How lucky you are ... my GP in the UK needed to see me every year before he would renew my script.
Mine normally does, however haven't been back for almost 2 years and GPs are that busy I think that some routine tasks have fallen by the wayside. Hopefully I'll be seeing my GP in 3 weeks.

No point vaccinating immigration officers without vaccinating those working in the hospitality and tourism industry here.
Went to IO Wednesday afternoon for a re-entry permit. Heaving in there. Far more in there than any bar in Pattaya

You need to head to "Pin Up" it's better than ever.
Closed for 2 weeks but probably much longer. 2 weeks was announced at the beginning of the first lockdown, when daily cases were not as high as they are now and the virus not as virulent. How many months did it continue for? 3months, 4? Expect much worse this time. I'm off.

If you plan to come back why would you leave?
Lots of reasons for people to make the round trip. For me, urgent medical treatment, only available in the UK, birth of my first grandchild, vaccine, and to see friends and family that I haven't seen for 2 years now.

Exactly. Why are we still seeing references to Biden threads?
There aren't. Click on "Theme" at the bottom of the page. Select "copy". Back out, go into theme again and click back onto default. Sorted.

Ask me 2 weeks after Songkran
My UK quarantine will be over by then. I really need to know what checks are being made to ensure that people are observing quarantine.

Whilst this breaking news story from a Grant Shapps statement doesn't answer my concerns about the system it does offer a glimmer of hope that the need for quarantine and testing costs may reduce from 17th May so I just hope Thailand is deemed a Green Zone then.
How many boxes does Thailand tick?
A traffic light system, which will categorise countries based on risk alongside the restrictions required for travel, will be set up to protect the public and the vaccine rollout from international COVID-19 variants.
Key factors in the assessment will include:
- the percentage of their population that have been vaccinated
- the rate of infection
- the prevalence of variants of concern
- the country’s access to reliable scientific data and genomic sequencing

Nothing (although the pubs aren't open!)
I was just pointing out the absurdity of some of the Covid rules that are put in place in the UK.
They'll be open when I return in 2 weeks. Nice beer garden 20 yards from my quarantine accommodation.

The ridiculous thing is if you live on your own you have to break quarantine to go out and find a special postbox to send the tests to the lab!
What, in practice, prevents you from breaking quarantine? My local is 20 yards from my apartment.

Dr. Warin did a root canal for me already and he has been my number one dentist here in Pattaya for very many years. He is also famous for implants. I visited the Pattaya Bangkok Hospital for a crown before I knew Dr. Warin. Was expensive and not a good experience.
Khun Warin advised me to have my root canal at BPH as he wasn't qualified to do the procedure. I had an excellent experience at BPH.

Thought I'd try and find out what questions are asked in the 'Passenger Locator Form' which apparently you should only complete up to 48 hours before departure. When you press on START button it asks if you have an account which I didn't but thought it might be a good idea to set one up so attempted to so I entered my email address, mobile phone number, password (all 14 characters with uppercase, lowercase, special chars rubbish) and pressed submit. An SMS is supposed to be sent to the phone with a verification code but instead nothing happened. There was no button to press for HELP anywhere
After 15 minutes waiting I decided to try again but then when I tried to enter my details again it said the email username was already in use ! So I have run out of ways to create an account until I can get assistance from our non-existent GOV.UK support team. What a shambles and remember all Britons returning to the UK are supposed to be using this system ! Will try the no account option and see how far I get.
Tried that but only got as far as entering email and mobile phone numbers then when I entered my June flight details it blocked me from going further and said my details would be deleted in 7 days. What a joke don't they realise people need to plan flights way in advance. So short-sighted of GOV.UK.
You can only enter the PCL within 48 hours of your flight. Why would you be doing that now? I am flying back in 2 weeks and will do it at the appropriate time. Already booked my day 2 and day 8 tests, £180. The only problem I had was with the test and release scheme where you have another test on day 5. You can do it by post but by the time you get your results back quarantine would be almost over. Limited number of walk in clinics, none north of Luton. I was hoping to do it at Boots but although they have 130 branches doing RT-PCR tests, for some reason they aren't part of the scheme.
Already booked my test at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, test in the morning, results in the afternoon.

I have been receiving UK State Pension WEEKLY for 8 years now, into my UK account. I have never had any notification from DWP, or from the Norwegian Pension people who send me a monthly pension. I guess that, if the IO asked, I could show him my UK bank statement which says DWP.
I use the statement and original notification from DWP of my pension award.

Whatever method your comfortable with, but for many using the income method (which is what the topic is about) for annual extensions, it would be a method to avoid.
Which is what I said. Used to use that method when embassy letters were available (still available for many countries) but now I just use it for a top up during the month.

You think Bangkok Bank exchange your foreign currency to Thai baht for free.
If BKK are exchanging the currency, you'll get their rate.
No, Mastercard do. Bangkok bank just give me the cash. no involvement with my account or exchanging currencies

Your delusional if you think it incurs no fees.
It incurs no fees No additional fees on my CC Halifax Clarity, none from Bangkok Bank.
I also get the mastercard exchange rate which is comprable to Transferwise.

Why do you get that since your bank book and/or statement will show it as a FTT transfer to your account at Bangkok Bank.
I have only needed my bank book and a one year statement to to apply for 2 extensions using the income option.
Plus bank letter confirming your account and, in Jomtien, evidence that the money has come from a pension.
I have found it easier to use 2x6 month statements which are available in branch rather than sending to head office for 1x12 month statement.

My preferred method of transferring funds from my UK bank to my Thai bank was always to walk into any branch of Bangkok bank, hand over my UK credit card and withdraw the rquired amount in cash, re depositing whatever amount I chose into my Bangkok bank account. No fees and doesn't take seconds, instant. Unfortunately, IO won't accept that method of transfer to qualify for the 65k/ month, so I only use it now in addition to the 65k.

Slightly off topic, but i had a broken tooth with pain, i visited several local Dentists who said it needs to be pulled out, having 3 pulled out in the last 10 years i kept searching hoping for a better option, finally at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital the Dentist said no need to be pulled out they can Root Canal, and crown it which has now been done, and happy with the work...
Very ferw dentists in Pattaya will attempt root canal. Even Dr Warin advised me to go to BPH for root canal. BPH has a large state of the art dentistry department and is undoubtedly the best place to go for any dentistry work......if you can afford it. My root canal surgery cost me slightly more than it did in the UK.

Sounds wonderful. Are you living there?
I find the visa system not as accommodating for me as Thailand and have a Thai wife. If I were single and uncommitted to Thailand, I probably would. I like to visit as often as possible, not been for 18 months now and missing it.

From England.
The variant was first detected in England due to a much higher level of research into active variants than other countries. There is no strong evidence that it originated in the UK.

Frozen British Pensioners

I get it. Always have done, and the winter fuel allowance and my Christmas bonus. And before you ask, I haven't set foot in the UK for 2 years. If someone tries to rob me, I rob them.
