  1. It doesn't matter to the child if the paedophile assailant is 33, 63, or 93.......the child is just as damaged and traumatised.

This guy knew what he was doing, age is no barrier to justice. Also well done to the Thai and Mynamar authorities for pursuing him and bringing him to justice, they need to send out a message loud and clear........the time of predatory paedophiles flying into South East Asia unencumbered is over. The law is waiting for you.

Age is no barrier to being a scumbag, this guy is a 93 year old paedophile scumbag, jail him for the rest of his days. End of.

    You live in Thailand?

Any idea what can be done here?

    Yes?

OK, then stop ranting and use your brains, then maybe wisdom will hit you.

Indeed, this case reeks of money........................

I always get a strange taste in the back of my mouth if I hear or see somebody shouting abuse re cases like this.

  2. Attention: If using this service, take care of a visum for Laos BEFORE departure.

The bus does not wait for passengers that do not have a visum.

It is possible to obtain a visum at the border, however, this procedure takes too long.

In other words, bye bye bus, and possibly your luggage!

  3. The Thai written language is very difficult, even for many Thai people, educated or not.

It would be very much easier to read if the words in a sentence would be seperated, not like now, one continuing stream.

There seems to be an advice, somewhere, to do exactly this.

The reason this advice was ignored?

Probably because any change is viewed as impossible.

  4. The Landrover Defender was not really officially imported in Thailand for many years.

Now, the 90 and 110 in passenger guise are imported with a pricetag of 3+ million baht.

Will not be easy to find a good one, because if the above

There are indeed a few around, but they are, I guess, all grey imports.

Personally a 110 HT with the 5 cyl engine would be my favourite.

Or even better, a 130 crew cab.

The rumour that the current Defender might soldier on, maybe from CKD-kits to start with, later completely built from scratch alongside Tata products, in Thailand

And that even after the introduction of the new Defender

That might bring the price down to an acceptable.

  5. Has to be one some where, yet to meet a Thai who does not about blue books, green books etc. Yes you most definatly need one and its not a bad idea to keep a photo copy under the seat and if your the main driver bike in your name, saves hassle of who ever's name its in having to deliver orginal to police. Just my experience, area's may differ. Also required for taxing bike.

The green book is not really needed for tax & insurance purposes.

Can pay those things without the green book.

This happens when the bike, or car, is financed.

And then registered in the finance company's name.

When the loan is paid off, the book will be registered in your name, and all tax payments will be printed in the book.

After that you need the book for tax & insurance

  6. Buy the squid, wash the filets with fresh water, then wash with SODAWATER to get rid of the smell.

With a sharp knife make incisions to help the squid getting softer

Marinate with garlic powder, pepper, salt, some paprika powder, and if you like Chinese 5 spices powder in a little vinager and soy sauce.

Leave the marinated filets in the fridge for the night.

Fry and cut in small pieces to eat.

    Delicious!

  7. There is a place just opened here on Samui selling the same type of thing. Comes with various different bodies and engines up to 375cc I'm led to believe. Cheap if you can't afford a pick up.

In Udon Thani is a fctory that builds the "passenger" version, called "Skylab".

    Engine sizes 110-150 cc

    http://www.atipongmo...roduct/tornado/

I do know there is a tuk-tuk manufacturer in the Bangkok area that builds a skylab-type freight only version with an 175 cc engine, called Hero Sky

Monika Motors is the name of the factory.

Problem with the machines mentioned above is they are not eligible for a number plate, although insurance is no problem.

Never saw something like the Champ Jumbo 150

Would like to have some info about this "samlor"

  8. A few years ago arrived behind a 747 load of Chinese tourist none spoke English or wrote it. They hadn't filled out their cards arriving at immigration backing up the line to over an hour.

This is very true. Though I hate to generalize about a nation/cultural group, I have to agree that the Chinese are the rudest, most inconsiderate people on the planet...and NOW they have MONEY! You neglected to mention how they brazenly cut into immigration lines...one has to be alert and use one's elbows judiciously to avoid being pushed back by them.

Unfortunately, within 50 years they will--quite literally--rule the world. We are doomed.

An unnecessary fright, the Chinese will eventually go back to what they were before, an inward looking people.

They are indeed very much brazen, uncouth, inconsiderate, and also the inventors of squeeze.

And that will be their downfall.

More and more (western) countries are considering their trade agreements with China, which in fact are very much onesided.

Which does not spell good things for China.

China feels the pressure and tries to be the biggest player in Asia.

And there discovers that Chinese are not generally loved.

Also, inside China, unrest is growing.

The only thing keeping things more or less under control is the CP.

If that influence will disappear, presumably China will probably fall apart.

  9. If I have been advised correctly then if you wantto sell your car then you must go to the DLT office where it is registered (see name of province underthe reg No.) not to any DLT say in another province.

I have a car which was registered in Banglamung but I now live in Buriram. I am told that I should re-register the vehicle in my home province but to do that I have to go to Banglmung and de-register there first. (or I can pay a man (3.000B) outside the Buriram DLT office to arrange this for me). The same goes if i wish to sell the car. Crazy I know.

    The way to go?

Take car and paperwork, including personal, to the Land Transport Ofiice where you want to re-register your car.

The numbers of the car will be checked, the book will be taken in, your old number plates also, and then you wait for a few hours.

And bingo, there is your book, registration number changed, new number plates, you pay the official fees for the new number and plates, and you are ready to go.

And this can only be done in the office where you go for the new registration.

The old registration office can not do anything, and de-registering a car?

Page one in your book is the important part, the first registration.

And that can not be changed.

Any other change of ownership, registration number, roadtax, whatever, is done in the book.

If you de-register a car, means that the car is destroyed, or exported, the book and number plates are taken in.

And then it is impossible to re-register the car.............

  10. Of course the ludicrous thing is that I can pitch up at the motor office with my condo lease, phone and electric bills, bank and credit card statements and they mean nothing.

I can go to my embassy, say I live at 23 Railway Cuttings, I need no evidence, they sell me a letter confirming what I have told them, and that meaningless letter is perfectly acceptable to the Thai authorities.

Is it just me who fails to grasp the logic?

    The logic?

    Ahhhhhhh, so simple.

It is called covering your arse.

The document from the embassy, for whatever it's worth, is an official document, so very much suited to hide behind if somethiing might go wrong

  11. Driving around Thailand with a car having one or more bullet holes might draw rather unhealthy attention from the BIB?

Quite easy to close a hole in a car's carrosery.

The door, or whatever part of the car, needs a respray.

There might be a colour dfifference showing up after some time.

  12. Number of available buses: 4

Number of seats per bus: 50?

Expected time of journey including boarding and deboarding: 1 hour?

Number of possible journeys per bus per day: 8 in each direction, 16 in total

    Total available journeys: 64

    Total seats available 64 x 50 = 3200

AOT declares that there will be 10,000 less passengers from Swampy.

Which means 20,000 movements between the airports.

    Ahhhhhh.....

    Good business for the taxibranche?

    And bus 555?

Anyone wants to try out a new hugely profitable luxury bus service?

Or maybe SRT will wake up and will soon build branch line between Swampy and the eastern railway line.

All necessary points are already there and both the eastern and the northern line are very much underused..

    I think.

    20,000 passengers mean 400 journeys.

Maybe AOT should hire some more buses?

  13. What have they done all year? Simple, devised more hollow political diatribe to justify huge budgets where the majority goes back to the politicians and their 'business' associates, and the Thai people suffer more, and get more taxes added to line the pockets of these criminals. But that's okay - the Reds will keep voting for Miss Yingluck and the puppet master because ignorance is bliss.

"the Reds will keep voting for Miss Yingluck and the puppet master because ignorance is bliss".

Unfortunately this is the crux of the matter!!! Their stupidity and ignorance defies belief as they blindly follow and aimlessly support this abject bunch of criminals towards an ever more deteriorating life style and bleak existence as they swallow the lies and deceit!!

When will they ever learn? probably never seems the most likely answer to that onesad.png.

And your solution to Thailand's problems would be?

A solution to the flood problems was offered to the Thai government.

However, same government decided that the Chinese solution was more acceptable for Thailand.

    Hence the repeating water problems........................

(Psttt, it is said the Chinese solutions offers more opportunities for...........)

  14. Thanks Eff1n2ret but what i have read on this forum is most believe that dual nationality is permitted. BUT a lot say it is only overlooked.by the thai government, Who is right??

Officially, a Thai taking on another nationality should inform authorities.

The Thai nationality will then be taken away.

Getting back the nationality seems to be simple, need the birth certificate and an old passport or ID-card.

And preferably the old tambien baan

    Way to do:

    - Do not register your departure to another country wil the Amphur, keep your tambien baan

    - Do not inform authorities in Thailand or the Embassy of accepting the UK nationality

    - Depart and arrive in Thailand on your Thai passport, and the UK on the UK passport.

    - Keep the Thai passport valid, ie, get a new one from the Thai embassy if the old one is out of date

    - If in Thailand and your ID-cards needs renewal, do it.
