Not all. I am an example where I have worked in multiple countries around the world on international type contracts where taxes in those countries were handled by agents, not usually shown to me, and my only TIN available is from Thailand where I had to go and ask for one to show my overseas banks as ID.
-
To keep or open any new bank or brokerage account outside Thailand needs a TIN these days. Many expats in Thailand have only a Thai TIN available to them if they don't have one in another country. Other than that little has changed has it, besides a social media frenzy, and expats have not been approached by Thai authorities about any changes because until now there are not any?

BBC Good and Trustworthy News Source

How would you consider AP, Reuters, NPR or Deutsche Welle as alternatives to an objective news reporting channel? To many on AN if its not extreme right viewpoints its not objective:-) -
Amnesty International "It's a Genocide in Gaza"
Hamus Yaigh replied to SomNaNa555's topic in The War in Israel
The idea that Israel's alleged war crimes and genocide are acceptable because Hamas allegedly committed similar atrocities is a logical fallacy. Just because one party has committed wrongdoing does not justify the other party doing the same. This viewpoint also fails to distinguish between the actions of Hamas, a militant group, and the Palestinian people as a whole. The collective punishment of an entire population is a violation of international law and is morally reprehensible. Justifying Israel's actions in this way only serves to perpetuate the cycle of violence and further entrench the animosity between Israelis and Palestinians, making a peaceful resolution to the conflict even more difficult to achieve. Israel could have used force in a way that was proportional to the threat posed by Hamas, targeting only those directly involved in the attack and taking all feasible precautions to minimize harm to civilians. Ultimately the long history of violence and mistrust between Israel and Hamas may have contributed to a mindset in which each side feels justified in using excessive force against the other. -
Amnesty International "It's a Genocide in Gaza"
Hamus Yaigh replied to SomNaNa555's topic in The War in Israel
You've not read the report you've just posted have you. Now go back and read it and look at the witnesses they interviewed in Gaza, the Palestinians making claims.... That's horse manure and selective vision. Better read the report yourself before casting aspersions eh? "Amnesty International’s research report is based on interviews with more than 200 people, including Palestinian victims and witnesses, local authorities in Gaza, healthcare workers, extensive fieldwork, analysis of extensive visual and digital evidence, including satellite imagery, and analysis of statements by senior Israeli government and military officials, and official Israeli bodies." -
Fronting Hate: Tennessee's Troubling White-Supremacist Gathering
Hamus Yaigh replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It's important to keep in mind that these "privileges" are often intended to address systemic issues that have persisted for generations and are not simply a matter of individual choice or merit. The legacy of slavery and segregation in the United States has resulted in significant disparities in wealth, education, and health outcomes between Black and White Americans, which cannot be easily resolved without targeted interventions. One could argue that the goal should be to create a society where such targeted "privileges" are no longer necessary, but that achieving this goal will require sustained efforts to dismantle systemic racism and ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to succeed. -
Dipped below 800k for money in bank method
Hamus Yaigh replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You don't say if you have another Thai bank account in your name with 2K in it? I thought the 800K for immigration purposes could be held in any number of accounts on a given day?- 143 replies

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
Hamus Yaigh replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Tariffs have been used by many U.S. presidents in the past, often with mixed or negative results. Here are a few examples: Note the key words "limited impact", "historians argue that they contributed to the Great Depression" and "unintended consequences, including higher prices for consumers and retaliation". You reap what you sow. 1. In 2009, President Obama imposed a 35% tariff on tires imported from China, in response to concerns from the United Steelworkers Union about job losses in the domestic tire industry. The tariffs were intended to protect American jobs and boost domestic production, but some studies suggest they may have had limited impact. 2. In the early 20th century, the U.S. imposed a series of tariffs to protect domestic industries and generate revenue. These included the Fordney-McCumber Tariff of 1922, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff of 1930, and the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act of 1934. These tariffs had varying impacts on the U.S. economy, and some historians argue that they contributed to the Great Depression. 3. In the 1980s, President Reagan imposed tariffs on Japanese motorcycles and semiconductors, in an effort to protect American industries and reduce the trade deficit. However, these tariffs also had unintended consequences, including higher prices for consumers and retaliation from Japan. -
Spineless cowards. "spineless coward" implies that Putin is in the right and that young Russians should be fighting for his cause is indeed deeply problematic and wrong. You agree with that do you? It's important to acknowledge that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is widely condemned by the international community, and is causing immense suffering and loss of life. Supporting Putin's war is not only morally wrong, but also perpetuates a dangerous and harmful ideology of aggression and expansionism. The idea that young Russians should be fighting for Putin's cause is particularly disturbing, as it implies that they should be willing to sacrifice their own lives and well-being for a leader and a cause that are fundamentally unjust and harmful.
-
All Russians on the planet have a collective responsibility to prevent their government from becoming oppressive or authoritarian. By not speaking out or taking action against a government that uses fear and intimidation to control its citizens, people may be inadvertently contributing to the perpetuation of that system.

No you didn't. Like any of today's GOP supports, its all about divide and conquer, nothing to do with placating the opposition.

Hugely disrespectful of the Ukrainian nation, such distasteful characterization of a war started by Pootin that has caused so much death and destruction to Ukraine's own peoples.

Official: Trump Nominates RFK Jr. for Health Secretary
Hamus Yaigh replied to Social Media's topic in World News
One doesn't need to be a democrat sycophant, just plain common sense to know that having RFK Jr., a conspiracy theorist, is a bad choice. He has made controversial statements about vaccines, suggesting a link between vaccines and autism, despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary. -

Try not to be so condescending in your replies, with the "Oh, please pay attention"s. Whether or not the S&P is overpriced or not (at the moment) does not matter a jot. Back-test any period of time in recent history over your lifetime and the returns are always better in the stock market and more capital efficient than fix term deposits.
