Any fool knows motorbike insurance is not normally included in travel insurance and you need to buy a separate policy covering riding bikes or driving cars etc. Indeed mandatory minimum vehicular insurance is a legal requirement in Thailand and elsewhere.

All the big banks and insurance companies offer motorcycle insurance. I have it for both the big bikes I ride occasionally.

I socialise in many different circles, from my lowest paid workers that earn 12,000thb a month to govt. officials and even a couple of Thai billionaires on occasion. Seems to be common among all social strata.

You think Thailand is bad? I was on a job offshore Cyprus and we were put in a hotel full of Russians the night before flying out to the rig. Those were proper Russian package tourists, and thousands of them, not the more foolhardy types that make it as far as Thailand!
