  1. I agree. There was excitement around the house music scene in the 2000s. So many talented djs both working locally and passing through.
  2. And a Mexican place on or near Khao San, I never went. Now you mention it remember bash. Guy was busy for someone off his tits every night
  3. I'm telling you, he opened a burlesque/cabaret show in what is now Hillary on that corner. I actually met him there while he was building it and went to the opening. As I said, slutty dancing nuns. I did not know sugar was his doing as well.
  4. It did burlesque/cabaret dance numbers it was mad. I remember slutty nuns. can't remember the name tho. After that it became Marshmallow, now Hillary
  5. Just stop with the stupid envelope <deleted>, come up with something original to say.
  6. Jesus, Lucifer forgot that. Kings Lounge and Kings Corner and Hollywood mean nothing to me. Funky Dojo fronted onto one of the cross streets between main Patpong sois, it was another of Daryls ventures I believe. It was great to listen to excellent house and people watch.
  7. I believe it was on the roof. Of course it was, but the school on the university grounds just the other side of the wall sealed the deal.
  8. i loved daryl. in the run up to mystique on Buddhist no booze holidays he had these massive parties in I's penthouse, first to take all of our photos and then give us our mystique VIP cards, Shame they built it on the other side of the wall less than the requisite 500 meters (or whatever) from the university's demonstration primary school,.
  9. neigh huh, are they riding ponies?
  10. Jesus, there used to be Swing on Petburi somewhere, then Bossy, Spicy. Back in the day Sin on Nana, a <deleted> ton of place in the building at the mouth of Soi 1. I remember a cop gave me his gun in some place on Petburi at about 4 am. Drugs were involved Back early early days (96ish) there was Silom Soi 4 with Deeper, (later DP 2000) the first real techno club in town, closed due to overdose and the space never reopened. Tapas was also on SoI 4. Then later on there was funky dojo on Patpong. I have forgotten way more than I remember I suspect.
  11. Do you keep money in the bank and withdraw from an ATM? They already have the potential to control your cash and movement, unless you have a chunk of change under the bed.
  12. agreed, Bed was good for that too. I remember Laurent Garnier playing the club side then doing a late night after hours in the other.
  13. it started as a New york lounge style bar. The opening went off so hard they immediately upgraded the sound system and didn't look back. I was neighbors with a bunch of the staff a block away, and knew all the local DJs so it wasn't expensive at all. Also they booked in some very very good international DJs.
  14. More often i left with Thermae Chicken in a Basket. Fok did that hit the spot.
  15. ah current thermae you went down the stairs but came up the stairs at the back through nd outdoor kitchen breezeway area to get to the toilets
  16. It wasnt as far into the soi as the president park, it was much nearer the mouth. Drugs a plenty, you are correct.
  17. I have had a place on 11 for around 25 years, don't recall anything of note ever happening late night at the Federal beyond great food. The Grace Coffee shop, however, was madness a mix of arab, thai and farang, all up to no good. Bowling at the Grace was a great way to get a few beers in before looking for trouble.
  18. It was called Soho. On the ambassador side of the street maybe 200 meters up the soi. kind of where the fx booths and Cannabis Club are now. Played mostly hip hop. Used to drive David from Q bar absolutely crazy that the cops would close Q bar and everyone would move down the street. amusing rants ensued.
  19. im not sure the problem is your neighbor's mate, this is obsessive.
  20. in singles it will certainly get you attention at the "gentlemans club"
  21. this is shameful, no pretence at hiring based on merit, blatant exclusion labelled as inclusivity, Seriously, <deleted> you Canada, "Two spirit" indeed. What place does that have at work? "The position is only open to people who self-identify as a member of a racialized minority." what the fok does that even mean? As a white male if I claim to be Chinese or black, do I qualify? it seems I must.
  22. they were a whole scene back in the day (2000-2010++) we called them the plastic chairs, and occupied them on too many occasions watching folks head to work. those were the days when you got lucky if you went home alone. The queen of the plastic chairs, Khun Toi (Toy?) -- she could be seen cooking in rubber boots every night around soi 11/1 - Soi13 -- is the person who sublet the land the now gone "illegal bars" occupied over COVID. It was her restaurant at the end. She moved to the building in front of the ambassador that used to be au bon pain.
  23. Sure you mean the old thermae? sounds a lot like current one to me.
  24. unless you were careless and didnt monitor the lady drinks finding their way onto your bill.
