Some cultures are a lot more primitive than others. That's not racism, that is simple, actual fact.

It is sad, but Thailand is still very much a Third-world country in mentality. The infrastructure may have developed but the education system, political system, the culture, their beliefs, and the mentality stay firmly rooted in centuries past.

It is usually up to a single judge in cases like this to reach a verdict. Your post goes way beyond criticising a court decision, into allegations of bribery and corruption. None of which you have any evidence of.

Dunno about that. Cambodia has recently implemented an online arrival card system and app, and it seems to work pretty well. Mind you they are already 15 years ahead of Thailand when it comes to e-visas.

They will have more information on when and where you plan to enter/exit the country. After you register, you are already on the electronic database so no need to stand at a desk and see an actual person. Passport scan, facial recognition and fingerprint scan will happen at the automated gate as usual.

I see this is a positive if we don't have to go to a desk and see an actual person on arrival. Singapore and Malaysia are now so easy to go in and out of using the automated gates. I have been using the auto gates to leave Suvarnabhumi recently though, which made things a lot easier. However, this does also mean that long-term tourists without proper visas may be able to come in and out on ETAs as much as they like, without human intervention. They could of course electronically limit the amount of ETAs per year…

You could add that no member of the Thaksin family have ever completed a full term in jail as well. 😆

A sensible, balanced and just verdict from the Thai court. Well done to the judge for not letting the media circus surrounding this case pressure the court into an unjust decision. Even more welcome as it will rile up the clowns on here that thought he should be hung, drawn and quartered for his alleged crimes.

It was a case of better the devil you know. Doing a deal with Thaksin was infinitely preferable than having Move Forward in power. Move Forward would have begun to dismantle the patronage network. Just look at the cabinet MPs for this new Paetongtarn government, it is the same old cronies, same old names and faces. Even the Dems have joined up with their lifelong enemies. They are running scared.

I believe a Chinese mob has bought Climax and immediately went about getting the vendors removed from their pitch. No food stalls means one more reason not to visit LK Metro. Don't think I have ever been in Climax and doubt I will now either.

He was in and out of Thailand up until 2017, so he could still have a valid Thai passport. His family is so rich, probably has a St. Kitts & Nevis or a Montenegrin passport like the current PM Takky Shinegra. They can be purchased for a few bob.
