  1. Opening up for tourism... what will that achieve exactly? There would be most assuredly a second wave that would damage other industries and completely destroy other businesses that do not rely on overseas tourism!

Nobody in Thailand wants another lockdown. We've done that already and the virus is under control inside the country.

Thailand is not opening the borders for mass tourism for the foreseeable future until there is a vaccine or the virus disappears.

    Deal with it!

No problem, they'll just drive without a licence.

And if you've got no license, no need to pay for tax and insurance either.

@JoePai 5 year renewals were introduced about 15 years back, but only for new applicants.

If you're a Thai older than 40, you probably have a lifetime license.

I have a car and a bike permanent licence obtained in 1993.

Plea to Thai PM to open borders

    By Don Ross - August 7, 2020

BANGKOK, 7 August 2020: A well-known journalist and public relations consultant, Ken Scott, released a video this week presenting an impassioned plea to Thailand’s Prime Minister to reopen the country’s borders to tourism.

In the Youtube video Scott, who resides in Glasgow Scotland, launches into a three and half minute plea saying Thai tourism is dying and that the Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, is “unintentionally punishing Thai people” due to the strict restrictions on tourism.

As the founder and managing director of ScottAsia Communications, he presents five critical proposals for the PM to consider.

    He resides in Glasgow?

Maybe he should be worrying about the state of affairs back there and telling the Scottish parliament or Westminster what they should be doing instead?

Looks like they need the help far more than Thailand does.

Just another person that is bitter about being locked out of this country at the moment and probably can't get his Nat King.

    Chok dee!

  4. The important thing for them is not to get caught lying, and just keep making up nonsense and more lies to obfuscate further and further.

I've said it a million times before and I will say it a million times again, you cannot trust anyone here especially when it comes to money. This is a nation that willingly sells their daughters into sex-slavery.

Totally different morality from us in the West, some would call it immoral, and as usual the Police, the largest criminal gang in the country, are right in the middle of it.

transferring gunshot residue from the perpetrator’s hand to the victim after the fact and have it match what it would look like if the victim had committed suicide is probably extremely difficult/next to impossible without being detected because it most likely leaves a certain pattern/consistency behind which most likely can’t be replicated by transferral.

Secondly, of course you have to take everything into consideration which they most likely did when they did the autopsy. The road rash/abrasions and all the other injuries he sustained in the crash will paint a picture consistent with the motorcycle crash seen in the CCTV footage.

You are basing your judgement on forensic science but this is Thailand.

15 to 20 years ago Thailand only had a single forensic scientist in the whole country and she was an ardent supporter of the fake GT-200 bomb scanners.

I would say that the Chinese are the last people that should be allowed in to Thailand, but they do need to do something fast about letting other tourists in for the sake of peoples jobs and the economy.

Much worse would be letting in a second wave of the virus which would cause panic and potentially devastating impact on other, as yet relatively unaffected industries.

The overseas tourism industry is dead for the foreseeable, we just have to accept that.

Anyone with a long term visa (O or OA) should be able to present it and be charged Thai prices.

Disagree. Only taxpayers should get local rates.

Temporary visitors here for purposes other than tourism pay the tourist rate.

My reason: they don't contribute taxes that pay for the upkeep and staff manning the facilities.

I'd love to discover more of Thailand by traveling about to help increase domestic travel; however to facilitate that, I need a couple of changes to be made; 1) An end to the 2 tier pricing scheme in Thailand's public tourist venues & hotels!  2) An end to the ridiculous 90 day process & TM-30 process!  (Why not instead just put a chip in our passports or cellphones when we arrive so you can track our where abouts all day long?)  3) I need to see a 50% drop in the beer & wine prices! I refuse to pay 300 baht anymore for a bottle of <deleted> wine that I used to purchase for less 150 baht!  I believe Thailand may currently have the most expensive beer & wine prices in the entire world!  Let me know when you have resolved the above 3 items, & in the meantime I'll have my bags all packed & ready, & Good to Go!

Beer is still fairly cheap in Thailand. I pay 65thb ($2) for a big Chang in my local and it is served (and topped up) by a pretty.

Wine is a rip off. I've always wondered why people bother drinking it here?

Thailand is not a wine friendly nation unfortunately, but it has always been that way since I can remember.

    That's different to my recollection.

They tried to blame the guesthouse owner (French?), and tried to get a migrant worker to masturbate while under police custody, but besides the beatings he wouldn't do it, iirc.

The barstool experts cry Tony. But they know everything about everything, don't they. :coffee1:

Yeh, the semen they found on the Sarong that was used to strangle her...

"They arrested Andrew Gill, the British owner of the guest house, and charged him with conspiracy to rape and murder with a person unknown. The 33-year-old had not called police immediately after the discovery of Kirsty’s body because, he later admitted, he was worried about being arrested as his visa had run out. But Mr Gill was later released after the State Attorney decided that there was insufficient evidence to proceed to trial. Crucially, there was no DNA to link him to the scene of the crime and he is now back in Britain"

Welsh Police had the DNA from the Sarong and it was given to Thai Police but no arrest was ever made.

First I think Thailand should let in the people on O-A visas, who are long stay and not tourists.  O-A Retirees can pay for tests and quarantine and have close ties to people and loved ones in Thailand.  Some of us got stuck outside and are trying to get back.  Tourists can come later.

They don't want older high risk people here at the moment.

Also, there are long queues of people, including Thai nationals, waiting to get back in already.
