  1. Limits and checks certainly, but this is Thailand where they are too inept and corrupt to manage.
  2. Shouldn't they shut down and arrest the agents? Much more effective than arresting their customers.
  3. You are just guessing as to why and what happened now to try and win this argument on the Internet. Big Joke's Dad was a mate of Prawit so that's all that really needs to be said.
  4. They all are, but he was the guy who pulled the strings for higher echelon promotions.
  5. He was the go to guy for promotions in the Thai Police with Prawit and other powerful figures backing him. Why do you think he was suddenly removed from his role? His wings were deliberately clipped because he was getting too powerful.
  6. Not yet but it will put them off that is the point.
  7. No I have it right I have Police mates that know him.
  8. Always is. Now reporting of these incidents is more common.
  9. Normally they make it up as they go along or don't even know the rules themselves. Of course the rules are never obeyed by the locals so you see the irony in telling visitors that they must strictly obey.
  10. Lol Big Joke whos car was shot at because of his involvement in elephant tickets for Police promotions. That Big Joke?
  11. Another point that some posters have touched on is that the image and reputation of the country is tarnished when you have Police raiding tourist venues, checkpoints, roadblocks etc. It scares people and puts people off coming. It all looks very 'Third-world, Banana Republic, Police State, or dare I say it, Dictatorship' to anyone looking in. They don't have the tact or common sense to know any better unfortunately.
  12. Of course it is ridiculous. Especially when they have cars patrolling with facial recognition technology etc. The entire 90-day reporting was only enforced as more nationalistic govts came to power in the early 00's, and was kept in place because they are, as you quite rightly state, unable to change. The entire visa system needs overhauled but there is not the will nor the ability to do so unfortunately, so we are where we are.
  13. A very long winded way of saying if you don't like it leave. A simplistic, sort-sighted and sycophantic comment, surely you can do better?
  14. Everything that is wrong with this country is right here in this story.
  15. He's been spotted at several F1 races, there are many photos of him at various races round the World. He was also proven to be living openly in Bangkok and in and out of the country up until 2017 when they said they couldn't locate him since 2012. Don't be a mug and don't believe a word they say mate.
  16. Och, wheesht laddie. Mugged in Chicago? Are you off your meds?
  17. Correct. Try to do the right thing, be good at your job, do extra, etc. and the corrupt inadequates will single you out for a fall. Horrible, slimy little creatures.
  18. Never, ever trust any of them. Has served me well in 30 odd years here and keeps me from being surprised and prepares me for when they inevitably try to do me over.
  19. To get them off the street we should all chip in to get them a modified motor-scooter so they can start street racing with the rest of the kids at their age group.
  20. Don't be shocked, this stuff is common in Pattaya and its environs. When I lived in Bangkok in the 2000's I saw a student get stabbed by a gang of other students in Panthip Plaza in the mid-afternoon. Blood everywhere, dozens of tourists shocked watching from the pedestrian bridge. One American woman even threw up as the guy was lying there bleeding out until a tuk-tuk took him away.
  21. Interesting that Thais would choose to visit the country that finally colonised them in the '40's, despite apparently Thais being so proud of never being colonised. One thing Japan does very well, is keeping their citizens completely ignorant of their real history, including that of the Second World War, a trait that is evidently shared by the Thai education system.
  22. This is the very definition of Thainess.
  23. These stories should serve as warnings to all visitors as to what this place is really like.
