the Capitol on 6 January 2021 could have and should have. 2) Nikki Haley was not the Speaker ever, and certainly not on 6 January 2021. trump seems to be rather confused about both points, as he evidenced in his campaign speech in New Hampshire.
  20. Yes. trump was an absolute disaster for the economy.
  21. Biden has retaken the lead in the polls. It was Bush I who said, "It's the economy, stupid" Growth under Biden dwarfs the trump disaster. Job creation under Biden dwarfs the trump disaster. Consumer confidence is soaring. The stock market is at an all-time high. Manufacturing jobs are coming back. Biden got a bipartisan Infrastructure Bill passed. It's only January, but when folks go into the voting booth in November, trump is going to lose yet again. On the plus side, trump is likely to get an all expenses paid lifetime membership to the Leavenworth "Don't Drop the Soap in the Shower" Club.
  22. Wrong. Not even close. Oh, and trump isn't 235 lbs, either. You've been fooled.
  23. True that^ Republicans are to fiscal conservatism what The Village People are to cops and cowboys. The tax cut under trump was put out as some "job creating" measure, when in really was a transparent attempt to funnel money to the Donor Class. They made a spurious argument about 'overseas profits' being repatriated and then being used to create jobs. That was absolute nonsense. Because interest rates had been virtually zero since the Fed initiated ZIRP in the wake of the Bush Financial Crisis, US companies had gotten all the money they needed at rates far lower than what they would have repatriating any overseas profits and paying even the reduced tax rate on that. When they did repatriate after the tax cut, the funds went to repay the borrowings (US corporate debt hit a record during ZIRP) pay record bonuses to management, and do stock buybacks. trump's claimed 'best economy EVAH!' was typical trumpian hyperbole, as it wasn't even close to reality (kind of like when his doctor said he was 235 lbs). Even before Covid hit his economy registered in the bottom 30% of all Presidential terms since WWII. He was the first President since Herbert Hoover to leave office with fewer Americans employed than when he entered office. GDP change was only half of the amount of new National Debt he ran up, which means there was no organic growth, merely debt-fueled growth---and woefully inefficient debt-fueled growth. His $7,800,000,000,000 increase in National Debt during his tenure was a 40% increase over ALL national debt since the US' founding. It represents $24,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. THAT was the cause of the inflation Biden and the Fed had to address (along with trump's tariffs, which ALWAYS get passed on to the consumer. China no more paid for those tariffs than Mexico paid for the wall trump never built nor funded (even when he had an R House and R Senate). Suffice it to say it's no wonder the guy declared 6 bankruptcies.
  24. That's some thick tin foil there. Unlike trump who played golf hundreds of times in his 4 miserable years, and who cost the US Taxpayer (according to OMB) $176,000,000 just from his golf, Biden has been working. The strong job growth and strong economy---which dwarfs trump---does encourage people to try to migrate, but the Repub House slashing the budget for Border Patrol has prevented the hiring of additional agents. Oh, and rather than trump's "next week is Infrastructure Week", Biden got a bipartisan Infrastructure Bill passed. Biden also got the price of insulin---a mainstay of trump's obese cult---capped at $35/month, rather than the $600 it was when he entered office. (Anecdote) On a trip to the US I've been staying in my condo, which for 95% of the year is vacant. Another unit is renovating. On a recent morning I walked by it on my way to the gym and saw a half dozen Spanish-speaking men performing the work. It was 7am. We had had snow overnight so area schools were closed and many businesses and the Federal Government were closed. Those men---who may be legal but may not be, and certainly were recent arrivals to the US---had braved snow and icy roads and gotten to work early THOSE people are the types who should be in the US, rather than the bloated, overweight, SSDI-types in places like TN, KY, WV who are trump's cult. The top 'employer' in TN and KY is SSDI, and those are RedStates who vote for the guy who hired dozens of undocumented workers for his wedding planner club in FL.
  25. DeSantis is ambitious, so his "endorsement" was likely calculated. He figures trump will either be in jail in November, or else lose again to Biden. A record stock market, low unemployment and solid GDP growth, along with high consumer confidence, bode well for Biden, and will be an influence in November when people finally walk into the voting booth. Polls in January mean little. Certainly this Biden economy dwarfs the disaster trump left behind (Recession, 6.8% unemployment). Having trump be the nominee means nobody from DeSantis/ Party will be an incumbent in 2028. If the Republicans could put up a rational candidate who might win, that would mean DeSantis couldn't run in 2028. Thus, he endorses a loser.
