If you're in the UK and you ask for directions to someplace you'll likely get our answer along the lines of, "turn left at the Tesco, go striaght for two hundred yards then turn right at the Tesco, over the bridge past the Tesco and the building you want is on the left, next to the Tesco", I'd prefer Thailand doesn't turn out the same way although 7/11's made a good start.
On every 700 Thai there is one 7-11
And my bet is on the protest being organised by 7-11 & CP

Here in Chiang Mai there are various visa assist agents who will take over doing your 90 day reports for 1000 baht/year. A real bargain if travel is a hardship or you're too busy. Maybe the I/O was going to recommend a service like that. It's perfectly legal for a third party to do your 90 day reports and doesn't require a special letter or form.

It seems to be possible
Several Khon Kaen based expats, pay 1000 baht at KK immigration, and do not need to do the reports.
They get an official bill.

This is very good news indeed.
We definitely need another one of those good restaurants.
Think I will plan a visit......2020 or so.......

Nothing to do with air purifying.
Just simple exhaust ventilators, originally designed for under the hood, and now mounted on the roofs of cars.
Do not work very well with airco really.
ZTo be fair they work wonder to bring down a few degrees the temperature under the hood.
And work wonder if you smoke in the car, tranport a dog, or have eaten gassy......
But airco and extraction?
No!

The legal price is 10 baht per kilometer, by the meter.
Don't know about any reliable driver.
Guess there will always be some taxi who wants to earn a good journey.

Thailand and dogs.
An awful combination.
a dog which has ever attacked a human being should be killed, it can never be trusted any more.
Those dogs will attack again!

The farang spend their money in the local economy, small shops, bargirls, small bars, small hotels & condo's. etc.
So, not with the big companies.
There is more. the farang give the poorer people wrong ideas.........
The big companies do not like that.
Chinese tourists on the other hand spend money only in big hotels, big restaurants, big bus companies and do not use bargirl services.
The big companies like that.

The governmental regulated taxi fare is around 10 baht a kilometre.
For example, Bangkok-Khon Kaen 450 km = 4500 baht.
For renting a pickup, who knows, maybe you should contact someone to arrange this.
If you are talking about bicycles, try to find a bus, and most companies will do, to take te things with you in the bus.
Many direct connections from the airport to Isan, nowadays.

This guy is the sole reason for the current political climate in Thailand. And reconciiliation is for his benefit only. The man is a coward. If he cares about Thais and Thailand then he needs to do one of 2 things. Shut up or come home and go directly to jail. Then I am sure we can all move forward.
If he cares about Thais and Thailand?
Of course he does not give a d*mn about Thailand but the possibilities he gets to rob the country.
And the Thais are only there to be used by him for the robbing mentioned above.
Poor Thailand, poor people

will it change anything ? NO of course .... As the corrupted police is a lot of involved in those scams nothing will stop . The only possible change would be when the amount of tourists bored to be seen as walking wallets will stop to come here.
Well I agree with you that it will not change any thing. But it does let the Thai government know that they are being watched. While they may not be in fact aren't the smartest in the world they are not dumb enough (I think) to completely ignore it.
As far as being seen as a walking wallet. That is common the world over in tourist destinations.
Wanna bet?

OLooking around Khon Kaen, I see very much building activity.
Most of it is condo's, the simple kind.
I also see a lot of condo's finished and not occupied.
Same with town houses, building goes on and on, and very many empty.
The higher priced homes, building projects are speeding down.
Strange for Thailand, rental prices are going down also, not much, but definitely going down.
I guess the market for houses is getting saturated, like in Bangkok & Pattaya.

The court ruled that Articles 57(3) and 57(5) contravened the charter's principle of equality and fair practice for all, as they treated married and unmarried women differently.
I hope the courts will look at how the laws apply to Thais when married to foreigners. Thai women should have the exact same
rights as Thai men concerning their foreign partner.
Yes, the Thai women married to foreigners should have the same rights under the law.
On the other hand, the women are married to a foreigner........

Say again?
You are looking for a good life insurance?
Are you serious?
I presume you mean good for you, yes?
There are none.
Life insurance is only good for the companies.
You should know by now that banks and insurance companies are legalised criminal institutions.

What the boys from Pattaya were up for the weekend?
Yes as I recall they were Cobra Gold. By no means wishing to diminish these guys but the only direct Special Forces link was that they were training with Thai Special Forces and staying with the Thai special Forces camp at Mae Rim. I know one guy was a sniper instructor and they had some Korean Special Forces, and US Special Forces there at the same time.
Yes and Thai Special forces do not belong in the same sentence as any other Special forces in the west, which is why they were training with regular Us forces as opposed to US special forces which kinda goes to show there is no comparison.
Special education maybe
DK
Easy said.
But please be so kind to stave your words.
Thank you.
Yes, I mean about the Thai special forces.......

That is the way it is in Thailand.
You want to change it?
Good luck

Unfortunately not, she will have to go to the Amphur that originally issued the birth certificate
Not entirely true.
It can be done in another Amphur.
That said, forget Chonburi/Pattaya, so sorry have to go somewhere where tourists & all are not earmarked as teamoney suppliers.
If, somebody, two family members or some official or somebody like that, is available to undersign a declaration that she is who she is, where she was born, who her parents were, there might be a birthplace declaration.
But for that, the original, damaged birth certificate must be lost in a fire or something like that.
Can be done in any Amphur.
My wife was born in Ayuddya, got one in Khon Kaen

In a recent press article a police general blamed the Interior Ministry's gun welfare programme for the upsurge of gun violence committed by teenage hoodlums. Previously the vocational school thugs always used home made pen guns that fire a single .22 round. Now I notice that that seem to have access to .38 revolvers which are significantly more lethal, although being shot at point blank range with a pen gun is also not a pleasant experience. So there may be some truth in the policeman's quote. The ministry's gun welfare programme imports 200,000 to 300,000 .38 revolvers annnually and sells them at cheap tax free prices to anyone in the provinces who has any form of official status and that include local defence volunteers and village security guards. There is no need to present a clean criminal record and there is apparently no restriction on the number of guns an individual can own. Many of the guns are quickly sold off on the black market following a summary police report that they have been stolen. This is in sharp contrast to the strictly regulated sales of guns by gun stores which are only legally permitted to sell 30 new guns a year. Clearly a spectacularly irresponsible policy that is intended purely to line pockets at the ministry with nil regard for the consequences for the nation.
You have no idea at all about lethality of small arms rounds.
The .22 LR is the round of choice for illegal use at close range.
Because It tumbles so nicely

Don't complain, I can only view this ouverture as a timely move after murdering tourists.
It is just the next chapter in the sinofication of Thailand
For the ruling class we are not only farang but most of all quailoh.
Small people will be attacked, big companies will remain untouched.

No doubt you,ll be hounded for being alarmist by both those who have vested interests in maintaining the facade of Thailand as a dream holidat destination and those who prefer to keep there heads burried in the sand.
Phuket truly is a wretched place, I was beaten unconcious by two Thais outside 7*11 around 3 years ago myself, all for the grand sum of around 600 bht.
check this link http://www.thephuket...amily-31469.php
The fact is the veil is really being lifted oh Thailand these days as the crooks and skum become ever bolder, with scams and deciets getting taken to a whole new level.
Just last week I had a Thai guy come up to outside the mall in Siam square and demand 20 bht, I politely said mai pen rai cap and moved away. The nutter started screaming and frothing at the mouth calling me everything under the sun. I do not doubt he was on the point of attacking me until the mall security overheard and started coming in my direction. He walked away pretending to shoot me with his finger.
These stories are everywhere everyday and soon people will start turning there backs on the place en masse.
I've also seen incidents like that in UK and USA. Not just a Thai problem. I've been here for 2 years and haven't seen any violent incidents at all. I've spent 6 months In New York and seen a few. And I've seen plenty of incidents like this in the UK. What you describe is just one mad person. It sounds like an isolated incident. I've been to Siam Square lots of times and never seen anything remotely like what you described.
You sound like the governor.........

I suppose nobody is even considering the impact/influence of the pact with China for developing military hardware?
I also suppose nobody would consider the etnicity of the ruling class in Thailand
Oh well, I guess I am alone in this?

MoonRiverOasis the pictures, is this made now ? could it have been imported into Thailand?
I followed yesterday a few cars behind an SUV that I had never seen before, I did manage to get just 1 car behind, It said FORD on the back, was white with red plates, the back + a glimpse of the side looked very like this, was bigger + a lot different than the new shape Escape, but no idea what model it was other than a Ford.
Edit: Looked at Ford USA SUV pictures when I got home but could not find anything that looked like it, Nearest was something called Ford Edge, but that look very much bigger in the picture than what I was following, it was bigger than the Escape but not that big
Have a look in the Ford Australia website
You might have seen the Ford Territory, which is officially imported into Thailand

Quite simple explanation for the long delivery times.
Many more orders as expected........
Not only from Thailand, that is.

Look around on the internet and maybe TV about other National Parks and the land that is claimed as theirs.
Then you might get an idea of what is going on......
