From link - Despite the surge in new infections, he assured that it is still safe to travel to Hua Hin, as officials have disinfected all the venues visited by the infected and those believed to be infected.
Course it is
I'm sure those in charge still believe the majority of transmission is by touch/surface, like disinfection of markets 2 weeks after they close due to outbreak. Better spending money on more test and trace.

Who with two brain cells firing would come here now???
Reducing quarantine is idiocy. Good chance that's ho the UK variant got in.
Politicians everywhere have a hard time admitting their mistakes ("She told me she was 18!"). Will our brass suck it up & shut it down before it's too late (considering it may well be already too late)?
I think you'll find the UK variant was discovered before anyone on 7 day quarantine had finished their time.

I haven't seen that stat. Do you have a source for it that you can post?
It's on the MOPH website https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/situation.php
Has the daily persons qualifying for test and lab tests carried out.

Testing jumped to 10000 yesterday, expect these results to filter in to figures over the next few days I think

40 min rapid result, sounds like cross lateral flow tests been used, free to everyone in the uk now, twice weekly if you want, but a positive still requires a PCR confirmation.

There's your problem. My father went for his second shot yesterday, in and out in 15 minutes.
Agree with that, UK had my first vaccine, 10minute time slot for arrival, 10m once in for paperwork, quick chat with person doing vacc about risks, and 15m waiting after to check for allergy reaction. Very slick operation they were running at my local hospital/vaccine centre.

Really, months to control? They need to ramp up their testing rapid, speed up turnaround of tests so they can trace quicker. From the calls for people to come forward who have been to certain places I think there test and trace is at it's limit. At a certain case number per day, tracing becomes very difficult due to the sheer numbers of close contacts.

So a venue has a case of covid, close it down and people just go to next venue. The owners have no way of knowing who is infected if they have no symptoms and once on the premises to eat/drink they have to remove their face covering. You can clean down tables, floors etc all you like, but pretty sure they've found that 80% plus of infections are picked up by airborne transmission. Back door way of closing venues down and the government saying "It's not our fault you had an infection, it's your lack of hygiene protocols." Saving face at the forefront again I think.

Warning came 6 days after because probably took that long to get results back. Time lines etc always seem to come out 5-6 days after they tested positive. Need 24 hr turnaround on results for test and trace to work, as the uk found out out to it's detriment.

Cannot see a huge rush of patrons going to respond to this request, unless they get sick enough to think they need medical treatment only available at hospital.

The true metric is hospitalisations - those with serious symptoms.
Many seem to be in a panicked frenzy regarding Covid-19. I agree that it's serious, those in risk groups need to be protected. What happened in Italy and Spain in early 2020 is frightening, but, what we are not seeing with all these increased cases in Thailand is increased deaths or any reporting of increased hospitalisations.
Maybe we have not yet observed the full impact of the increased cases.
Have to remember by the time you see infected people bad enough to require hospital treatment you can be 3-4 weeks into a wave and deaths 4-6 weeks later. By then it's too late. Testing and finding out the incidence gives you a rough idea of what likely hospital capacity is going to be needed.

In the UK highest source of spreading I believe, visiting families/friends in their homes or private parties and workplace.

will allow me to self isolate at home?
no?
then i think i'll pass until i'm too sick to stay home
And in your comment is the stark truth of what is going through most people's minds I think who live in Thailand. Well said.

Wow, 70 people before, now 178, exponential growth showing its hand but lets vaccinate those already exposed as per BMA report for 6000 doses for the area. Have they any idea how vaccinations work? They need people who understand what the medical people advise them.

Is this for real? Once vaccinated it takes at least 2 weeks to start building immunity and ideally 2 doses spread over 5-12 weeks. Plus if already infected with covid have seen some reports of a worse reaction to the vaccine. Priorities are clearly to keep the money train rolling.

may, how about should, or by May it will be lights out Thailand. Do these guys know what's happening or have they been taken by surprise. Test A Nutin, Test.
They haven't a clue on what's happening with regards to covid because they only mainly test people who come forward at hospitals who have symptoms and sporadic surge testing, normally targeted at areas with immigrant workers. The UK now offers free testing for a large percentage of population who have to go out to work or have children in schools, plus pupils in secondary schools.

There seems to be little or no concern regarding the large rise in cases in Bangkok. All the progress achieved by previous lockdowns has been wasted, and the capital is now on the verge of large scale infection. Why the change in direction? The current level of infection warrants immediate closure of all pubs, bars, entertainment areas etc. Interprovincial travel should be reintroduced and all Songkran activities banned. Why is Thailand not learning from the mistakes made by Europe and the USA?
One advantage Thailand has is that it doesn't carry out testing in such large numbers as europe and USA. Uk 1 million plus tests a day PCR/cross lateral flow. Don't test big numbers, don't find, easy.

Thailand sequences every positive case entering the county via ASQ. A few months ago, they found an entire British family with the UK B.1.1.7 strain, which so far has not got into Thailand. They also sequence many cases in hospitals to track the local strains, contributing a portion to the international surveillance database GISAID. You can download from there.
Thailand was the first country outside China to detect a COVID case, on Jan 8 2020 before PCR testing was available anywhere. The did it by sequencing. Thailand genetically sequenced every case before developing their own PCR test, which they registered with the WHO.
Even so, it is absolute idiocy to reduce quarantine below 14 days.
Thailand's brilliant genetics and covid control is done by Thai medical staff and citizens. The government decides about ASQ and vaccines. Can you see the difference?
Do they publish figures of the percentage of positives they are sequencing, I think in the uk it's about 30% as average unless they detect a specific strain in an area, then they do surge testing of whole area and sequence every positive result. Read a report that uk sequences up to 50% of the worlds requirements as to sequencing, on behalf of other countries. I hope Thailand is carrying on doing robust sequencing as it's one way to keep on top of situation, unlike uk who discovered the new uk strain too late.

So now they have found those are they going to test the rest? 214 is less than 10%.
Probably not, that cost money as CCSA complained about with the migrant outbreak earlier. Just lock them down and go for the herd immunity in the group, same as migrant/factory camps.

Exactly my question
Thailand reports 789 new COVID-19 cases, 1 more death

Exponential possibly, too early to tell but case numbers over last week doubling every two days, this how the boffins describe exponential, the number of days it takes for cases to double.
