  1. The Thai Air Asia AirBus 320's are fitted with CFM International's CFM56-5B engines. They are described as one of the most reliable engines in service. The big risk from hail is "flame out". After a few serious incidents early in the engine's model life, the engine design was modified so that it was more difficult for hail to be sucked into the engine. However, the emphasis for most airlines is on hail storm avoidance. In most countries the aircraft would have been diverted to an alternative airport. In China, foreign aircraft are restricted to specific air corridors and air controllers are reluctant to divert foreign aircraft to a different airport.
  2. Humans are no longer running naked through the savannah in need of protecting their penises are they? Be grateful your penis is not like many animals as you would not be able to have the type of sex lives one reads about on the internet. Many land animals have bones in their penis. It can interfere with some of the positions the old codgers of Thailand are known for. Be grateful that you do not have a dog's format otherwise you would be unable to remove it for quite some from the target destination and the spines would interfere with self pleasure. You could be like a monitor lizard and have a hemipene. It doesn't have a cover because it keeps it inside its body. You could be like a bird and have a cloacea and smear your ejaculate on your partner. BTW, your logic doesn't hold since humans have extra molars (wisdom teeth) and have them removed, and many people have their appendix removed. It was a vital organ at one time helping digest the raw plant and animal substances humans ingested. The fact is that these people with their false claims are mentally ill. They are ignorant, uneducated and marginalized. Inundating forums with nonsensical claims gives them an outlet. They are losers in every way.
  3. Let's stay focused. You write Bull<deleted>, which means that you do not accept that the Gazan casualties are comprised of military and associated personnel. You have no interest in acknowledging that reality. Instead you have created another new identity with which to bombard the forums with your pro-Hamas propaganda. Gaza was its own entity. It was Hamas that slaughtered the Fatah personnel and it was Hamas that has refused to hold an open election. It wasn't Israel firing missiles into Gaza. It was Hamas that fired missiles into israel everyday and that did not respect a ceasefire agreement that was in place. There is no Apartheid. You obviously do not understand what Apartheid means. Israeli Arabs have full rights. Arabs who are not Israeli and do not accept the state of Israel, and who consider themselves under the control of the PLA or Hamas governments and who live in their self governed zones are not israelis and cannot expect, nor demand the right to vote in Israel. The reason why Gazans and PLA residents are not allowed free access into greater Israel is because they are not citizens of Israel, and because of their past history of terrorism. Your demand is the same as demanding free access to Iraq for Iranians, or Free access to Germany for Syrians.
  4. But it isn't under IDF control as long as the tunnels exist and crisscross the territory allowing Gazan military to continue to operate, and as long as hostages are held.
  5. There are no "old hands". Most AN members were old when they arrived and after a few years were ready to die. If I look at the members listing from when I first started to read the forums, 80%+ are either dead or were forced to move back to their homelands. I can think of multiple members who are long dead. The CM forum had a nice in memoriam page. That's where you can find the old hands.
  6. Why does a russian toady have any interest in the US public broadcasting system?
  7. The federal funding is more critical for smaller market stations. Large market stations like Boston or New York can raise 85% or more of the budget from the public and corporations. Unfortunately, rural stations need the government grants. These are the radio stations that put out the tornado warnings, the farm reports and detailed information on water levels, drought conditions etc. The federal funds are used for content development, community services, and for providing service in markets that the private sector would otherwise ignore. There has been a reduction in local news and weather reporting with a centralization of broadcasting into super stations with pre-set programming often originating from a large urban area. These urban mega stations do not sent out the rural storm watch warnings, nor are they integrated with local civil defense networks. As I wrote, it will be the rural Republican towns and counties who suffer. Once those people in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Wyoming, Montana etc. start to see the impact, you can bet they will complain.
  8. No. Don't confuse short sighted, petty and stupid behavior for fascism. It is just ignorance, from the type of people who do not understand why there is a need for libraries or museums.
  9. PBS is not state controlled. It is the Public Broadcasting Network and has a diverse and apolitical board of directors.
  10. Colbert's show was unprofitable. The revenues did not cover the costs of the show, and this was no secret. The cutbacks were expected in 2023 after the other CBS evening shows were cutback. James Corden's show ended in 2023. There is no conspiracy. No one is watching late night TV the way they did back in the 1970's when it was the only option. NPR and PBS funding reduction is completely different than the commercial network cutbacks. It is a bad decision and rural USA will soon make its sentiments felt. Local PBS stations in the rural USA have a strong bond with their communities and it will not go over even in Republican districts. The cutbacks are the reflection of big city MAGA people. This old House, Antiques Road Show, Masterpiece Theater, Frontline, Washington Weekly, Local farm reports and agricultural specials and other shows are very popular and are funded by some large Republican contributors who do not support this reduction. I expect that funding will be restored in a year or two.
  11. Has that ever stopped them from doing it? Next up will be an announcement designating Thailand as a Hub of Buddhism. We will all wear orange and a piece of toxic string on our wrist, one day a week in solidarity.
  12. Ahh if only we could hear from Thai women, what they think about the bloated loser farangs who judge them.
  13. Thousands of hostile military personnel and logistics and support, including arms manufacturing, cyber attack and intelligence operatives have been terminated. This is never mentioned when the numbers are pushed out as if everyone is an innocent non combatant. If the Gazans want the deaths to stop, all they have to do is agree to end the war and to release the hostages. How long has Gaza had the ceasefire agreement on the table in front of it? The most current one has been offered since March, and still Gaza refuses to stop the war. Gaza still fires missiles and rockets at Israel, and those projectiles come from "civilian" areas.
  14. How else do you propose they deactivate the large military tunnel network and the heavy reinforced military bunkers? It is not a war crime to deactivate this military structures. Remember when the Gazans were complaining about not having enough rebar and cement to build things and Israel was letting in amounts sufficient for the declared project? Well, the Gazans were diverting a large portion of the construction supplies to their military infrastructure. Buildings were put up that were not well built and that were crumbling within years because the concrete, rebar and iron support beams were diverted to the military bunkers and tunnels. Remember when buildings would collapse, and Israel would be blamed, and engineers would say, there was no rebar or that the metal support skeleton was inadequate and no one would accept it?Now there is the evidence, but instead, you have ignored the fact that aid was diverted to military purposes and present the deactivation of military sites as a "war crime".
  15. Apologies, I read Patong.
  16. Cops are derelict in their duty. The 3 Indian scum admitted to soliciting a woman for prostitution. It was a criminal offence. Poor woman was humiliated. The cops will demand payment be given for loss of face when bar thugs scrap with unruly customers, but here, the cops pressure the poor woman and she repays 000 baht. The Indians made the error and should have covered her expenses at the very least, which means leaving her with 1000 baht. Cops and Indians deserve each other.
  17. I supposed, it depends on the time of the year. We were there at Christmas 2023. My Thai friends who had never been, disliked it. I caught a lot of stick for picking the destination. Very busy, congested and the quality of both Thai and farang was the subject of constant negative commentary. I found that Patong had changed for the worse compared to 5-10 years ago. It's just one big traffic nightmare with a cloud of vehicle exhaust hanging over the city. The bay was still polluted and overcrowded, with too many of the disgusting jet ski and parasailing scammers, and the tuk tuk thugs still control transportation. The airport transportation option was the same old rip off. Bangla Road was busy, but many of the venues were empty. It was one identical tacky bar after another with a noise level that was unhealthy. The ladyboy hustlers still work Bangla. I walked by my old favourite restaurants and bars around town, and saw that Covid had killed off most of them or redevelopment had chased them away. Absolutely, no one that I had known for years was around. Covid had forced so many people to go home,, and they never came back. There's a new Central shopping mall, but it was empty when I was there. people still flock to Jungceylon. The prices for goods and services were always 10-25% higher than Bangkok and have not come down. The fish restaurant on Rat U did not look appealing, not that they ever did, but it wasn't inviting and running the menu flapper gauntlet wasn't helpful. We walked by the old Paradise gay ghetto and it was dead. It used to be very busy, but I guess the era of specific gay bars has come to an end. The plaza leading to the large Paradise hotel tower looks it was redeveloped into generic shopping and lady bars now. Unfortunately, the pushy massage parlors still are all over the place with the aggressive workers and their Hello, where you from, you want massage nonsense.
  18. Pattaya bashing has been done to death, and ranks up there with sinsod threads. I am not a fan of Pattaya, but I can understand why it is popular with many people; - Accessible health care - Multiple language options - Many European food options, and a variety of restaurants - Affordable - Many activities can be walked to or are a short ride a way, with good transportation options. -Some of the best value shopping options, with western size options - Easy to get to, with a short drive unlike other Thailand resort cities. Pattaya isn't for me, because I find that the city is too busy and the lifestyle is too fast paced. I like to be able to have a long walk on the beach Pattaya's beach isn't good for that. It is one of the reason's I left Patong years ago.
  19. Oh goody, a Pattaya bashing thread. AN isn't fun without one of these.
  20. No one has asked whether or not the police officer was sober. How many time shave we seen the stories where the cop shoots up a bar or restaurant because he is annoyed or angry?
  21. How do police officers in Sweden, Australia, Canada, Japan et al manage to do it?
  22. Not at all. The question was asked as to where the wats obtain their funds. As most of the forum whingers are not conversant in the Thai language, they will find it easier to speak with another foreigner. They can ask the ones who give money to the wats, by way of purchases of the loud amulets about the circumstances of their purchases. I cannot answer on this one because I do not give money to any wats. There is a reason why some farangs will spend 10,000-50,000-100,000 on an amulet. Once they share their motive with you, you will be enlightened and can go back to complaining.
  23. Some people have families. Others have an attachment to their native lands. Others have family plots. Going home provides comfort to many because they hold happy memories of their childhood and might wish to be buried in proximity to their families.
  24. No. Norway, Sweden, Canada, Australia and many others are all advanced and economically developed nations. There is a rule of law, and a national culture of fairness. Yes, there are pollution issues in each of the countries, but they have environmental protection laws and and enforce those laws. These states do not harvest the orans of marginalized humans so that the wealthy and powerful can have them. There is no state sanctioned system of slave labour , nor do these nations use their military to invade and enslave or to take the land of others.
  25. OK. And you think an AI generated political spot is the source of truth? The robot speaks and you follow? Sadiq Khan has been elected by a majority of voters in London. He has a mandate to represent. The fact that the man is sometimes biased in favour of muslims and often supports causes that are associated with the interests of specific ethnic groups is a reflection of his voter base. However, the fact is that East Asians and Arabs only account for 15% of the London population. This means that a significant number of "English" people are voting for him. It's the left wing segment of the UK population that supports him: The same people who support his transportation policies, who have refused to act against unauthorized migrants and bogus refugees, and who refuse to rein in social services spending. The nation of chronic complainers is its own enemy.
