  1. The movie Crumb is well worth a look. He and his dysfunctional family are pretty interesting. In terms of Fritz the Cat the movies were not too his liking.
  2. Democrats as Marxist. What a joke. Both parties are to the right as compared to the main parties in Australia. Except maybe on the border and the odd new social policy. Some one like Bernie Sanders - who can seem a bit radically left in the US - is often espousing policies that are normal and centrist compared to other countries. Take it easy. If either party win capitalism wins - protesters will keep protesting either way.
  3. In terms of opinions of associated parties pretty much every smart person in the room with Trump during his presidency said he was a tool.
  4. Spent two months in Thailand and lost excess pounds. Something to do with the heat and less comfort food I think.
  5. To be fair haven't seen his recent or post nomination stuff. But older interviews and speeches seemed fairly on target and clever and even interesting. But maybe his move to the right has made him seem callous and less appealing.
  6. Vance is a good speaker. Good story. Rust belt state. Smart. Big negative is his embracing of MAGA stuff to get where he is. But he will likely pivot to be seen as more moderate. I think he is a good weapon compared to so many Republicans who have no style or substance.
  7. I concur that the worker can be worse off and the rich do benefit - Republican and Democrat. Fair to want action. Not convinced either side will really stop the low cost labour. On crime specifically it showed how Fox and Trump succeeded in a few months to make migrant crime a big electoral issue when the evidence of it was low and a few high profile examples being pretty much wrong. But it achieved the aims and the audience is left none the wiser.
  8. Interesting John Oliver episode where they do a fairly deep dive on the 'migrant crime' wave as advertised by Trump and Fox News. Should really watch it if you believe there is a huge migrant crime wave.
  9. Same old same old though. Raise questions as though she has some huge insight into what went on really that's being hidden by dark forces or the main stream media. But she has nothing.
  10. Listen to a Trump speech if you can stop yourself from nodding off. Where his mind goes. Ask yourself if he is really smart on the things he should be smart about on world affairs, economics, actual things that matter in formulating policy . Street smart in some ways. OK maybe not dumb and ignorant if compared to the average punter but compared to other Presidents - for sure in my opinion.
  11. Harris isn't my pick - superficial things like her nasally whiny voice are not assets. But she's fairly smart. Trump is dumb and ignorant. So there's that.
  12. Never has been yet beat Trump after he had 4 years to prove himself.
  13. I hear it can be a tad polluted.
  14. I don't believe he has dementia. Watch recent speeches and the press conference and interviews - he clearly understands what he is saying and often gives good insightful answers even if a bit garbled from time to time. No teleprompter. Ask yourself if you could do the much better under pressure dealing with complex issues. He was shielded a bit but he was less bad in the past. The debate was really bad and aging is likely the reason and clearly he is not up to being president of The United States for 4 more years. Please stop exaggerating though this narrative that he has had some sort of serious long term dementia that is only now coming to the surface. Dementia is not a word that should be used unless you know what you are talking about e.g. doctor. I don't quite get your 9 11 point .
  15. Need to do better than that. Critical thinking requires evidence of your claim. Not - I watch Fox News and crime seems to be bad.
  16. I intend to spend time in Australia and Thailand so for me this seems to make things much easier with no more need to worry about the forms and money in the bank and all that.
  17. Your comment was about Kamala's comments though as a comparison to what Vance said - suggesting that it's same same . My point is it's not. I can't find that quote as being made by or about Biden on google too. In 50 years they'll be unacceptable or silly or off the cuff stuff - Biden's had lot's of those. But normally not consequential like denying election results based on nothing. Hopefully soon it will be Trump versus someone else and Biden can leave a hero who kicked Trump out in 2020.
  18. I don't buy that. Harris's criticism was about some specific bussing policy between schools that Biden did not support to her satisfaction decades before. A fairly obscure criticism. Vance clearly articulated why he thought Trump was inappropriate in a way most sensible people concur with - but like many others he was dumbfounded by Trump's ongoing popularity with the masses so had a choice - stick to his morals or drop his beliefs and join the fold. A pathetic decision. Trump had a chance to make a sensible concise speech to attract new people to the fold at the convention. Instead he made 93 minute speech that had his own supporters bored to tears. Who does that? Weird.
  19. If long boring narcissistic speeches made one insane then maybe he's insane. Longest acceptance speech ever apparently.
  20. Funny. It was more probably unwelcome advice being that some older posters might think that a 47 year old poster might be a bit young to be seemingly hanging around here so much. The other post was wishing someone well. But I thought - as a non prolific poster - no one cares so delete.
  21. I didn't for long thank you for suggesting though.
