  1. Have the nuclear scientists been replaced? I don't know how safe the process and the end result will be if the experienced and skilled specialists are not there. Yes, Iran can build something, but it can also have a catastrophe along the way. It happens under the best of circumstances, so, I don't know how it would work now.
  2. That's unfair. Trump is politically expedient. His support for Netanyahu is mostly lip service and is intended to get him onboard for the coming peace talks. Trump is the only US President since Clinton who has a chance of getting a Middle East peace deal put in place. It would have been done had Iran not initiated the Hamas attack on Israel. It will require some bold brave steps but the Gulf Arabs are the only ones who can decide, but they need Netanyahu to behave and to give them something to work with. There is a lot I disagree with on Trump, but, some of the things he is doing are long overdue, and middle east peace is one of them. Give him a chance.
  3. According to some polls there was support in Israel for the Iranian intervention. https://en.idi.org.il/articles/59726 Flash Survey: 70% of Israelis Support the Decision to Attack Iran However, the campaign against Iran, has accelerated the Israeli public opinion turning into a decisive majority to end the Gaza conflict. In March 2025 polls had 60% of the population in support of continuing the Gaza intervention. By May, it had become 61% opposed to a continuation, and is now at 67% and expected to increase in the coming weeks. The support for remaining in Gaza has continued to drop, falling from a high of approx. 40% in May 2024 to 30% in May 2025.
  4. Deep. Very deep, man. Like the big Lebowski type of deep, You are describing most gyms. My friends go to gyms. They also do not smoke, or use drugs.
  5. Some of us thought it was a case of red roofing.
  6. Don't encourage it. You are enabling it.
  7. I appreciate that some people are annoyed. However, there is a reason for the verifying information in areas where visa abusers are more likely to be found. Please do not misinterpret this to mean that I support people being inconvenienced or stressed out. However, the additional checks are not really that onerous if you have the documentation. No one who "brings money" through legal and legitimate means is being kicked out. And by that, I refer to the people who are investing large sums of money and stimulating the economy. Someone who buys a condo time share, and who's idea of big spending is a night out at Sizzler is not doing much for the economy. I can assure you that the foreign professionals who work at Ford, Toyota, Allianz, Exxon Mobil, Huawei, Nissan, Samsung, etc. don't have any problems. The reality is that in all the years that this forum has been running, I have yet to see a foreign employee of one of Thailand's valuable foreign investors ever complain about immigration requirements. They seem to manage.
  8. His statement was not critical of Israel. Rather it was a misrepresentation of financial activity as a subsidy of Israel. It is not a subsidy, and directly benefits the USA because it is provided as grants under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program, funds that Israel must use to purchase U.S. military equipment and services. The USA has directly benefited from Israeli R&D. US$500 million a year is slated for Israeli and joint U.S.-Israeli missile defense programs, in which the two countries collaborate on the research, development, and production of these systems used by Israel, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow II. Iron Dome was solely developed by Israel, but the United States has been a production partner since 2014 and is now benefiting from those missile systems. Trump's missile defense plan for the USA is going to use this technology. The US military aid to Israel provides a guaranteed revenue stream for U.S. defense contractors, without which the US defense industry would not be able to maintain its output capability or skilled workforce.
  9. It won't have any impact on tourism. The tourists who are staying at the local Marriott and paying 10,000 baht a day for their room and meals, will easily have access to a drink at the lounge. The long term tourists who are staying in a serviced apartment or condo rental will adjust their socializing hours, or just have their drink on their residence terrace. The majority of tourists who are physically active and/or here with their families, won't care, because they are here for the beach or golf. The majority of tourists who come from the middle east, SE Asia and China won't care either. The only people who will put up a stink are the low end western contingent and no one really cares about them.
  10. It is unfortunate that this subject is amusing to the misfit bigot contingent. Unfortunately, the people who die in these wars are the young, the conscripts. That means that somebody's 18-25 year old kid is going to die, or maybe come back with limbs missing. I feel for the parents, some of whom in this forum will have to worry about their child's safety in a needless conflict. My best friend is relieved that he has passed the age of deployment and won't be called back for active service. He lost friends in the south, and many of his original unit carry the trauma of violent exchanges, IEDS and the loss of limbs, hearing or eyesight. The Thai military has seen a large part of its core experienced NCO cadre age out, and this makes a conflict more risky.
  11. Or the surf capital of the middle east. The Gaza beaches are reportedly some of the best in the region and if cleaned of their plastic waste and trash that the locals dump, has great potential. It could be developed into the resort destination for Russians and Europeans.
  12. it is jot a subsidy. The military aid serves two purposes: 1. It provides a platform for US presence, in a stable country, that is loyal to the USA. 2. The funding pays for US services and products and is in effect an indirect subsidy to the US companies. The technology tested and proven in Israel is then taken up by the USA. The Patriot missile system is an example. The Trophy APS which defends US tanks is another. The electronic warfare systems in the F35 are are derived from israeli technology and so on. You obviously do not like Israel and are using this forum as a platform to further your political bias. Why not be honest and just state that you are anti Israel and want it eliminated? Why are you so afraid of being open about your intent?
  13. Trump did say that Netanyahu is of use to him and that losing him now harms efforts to strike deals in Gaza and with Iran. Netanyahu is the only who can force his right wing coalition to go along. It was Netanyahu who agreed to terms under the Abraham accords, and who has kept peace with Jordan and Egypt despite multiple conflicts in the region. It is Netanyahu who is trying to normalize relations with Syria and now, Lebanon. The reality of course is that the Israeli court system will deal with Netanyahu without interference. Taking down national politicians on corruption charges is a national sport in Israel. A quick look at Wikipedia shows a list of mayors and cabinet ministers who were nailed for inappropriate conduct. It is actually nice to see that corrupt people get their comeuppance at some point. I think the Israeli public is quite tired of Netanyahu and his coalition of extremists and self serving buffoons. He is barely hanging on in a coalition of 6 political parties who are only interested in serving their own vested interests. It is no longer a question of when Netanyahu faces the judges, but when.
  14. They did give it to Yasser Arafat, even though he rejected a peace agreement, didn't they?
  15. And how does an opinion piece written in 2010 in respect to San Francisco, apply to NYC in 2025? I could cite an article from the 1950's citing the high incidence of lynchings in some US counties. I don't think the situation is applicable to the current situation.
  16. Well, if one looks at who is in the Hua Hin sex trade, bestiality is the appropriate term. Perhaps animal husbandry might be more polite, I suppose.
  17. There are some who say that Pattaya isn't safe because of the presence of angry old bitter UK nationals.
  18. Another data dump. It looks impressive, but doesn't support your claim. I suppose you think that if you throw up all sorts of references, people will think you are so smart and accept your biased claims? Let's look at some of the links; Safewise: It shows that some of the most "dangerous" cities are in Republican states. For example, Memphis, TN, Lubbock, TX, Little Rock, AR. Citing the bogeyman of California doesn't work out either, because the high crime city of Bakersfield, CA has a non partisan mayor, neither republican, nor Republican and anyone who knows the region knows that it leans Republican. Buck Owens and his Buckaroos came from there. Using your logic, one could say that because of the high number of republican voters, the violence is a result. Of course this would be an incorrect interpretation, but so too are your attempts to blame democrat mayors for local crime rates. https://counciloncj.org/crime-trends-in-u-s-cities-year-end-2024-update/ Certainly does not support your claim. It states; Examining trends over a longer timeframe, most violent crimes are at or below levels seen in 2019, the year prior to the onset of the COVID pandemic and racial justice protests of 2020. There were 6% fewer homicides in the study cities in 2024 than in 2019. Similarly, sexual assault (-26%), domestic violence (-11%), and robbery (-19%) were lower in 2024 than in 2019. In contrast, aggravated assaults (+4%), gun assaults (+5%), and carjackings (+25%) were higher in 2024 than in 2019. Violent crime rates ha If violent crime is reducing, your claim is not supported. The Pew research you refer to does not support your claims either. Did you read it? Using the FBI data, the violent crime rate fell 49% between 1993 and 2022, with large decreases in the rates of robbery (-74%), aggravated assault (-39%) and murder/nonnegligent manslaughter (-34%). It’s not possible to calculate the change in the rape rate during this period because the FBI revised its definition of the offense in 2013. The FBI data also shows a 59% reduction in the U.S. property crime rate between 1993 and 2022, with big declines in the rates of burglary (-75%), larceny/theft (-54%) and motor vehicle theft (-53%). Using the BJS statistics, the declines in the violent and property crime rates are even steeper than those captured in the FBI data. Per BJS, the U.S. violent and property crime rates each fell 71% between 1993 and 2022. Now you have gone from pushing the false claim that Democrat mayors are responsible for high crime rates, to blaming the "ruling party" . Fine. However, the highest rates of violent crime are in republican controlled states. It goes hand in hand with their rates of child poverty, and low levels of education. Maybe there is a link between poverty, few educational opportunities and violent crime? You can't even be truthful when you refer to Proposition 47 in California. It was a citizen initiative, passed by referendum. That means it is something the electorate wanted. The proposition was needed to address prison overcrowding, and to reduce the high cost of incarcerating nonviolent crimes. The state taxpayers had a choice, spend billions more on putting people in prison, or try and divert these people to less expensive programs. The reality is that since most shoplifting cases involved amounts under $400, the proposition did not change prosecutions after the change in the threshold. The reason why so many stores backed off from interfering with shoplifters was due to litigation. Juries were awarding large settlements to shoplifters who were injured when security took them down. Bystanders were suing because of collateral damage and for things like emotional distress. Employees were claiming for large amounts when they were injured taking down shoplifters. Those juries were made up of people just like you, sticking it to the "man". You cannot even be truthful when referring to California AB 1333. Personal defense and the "Castle Doctrine" is untouched. Someone breaks into a home, and presents a threat and the occupant who kills, still retains the right of defense. The change is being sought to prevent violent criminals from engaging in shootouts in public spaces, and using self defence as a justification. It is intended to address nutcases who provoke confrontations and fights and then claim self-defense when they do harm. It happens in road rage where a person harasses other drivers and then attempts to shoot that person. it happens in gang wars when gang members engage in shoot outs in shopping malls. It makes clear that there is a duty to avoid violence in public spaces, with the goal of preventing injury to bystanders when people start firing off their guns. The NRA is opposed to the change. In effect, all that you have done is to regurgitate extreme right wing political crap.
  19. Help out the non US nationals. Do tell them the demographic. Is it elderly transgenders? Young SE Asians? Students from Lesotho? who is this demographic. Don't be shy.
  20. No. There was an additional $77 million from the state budgeted for the year for ongoing increased police presence. The state budget makes Investments in Increased Law Enforcement Presence, Supports Further Installation of New Protective Barriers And LED Lighting. The NYC MTA has an ongoing Fare Evasion effort that has resulted in an 11% drop in fare evasion. Subway crime has decreased by Down 11% YTD in 2025 and 16 Percent Compared to Pre-Pandemic Levels in 2019
  21. What is your source because I verified with multiple data bases before I commented. For example; https://www.thirdway.org/report/the-21st-century-red-state-murder-crisis - The red state murder rate was 33% higher than the blue state murder rate in both 2021 and 2022. - 2022 was the 23rd consecutive year that murder plagued Trump-voting states at far higher levels than Biden-voting states. 8 out of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in 2022 voted for Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020. - From 2000 to 2022, the average red state murder rate was 24% higher than the average blue state murder rate. - Red states like Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama are America’s murder capitals and have had the highest three murder rates for 15 of the last 23 years. - The excuse that sky high red state murder rates are because of their blue cities is without merit. Even after removing the county with the largest city from red states, and not from blue states, red state murder rates were still 20% higher in 2021 and 16% higher in 2022. Simpletons offer broad generalizations with the sole intent of supporting their biased political claims. The reality is that there something that people with common sense readily appreciate; The partisanship of mayors has no detectable effect on police spending, police employment, crime, or arrests Science Advances 15 Jan 2025 Vol 11, Issue 3 DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.adq8052 This study examined data from 400 U.S. cities over nearly three decades and found the political affiliation of mayors made little difference when it comes to crime rates and policing. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2025/01/whos-softer-on-crime-democrats-or-republicans/
  22. Spay and neuter would mean that there would no longer be puppies.
  23. Don't tell me when I can have a drink. If there is a problem with some passengers, ban them from the airport or airline, fine or incarcerate offenders, but don't bother me.
  24. Some assumptions are made about the mother which are unfair. Maybe she had no other option, but the surrender of the children. A mother, unless psychologically deficient, loves her child, and is emotionally damaged when forced to give up that child. The negative opinions are coming from elderly men, some of whom probably had failed marriages or unhappy relations with the bargirl they married. It is reasonable for any adopted person to want to know what their family history is especially as it relates to medical history. It is the dysfunctional person who does not wish to know of their ancestors.
  25. And once again the propagandists are out in force, not letting accuracy or actual data get in the way of their ignorant claims. New York City has 8.5 million+ residents. Its crime data will reflect its population size and the fact that it is the collection point for many of the state's mentally ill. Despie that, New York has a violent crime rate below the national level OK. And what of the cities which are in hardcore Republican states that have significantly higher rates of violent crime? Your logic holds that we should say the crime is a reflection of the Republicans. Some of the highest violent crime rates are in Texas, Alabama and Florida. Salt Lake City, Utah ranks first for rape and larceny theft among small-sized cities. Your logic holds that Republicans and Mormons are to blame. The event you refer to had circumstances that necessitated an investigation which led to sufficient evidence to obtain a grand jury indictment. If there had not been a reasonable basis to prosecute for negligent homicide because of the manner in which the deceased was choked to death, the grand jury would not have indicted. The end result was that a criminal trial found that there was reasonable doubt and acquitted the accused of negligent homicide. What are some of your other user names? Asking on behalf of those of us who are trying to keep track of the multi name members. When did New York city obtain the right to change state and federal criminal law?
