Turns out it wasn't ketamine in the end, it was Trisodium Phosphate for the cleaning and food industry.

That's because it got challenged in court in Samui and they ruled it was illegal.

May be true but a friend with a company and work permit got a warning as only Thai can drive professionally. (he was alone in the van)
My info is 100% correct mate.
Police are completely clueless when it comes to the actual laws.
If you work for that company it entitles you to drive a company vehicle, end of story.

Driving your own car with your company advertising and it is illegal for you as a foreigner to drive it.
Only if you do not have a work permit. If you have a work permit in any capacity with that company it is ok.

Or.........we should treat all Thai the same once they leave their country. No house, no property no car no phone no job no insurance. Confiscate all Thai property and companies in the west and lets see how they react ???? To many stupid anti foreigner rules over here and it is not getting better.
Our governments and authorities don't have the minerals to implement reciprocal laws.
Totally spineless and inept.
The Thais are laughing! Well off Thais can do pretty much anything they want in Britain.

Put the army back in the barracks and call a fresh election, one where no present or past army officers are permitted to run for office, then maybe this country can get back on track to democracy
An election won't solve anything as the demands of the students won't be met.

12 hours ago, ThailandRyan said:Your confused she was not in power. The Airport incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday 25 November 2008, when the PAD executed what they called "Operation Hiroshima." A convoy of hundreds of armed PAD members dressed in yellow blocked the two ends of the road in front of the terminal building of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok's main airport and an important regional hub.Thaksin was a Thai Rak Thai party member and was a red shirt just like his sister. They never supported yellow. Get your facts straight.
The poster is referring to a different person at the top of the ladder, whom attended the funeral of a deceased Yellow Shirt, thus inferring support for that group.

Some companies actually care for their staff even we are capitalists we are still human.
Probably more to do with the fact that there are laws that mandate minimum employee compensation, that are dependent on salary and time served when a person is made redundant in Thailand, and employees have a prompt and robust system to challenge any unfair dismissals or inadequate or missing compensation payments through the courts, and they usually win.

“We said goodbye to our last international customer at the beginning of April and since then, we have had almost no income… The new Special Tourists Visa was and is completely useless, the new 60-day visa will only help to a very limited extent. As long as there is still a quarantine and a lot of bureaucracy to be done, the tourists will not return.”
Spot on.
This will be only the start of the lay offs and many won’t be temporary.
Exacerbated by political unrest which will no doubt continue or worsen, a global recession or depression, fear of air travel, being locked away for weeks in a hospital if you test positive on arrival in Thailand, ridiculous new visa requirements, etc...
It's all over, Red Rover.

Not really legal , they planned a crackdown on this a long time ago already , but never did ...
Not exactly a loophole, it is 100% illegal according to the land ownership laws. It is almost completely ignored, not sure about tolerated, as the majority don't know it happens.
Wait until some pee'd off hi-so starts making a fuss about it then we'll see how tolerated it is once the majority knows loads of foreigners own land through nominee shareholding companies.
Cue the tears and snotters from the expats that sail close to the wind when they do eventually do something about it.

We just had to submit ownership documents for one of my companies (non-BOI) to the DSI and I had to attend an interview. We are completely legal.
During the interview they asked at length about foreign ownership and whether our Thai shareholders were proxies. They are not as they are active members of the board and two of them work for the company.

16 hours ago, outsider said:From crying about not wanting to be PM then, to doing everything to hog the position now. What a liar.
Obvious from the very beginning that the coup was nothing to do with either corruption or compromise.
As alluded to earlier it has been a simple yet collosal theft of wealth and a blatant power grab, painting freely elected governments as the enemy to legitimise military rule.
You can see it was well planned in advance and supported by certain persons in the highest echelons in Thai society, while cheered for by dupes.
Now it will only get messy as they have dug in under the skin and refuse to let go.

Just now, Andycoops said:Several people were treated in hospital for gunshot wounds.
But of course there is no investigation concerning that, only the pursuit of students trying to rid themselves from the military cretins.
According to Khaosod, Police arrested a Yellow Shirt with a handgun and he has been charged.

Nobody lifted a finger when the Yellow Shirts took over the sirports, Government House and almost caused a war with Cambodia over Preah Vihear.
A few students come out and they deploy the tear gas and water cannons almost immediately.

I know at least two Westerners employed by large Thai companies in cybersecurity.
One works for a Thai Bank as Head of cybersecurity.

For those who remember, this was the site of Cheap Charlies and a heap of other bars and restaurants that used to be packed every night, all bulldozed down in the name of what ? Just left, same as soi 7, New wave bar and the great restaurant next door to it along with a whole street of tourist pulling bars...... All destroyed for what ? And they talk about tourism ....... Time for a change......
It's been happening for the 30 years I have been here yet the numbers keep increasing. Chuwit bulldozing Soi 10 bars, Clinton Plaza, Queen's Park Plaza, etc...
It's turning into a no-fun zone but the demographic has changed and the locals don't care because the money keeps rolling in.

the hotel even during COVID times is still getting customers, the vast majority of whom are leaving excellent reviews
Wesley Barnes on the other hand has been forced to leave Thailand against his wishes.... almost certainly the Thai authorities will have put a mark on his passport, so his future travel around south east Asia will be problematic
Why would travel around South East Asia be problematic?
He might have issues in Thailand, but nowhere else.

They will all have to be compensated by their employers which will result in loads of companies going bust.
The courts will be busy though.
