  1. Maybe this is as good as any place to add this: All those House Republicans who refused to certify the election in 2020 might want to step down, as if they actually believe the election was fraudulent, their own victory must have been equally fraudulent.
  2. Covid did not impact the the US until April 2020, 81% into trump's disaster. He was lucky to run on the coattails of Obama and get undeserved credit for his debt-fueled madness. (His additions to the National Debt were double the growth that happened under his watch, which means it wasn't actually organic growth. It's like your neighbor buying a new bassboat, a shiny new Ford F-150, and redoing his kitchen...it looks like he's killing it until the mailman shows up with the bill.
  3. Since there are some trumpers here, you might want to go tell your messiah a few things: 1) The Speaker of the House cannot call the National Guard, but the President who sat on his bloated fatuga for 3 hours watching the terrorist attack on the Capitol on 6 January 2021 could have and should have. 2) Nikki Haley was not the Speaker ever, and certainly not on 6 January 2021. trump seems to be rather confused about both points, as he evidenced in his campaign speech in New Hampshire.
  4. Yes. trump was an absolute disaster for the economy.
  5. Biden has retaken the lead in the polls. It was Bush I who said, "It's the economy, stupid" Growth under Biden dwarfs the trump disaster. Job creation under Biden dwarfs the trump disaster. Consumer confidence is soaring. The stock market is at an all-time high. Manufacturing jobs are coming back. Biden got a bipartisan Infrastructure Bill passed. It's only January, but when folks go into the voting booth in November, trump is going to lose yet again. On the plus side, trump is likely to get an all expenses paid lifetime membership to the Leavenworth "Don't Drop the Soap in the Shower" Club.
  6. Wrong. Not even close. Oh, and trump isn't 235 lbs, either. You've been fooled.
  7. True that^ Republicans are to fiscal conservatism what The Village People are to cops and cowboys. The tax cut under trump was put out as some "job creating" measure, when in really was a transparent attempt to funnel money to the Donor Class. They made a spurious argument about 'overseas profits' being repatriated and then being used to create jobs. That was absolute nonsense. Because interest rates had been virtually zero since the Fed initiated ZIRP in the wake of the Bush Financial Crisis, US companies had gotten all the money they needed at rates far lower than what they would have repatriating any overseas profits and paying even the reduced tax rate on that. When they did repatriate after the tax cut, the funds went to repay the borrowings (US corporate debt hit a record during ZIRP) pay record bonuses to management, and do stock buybacks. trump's claimed 'best economy EVAH!' was typical trumpian hyperbole, as it wasn't even close to reality (kind of like when his doctor said he was 235 lbs). Even before Covid hit his economy registered in the bottom 30% of all Presidential terms since WWII. He was the first President since Herbert Hoover to leave office with fewer Americans employed than when he entered office. GDP change was only half of the amount of new National Debt he ran up, which means there was no organic growth, merely debt-fueled growth---and woefully inefficient debt-fueled growth. His $7,800,000,000,000 increase in National Debt during his tenure was a 40% increase over ALL national debt since the US' founding. It represents $24,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. THAT was the cause of the inflation Biden and the Fed had to address (along with trump's tariffs, which ALWAYS get passed on to the consumer. China no more paid for those tariffs than Mexico paid for the wall trump never built nor funded (even when he had an R House and R Senate). Suffice it to say it's no wonder the guy declared 6 bankruptcies.
  8. That's some thick tin foil there. Unlike trump who played golf hundreds of times in his 4 miserable years, and who cost the US Taxpayer (according to OMB) $176,000,000 just from his golf, Biden has been working. The strong job growth and strong economy---which dwarfs trump---does encourage people to try to migrate, but the Repub House slashing the budget for Border Patrol has prevented the hiring of additional agents. Oh, and rather than trump's "next week is Infrastructure Week", Biden got a bipartisan Infrastructure Bill passed. Biden also got the price of insulin---a mainstay of trump's obese cult---capped at $35/month, rather than the $600 it was when he entered office. (Anecdote) On a trip to the US I've been staying in my condo, which for 95% of the year is vacant. Another unit is renovating. On a recent morning I walked by it on my way to the gym and saw a half dozen Spanish-speaking men performing the work. It was 7am. We had had snow overnight so area schools were closed and many businesses and the Federal Government were closed. Those men---who may be legal but may not be, and certainly were recent arrivals to the US---had braved snow and icy roads and gotten to work early THOSE people are the types who should be in the US, rather than the bloated, overweight, SSDI-types in places like TN, KY, WV who are trump's cult. The top 'employer' in TN and KY is SSDI, and those are RedStates who vote for the guy who hired dozens of undocumented workers for his wedding planner club in FL.
  9. DeSantis is ambitious, so his "endorsement" was likely calculated. He figures trump will either be in jail in November, or else lose again to Biden. A record stock market, low unemployment and solid GDP growth, along with high consumer confidence, bode well for Biden, and will be an influence in November when people finally walk into the voting booth. Polls in January mean little. Certainly this Biden economy dwarfs the disaster trump left behind (Recession, 6.8% unemployment). Having trump be the nominee means nobody from DeSantis/ Party will be an incumbent in 2028. If the Republicans could put up a rational candidate who might win, that would mean DeSantis couldn't run in 2028. Thus, he endorses a loser.
  10. I think you mean "Alternative Facts", that Republican invention. Remember the Boiling Green Massacre, championed by Kellyanne Cadaver Conway. She got magas to lower the Confederate flags on their F-150s to commemorate it. Oh, and then there's trump lawyer Rudy: "Truth isn't truth".
  11. I've flown in the Falcon 10. It's an old model and quite small. I doubt it's range is any more than 3500km fully loaded. Now if you want to take out the seats and install a giant fuel bladder, maybe you can hit 6000km, but please don't smoke in the left seat!
  12. So then you think former comedian-turned-President Zelenskyy is a Nazi, putin's invasion of Ukraine has the best interest of Ukrainian civilians at heart, and journalist and putin critic Anna Politkovskaya was shot by muggers, not putin's goons? A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
  13. Socks are an option, though there are some fashion faux pas, such as socks with sandals, socks with shorts. Note the photo...both are sockless. Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski, a 6'6" all-time great NFL tight end, models for a maker who eschews socks, making shoes that are quite comfy and breathable. The other is Jim Simons, a famous mathematician and codebreaker, turned successful hedge fund manager worth some $31,000,000,000, who never wears socks.
  14. A few comments... ---The South Seas seem to be beset by two maladies: obesity and maybe echolalia (Pago Pago, Bora Bora, etc.) ---I think Sadie Thompson has long ago left Pago Pago (but in Somerset Maugham's adapted "Rain", one of my favorites, isn't Joan Crawford fetching....no wonder Davidson (Walter Huston), pious as a Thai monk, could not resist her) ---In my university days, I remember reading about an island in the Cook chain called Mangaia. A visiting anthropologist said it is the land of sex (probably putting even Pattaya to shame), that men averaged some 21 encounters a week, and it was custom for the women to bed each and every visitor. Something to consider, as schtupping is as natural as life itself.
  15. trump probably doesn't want to be obese and facing 91 felony charges, either, but the fact is, trump is already the closest thing to Herbert Hoover since....Herbert Hoover. Consider: ---First President to leave office with fewer Americans working than when he entered office since.....Herbert Hoover ---Worst average GDP change over his term since.....Herbert Hoover trump inherited the growing economy created under Obama and left Biden a Recession and 6.8% unemployment, and he achieved that level of abject mediocrity by running up more new National Debt ($7,800,000,000,000) than the total change in GDP; in other words, even his failure was debt-fueled. Maybe Herbert Hoover can finally rest easy, because trump beat him.
  16. Perhaps it has been forgotten, or else trumpers are too embarrassed to mention it again, but part of trump's claim, as detailed by his "crack" legal team, included: ---claims that the dead Hugo Chavez of Venezuela re=programmed Italian satellites which then changed votes on Dominion voting machines in the US ---claims that ballots cast in Arizona contained bamboo, the implication being that China stuffed ballot boxes and was too stupid to get non-bamboo paper Of course the Hugo Chavez claim was never introduced in court, because lawyers who introduce matters they know to be false can be prosecuted. Sidney Powell and others kept that nonsense to pressw conference The "bamboo" issue was checked by Cyber Ninjas, a firm that somehow (because of so many republicans in AZ) was allowed to examine all of the AZ paper ballots. Cyber Ninjas was a brand new firm with zero experience in anything. Still, they concluded that everything in AZ was up to snuff and trump did, indeed, lose the State. When all else failed---including Rudy's presser at Four Seasons (Home and Garden) in PA, in a strip mall next to a store selling porn and 'adult toys'---the fake elector scheme was hatched, with trump's participation, for which he is now indicted.
  17. Is donny losing it? Lots of folks here criticize Biden for his age, but how's this for a "stable genius"? Here is a quote from trump's presser in NH on 15 January post his caucus victory in Iowa: “We did so well, and I think we’re gonna have the same result here,” Trump told his New Hampshire supporters. “I really do. I think we’re gonna [unintelligible]. But we’re also going to place strong protections to stop banks and regulators from trying to de-bank you from your — you know, your political beliefs, what they do. They wanna de-bank you, and we’re going to de-bank.” trump also claimed he was going to beat Obama in the election. Apparently trump thinks it's 2012, since that was the last time Obama was running.
  18. There is no defense. If trump actually believed the election was in doubt (witnesses in front of the grand jury claim he knew he lost, but doesn't like the term "loser"), he may have a right to challenge it. He did that, and lost 59 of 60 cases filed in various courts. What he has zero right to do is pressure the GA SecState to "just find me 11,780 votes". He has no right to appoint fake electors. He has no right to steal classified documents (That case is a true slam dunk.) Only idiots think trump's intent calling his goobers to DC on 6 Jan ("It'll be WILD!") and then telling them to "march to the Capitol" and "You have to fight like hell...you'll never get your country back if you're weak" was anything less than trying to subvert the election certification. THAT is illegal and qualifies as Sedition, though SC Smith hasn't added that charge yet. Smith can, and may. Sedition is a capital offense, carrying the death penalty, which trump absolutely deserves. As for if he 'shot somebody" he would be impeached...not in the 2018-2020 Senate, which had an R majority. Since impeachment begins in the House, there is ZERO chance the current R clownshow in the House would impeach him, so the D Senate now would never have the chance to vote. Note that trump's legal team argued he would have to be impeached first before facing criminal prosecution, even if he had political opponents assassinated. THAT tells sane people what trump wants. trump seeks immunity now because he knows he's guilty and hopes he can avoid jail...or worse. Odds are slim to none. The US is guided not by the Magna Carta, but by the Constitution, where NOBODY is above the law.
  19. Perhaps English is not your first language. If you are speaking of the protests in places like Oregon, you might---if you think about it---find a difference between people who might have looted a pair of Nikes vs folks who wanted to overthrow the US Government, hang the Vice President and kill the Speaker of the House. What would you call what is on the hundreds of videos of terrorists beating police, bear spraying them, smashing windows, chanting "Hang Mike Pence", setting up a gallows on Capitol grounds, <deleted>ting on the floor of the Capitol and wiping their feces on the walls? Souvenir buyers? Typical tourists? It might be a moral challenge for you to develop perspective, but please try. Oh, and not only were some of the terrorists at the Capitol armed (and they have been convicted for it), but trump specifically told security at his Goober Rally on the Mall to not put up metal detectors to check for weapons, "because they aren't here to harm me". I wonder if I had played Kyle Rittenhouse and went to the Capitol to "help police" and gunned down some of the terrorists attacking the Capitol, would you support me the way magas and Talibangicals came to the defense of Rittenhouse even running a Go Fund Me to pay for his legal costs?
  20. Clearly trump is quite concerned about money, as the two trials he attends in person are the bank and insurance fraud trial and the defamation trial. It seems he 'might not' have the money to cover the penalties. In the defamation case, the sky is the limit. Remember that Rudy got hit with $148,000,000 for defaming two volunteer election workers in Georgia. trump is likely to get hit with a much higher figure, because even now he cannot keep his mouth shut. As recently as Wednesday of this week he defamed Ms Carroll yet again, with some locker room-style language while in a public forum, and ostensibly running for President (while in reality he's running solely to stay out of jail). Juries will award based on two things: helping the defamed restore the image the defamer destroyed, and secondly penalties that are aimed at making sure the defamer shuts his mouth. trump, stupidly, is continuing to mouth off while the trial is in session, and the tape of his Wednesday mouthing off was played in court yesterday. If Rudy got $148 million---and the plaintiff's lawyers will make sure the jury knows this---trump is looking at a higher figure. The good news is that cult members who might have missed out on trump's earlier NFTs, or threads of the suit he wore when getting booked for his Georgia felony charges (which he sold to acolytes), there's likely many more NFTs and scissored suits coming to market. Frankly, if donny smeared some of his orange makeup on the suit threads...BOOM! Megabucks!
  21. I do hope one of the trumpers out there gives their messiah a call and reminds him he is running against Joe Biden, and not Barack Obama. Just last night he devoted his speech to trying to get Obama out of the White House, despite President Obama being out of office since 20 January 2017. Sure, Joe and Obama look so much alike, but really, donny! Oh, and he also went off again trying to show off his mental bonafides by boasting of "person man woman camera tv". The guy has completely lost it. As for immunity for Presidents, obviously donny is desperate to stay out of jail. He NEEDS immunity for crimes already committed. At least he's still cognizant enough to know he's a criminal. I've been thinking about this immunity thing and how best to exploit it. For my money, if trump gets his way (He did end one of his "I need immunity" rants by saying "Gawd bless the Supreme Court") and the SC rules immunity exists, I think Biden should immediately send up a couple of F-18s and blow trump's aging Boeing 757 out of the sky. Immunity! SPECTACULAR !
  22. Not accurate. trump inherited the recovery that began after Obama saved the world's financial system from the 2008 debacle (by restoring confidence in the banking system and insurance industry, both of which were days from going belly up). trump now tries to claim the much stronger US growth under Biden is a continuation of what he elft behind, which is silly considering he came in at 4.8% UE and GDP growth, but left Biden 6.8% UE and a Recession. Even before Covid hit, GDP growth under trump was in the bottom 30% since the end of WWII, and the lowest since the end of WWII. AFter trump's mishandling of Covid, it just got worse. As for ISIS, the eradication began under Obama. trump just continued the policies of Obama. As for the Middle East, there are always brief periods of peace. Remember Camp David, the be-all, end-all of ME strife? The ME ALWAYS collapses and always will. trump's 'deregulation' was largely allowing pollution by rolling back EPA standards. If bad air and Flint-Michigan style water is your thing, then trump is your man. He 'deregulated' in ways that allow manufacturers to dump pollutants straight into rivers and streams. trump also ran up new $7,800,000,000,000 in National Debt, which---combined with his tariffs on Chinese imports---were the cause of the inflation he passed on to Biden. Of course, unless you think printing $24,000 for every man, woman and child in the US might not have inflationary implications.
  23. Apparently you do not like economic growth and low unemployment. That's understandable. Many trumpers in the US are on Social Security Disability Insurance, which allows them to sit on their similarly bloated butts at home, watching Jerry Springer re-runs and stuffing their gullets with KFC, chocolate-covered cherries, chips and cookies, adding to their obesity. SSDI is the top 'employer' in many of the States trump won, such as Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. trump inherited a growing economy and 4.8% unemployment, but left Biden a Recession and 6.8% unemployment. Covid is no excuse, because it didn't hit the US until trump's disastrous tenure was 81% done. That 'pot plant' Biden has presided over economic growth that dwarfs your nation as well as other OECD countries and more job creation that ever. (trump was the first US president since Herbert Hoover in 1932 to leave office with fewer Americans employed than when he came to office.) Biden got a bipartisan infrastructure Bill passed and forced drug companies to lower the cost of insulin (which fat trumpers need) from $600 per month to $35 per month. Biden has also continued to bolster Obamacare (which trump was to destroy, despite having zero healthcare plan). So popular is Obamacare that an additional 20 million Americans signed up in 2023 alone. Pretty damn good for a "pot plant", especially when compared to the failure that was/is trump.
  24. The trump cult members have absolutely no clue nor ability to understand the negative international ramifications of a trump 2.0. Intel cooperation, international security, etc., go by the wayside because the rest of the civilized world knows trump is a clown and a fool, and has zero understanding of the world. Other nations will cease cooperating with the US. trump cultists, losers that they are, just live vicariously through the bloated a$$ dictator wannabe, thinking it makes up for all their lifelong pain being mediocre and unsuccessful. They only see their own loser pain, and cannot understand the mayhem trump's abject idiocy will cause. The think tank run by Ian Bremmer puts the greatest threat to world security and the international economy as trump 2.0. It is likely foreign direct investment in the US will cease, and even US companies will consider moving their operations to Mexico and Canada, as those governments would be more stable and run by less capricious fools like trump. Also, as 30% of the US deficit is funded by foreigners, and trump has a tendency toward fiscal profligacy (he ran up a 41% increase on total US debt built up since the 18th Century...trump's deficit in just 4 years was $7,800,000,000,000, or the equivalent of $24,000 for every man, woman and child in the US, or $1000 for every human on Earth...INFLATIONARY !) rates will likely soar. We could see 10% interest rates again. Perhaps it's fitting that rank and file labor, which are trump's bread and butter and KFC buckets, will suffer as jobs are sent to Mexico and Canada. Also, trump claims he's going to get rid of Obamacare, which is his base's healthcare, and which added 20 million new members just in 2023.
  25. My hope is that if that happens, and international cooperation evaporates, along with intel sharing, only trumpers get eradicated by terrorists or putin-style aggression. That would MWGA Make the World Great Again!
