  1. Just this morning on the way to work some idiot in a pickup in Laem Chabang almost knocked two older persons off a motorcycle because he was to impatient to wait and tried to jump the lights. Really dangerous and irresponsible behaviour by the pickup driver.
  2. They've blown their budget on Teslas and BMW smart cars for picking up illegal immigrants.
  3. Agreed. I have several pairs of Levi's purchased at Terminal 21 Pattaya and they are a quality above the other locally manufactured denim such as Wrangler, Lee, MC etc. imo. I am not paying silly money for Boss or Calvin Klein's here. I think they were about 1,000thb per pair but had a buy one get one sale on when last I was there. Lighter denim and suitable for the climate here.
  4. Not wearing seatbelts is Thai fatalism at its best. However that attitude could easily be changed if proper education and enactment/enforcement of seatbelt laws were applied. Don't hold your breath though. Is wearing a seatbelt in the back of a vehicle law in Thailand? I know it is in Singapore and elsewhere.
  5. She was deposed in a coup, in itself an unlawful act or treason. ????
  6. No I don't remember that but that's a quality bit of whataboutery. Thanks for taking the time to research. 7/10
  7. They have never been taught braking distances, and are not interested or curious to find out, so no, they don't. Exactly the same with right of way, giving way to oncoming vehicles, lane splitting on motorcycles etc, etc.
  8. Another modified agricultural utility vehicle involved. Needless to say my bias against these idiots will take over so I will refrain from further comment. RIP the young woman.
  9. Yes you are correct I did not read the article properly. A better description would have been ironic, seeing as she died after fleeing a Police checkpoint probably for her own benefit.
  10. I'm Scottish by birth but of Equadorian-Cameroonian descent.
  11. Every day, yet another comical and almost unbelievable incident involving motor vehicles.
  12. Tourist Police are no different from other branches of RTP including Immigration and Traffic police. You are confusing them with Police volunteers who do not have those powers, but wish on their limp noodles that they did.
  13. Those votes ain't gonna buy themselves. And... But, but... Thaksin. ????
  14. Indian guys still do the rounds in Soi Cowboy and Nana to collect loan payments.
  15. Now it is Chinese gangs but it used to be Brits, Yanks and Aussies working out of Bangkok and scamming vulnerable pensioners in 'boiler room' scams for many years in the 90's and 00's. A lot of well known bars and bar complexes were built on stolen pensioners' money and ran by former boiler room criminals. Many of whom are still living in Thailand and have Police connections, hence very few caught and properly punished even when Western authorities got involved. When I first arrived here they were prominently located in offices on Sukhumvit and Silom areas, and could be easily identified in bars around lower/mid Sukhumvit in particular. Some of them have stuck around as 'financial advisors'.
  16. Pink ID card is usually worthless and doesn't guarantee Thai prices. A Thai driver's license is arguably better.
  17. That's actual proper Police work, totally beyond the ability of these clowns.
