If you watched it you know he wasn't the focus for the vast majority of it. How many words were spoken in the few days of which 200 were Trump. He is the opponent though - some would say an opponent of low quality worth mentioning from time to time.

Nothing in the article about surrendering. It's about considering keeping the leader safe at a particular time due to information he was targeted.

How do you feel about the way Jon Stewart talks about Trump. He has some good points doesn't he.
-
I don't get the contradiction. They are not saying working hard and getting wealthy is bad. Just that those on higher income should contribute more tax.

Not a myth. Most developed nations inflation surged and had been higher in 2023 compared to 2020. This article spells it out pretty well with references as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021–2023_inflation_surge Accept Biden has to cop some responsibility but hard to see what Trump would have done different.

Many flights Melbourne Bangkok are cheaper than Melbourne Bali or say Perth Bangkok. Competition and demand I suppose.

But you do understand in simple terms there are 2 phases of covid. The period where economy is somewhat shut down - low demand for oil - inflation low of course - and the latter phase when everything has to recover - that's the part with the supply issues and all that Trump spending. Biden did add a bit to inflation as he went on an early spending spree - not unreasonably thinking the economy needed help to get going again - but most concur the after effect of Covid was by far the biggest effect. A form of evidence of that is that inflation was world wide rather than in the States only.

I think a lot of Republicans are seeing that Trump and Vance are not up to the job of winning new votes so they are now saying - it's not about them - it's about our policies. Dan Crenshaw on Bill Maher. Lindsay Graham on Meet the Press. Distance themselves from them - almost implore Trump in particular but Vance too to stay on message. The Trump schtick is so old now and looks silly against Kamala. The Republican policies often suck too but you can always find a statistic to make a case.

Kennedy gives Swing voters a clear choice, Trump
Fat is a type of crazy replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Kamala has been in this position for a month. Takes time to formulate her own policies and take on the role she has bravely taken on - but what an amazing job she's done so far. But internet boy calls her fat and ugly and a bag of rice whatever that means on different threads. Sad. -
Kennedy gives Swing voters a clear choice, Trump
Fat is a type of crazy replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Saw all the bad things Kennedy said about Trump. As has been discussed he sees he has no chance so sucks up to Kamala hoping for a good job he clearly doesn't deserve. She rejects him. Character. So he goes to Trump. Loser. I think Kennedy supporters were sincere - as well as misguided - but hopefully they'll see he is and was a dud and make up their own minds.- 303 replies

With your economic background you will understand the significance of Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell's words saying reducing interest rates is on the table as inflation is somewhat under control. Stock market happy. More to celebrate for Biden Harris and shouldn't hurt the polls.

Wrong. She has been much more balanced than Trump. Israel has the right to defend itself. Palestinians need dignity and security. Reasonable argument in her speech. She supports return of hostages - Israel ceasefire - suffering in Gaza to end. Actions speak louder than words but much more nuanced than Trump.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and it is understood there are many variables as you have outlined and it is difficult to predict which way they will go as the election gets closer. I guess my point was that you seemed to be specific about the undecideds as being invisible in polling and that that was a serious impediment to the worth of polls. It seems though that if it is a reasonable sample and a well run poll - and say we see Harris 4 points ahead this week compared to 4 points behind last week or vice versa - it seems it should still be be a fairly good indication of a trend and a valid guide to what's happening out there i.e. undecideds would not in particular be randomly unpredictable IN THEIR POLLING over time - even if their actual votes may be a little less easy to predict on the day. So polling trends - based on all participants in the poll - would be valuable and meaningful even if final votes by undecideds are not totally predictable for the reasons you have noted. It may be we are on the same page in a sense.
-
Maybe - with months to go who knows - but his point seems to be that undecided's are somehow invisible in polls or something.
-
I've seen you make this point before but I don't get it. If you ask a 1000 people - you will get Democrat, Republican, Other, Undecided, - the ratio will change over time changing the results. I don't disagree that polling is tricky - and mistakes have and will be made - but I don't see why a change in those ratios in say a swing state is not somewhat of a guide to who will win because - your point - undecided's are not reflected in polls.

It's been said. But I'll say it once more. Why not. Economies around the world struggled with outcomes linked to the recovery after covid - including issues rebuilding supply - that lead to inflation. That leads to the difficulty of how you control inflation - with tools such as interest rate policy - without destroying economic growth. My country of Australia has struggled as most - if not all - nations have. So where are we? America has excellent economic growth with significantly lowered inflation - not perfect but in many ways the envy of the world - the stock market shows confidence in what they have achieved. So what will Trump do - mine more to reduce costs? Big lead time with likely limited effect and other negative consequences. Increase tariffs - this will literally create inflation. He and his associates have talked off limiting the independence on interest rate policy - Turkiye tried that and see what happened when the lowered interest rates too fast. So over to you - what would have Trump done differently and what will he do now to make inflation go away.

My new weight loss regime.

Exercise is good for all sorts of reasons but I think the food intake is more important than exercise for losing weight because it takes a lot of effort to undo those calories. -

I may have sounded a bit harsh. Brett Baer isn't bad but so many of the others are toxic to me. The more trustworthy centre or right leaning media tends to be print e.g. The Economist, Forbes, even Murdoch's Wall Street Journal - hard to find balanced right wing stuff on normal tv I think. -

Got a free airport voucher for a late flight and tried Burger King which in Australia is called Hungry Jacks. God it was bad. Salty tasteless muck. Hope Brazil was fun. Food should be interesting there.
