  1. The charge is still there. For reference sake, my round trip on TG to Tokyo next month is invoiced with these charges in Thai baht; Advance Passenger Processing User Charge 68 International Arrival & Departure Fees 30 Passenger Service Charge - Thailand(TS) 728 826 Yes, I understand that the fee is chump change, but I really doubt that the fees are entirely used for the stated purposes and that is what irks me.
  2. No one is victim blaming. You are however having a hissy fit over nothing. You paid 10,000 baht for an entry level 50" TV. In 1985, a 20 inch TV cost 40,000 baht+ and did not offer anywhere near the features on the current base TV models. Samsung manufactures most of its Thai market mobile phones in Thailand. The recent quality phone issues are specific to Thailand manufacturing issues. The Samsung televisions sold in Thailand are mostly sourced from Vietnam and there are few quality issues reported on the products. Because someone on a youtube channel offers an opinion that there is an issue with a Samsung TV component does not make it a fact. Hundreds of thousands of Samsung Televisions are sold in Thailand and relatively few manufacturing defects are reported. When they are, they typically show up within the first 90 days of use. Yes, you may have a dud or a product that had an issue before its time. However, you do not know if your TV was subject to a power surge or an incident when you were not around. You are angry because your relatively inexpensive Television is no longer in warranty. You have an unreasonable expectation when you froth over the refusal to provide warranty service. You are upset that the service has an estimated min, cost of 6,000 baht/USD 175 /137 Pound/ AUD 268/ EURO 165 Euro. Seriously, get a grip. That's nothing. This is the reality of consumer electronics. In respect to internet speeds, yes Thailand reports some high speed capability. The reality though is that the speeds are actually averages and consumers do not obtain the advertised high speeds. Outside of urban areas with their government hubs and universities, the broadband speeds are much, much lower on a daily consistency basis than is stated. The current Thai average is running below 250 mbps and reflects the impact of the high speed clusters. https://www.speedtest.net/global-index/thailand 250 is still excellent, but it is not 1000mbps. In order to have the fastest internet speeds, one must connect to a fiber optic system and presently, less than 25% of Thailand is located within 10 km of such a system, and those that do have access are in the larger urban centers. Yes, it is unfortunate your TV broke down, but getting upset over a relatively small repair expense serves no purpose.. It's a minor expense and the cost of having consumer convenience.
  3. No worries. He is now selling coffee. He sells 2 lb / 907 g tins for $29.99 plus shipping. In contrast Walmart offers the same amount of coffee for $13.50 and Starbucks is approx. $20.00 How the mighty have fallen. I doubt the former Mrs. G. is too heartbroken. On April 4, 2018, Judith Giuliani filed for divorce from Rudy Giuliani. It was related in part to the "Maria Rosa Ryan” affair, the hospital administrator with whom Rudy was caught spending a night at a New Hampshire hotel and exposed in its sordid detail in the New York Post. The divorce was settled on December 10, 2019. Unfortunately, 3 years later, Judith Giuliani was forced to file a lawsuit against Rudy for non-compliance regarding the divorce settlement. It looks like he repeated some of the delays and obfuscations of that court case with the recent Georgia case, which may explain why the judge has not allowed any wiggle room for Rudy this time.
  4. If you will need dialysis, you obviously have kidney issues and would be better off situated close to a hospital. There are 3 decent hospitals in Hua Hin with Bangkok and San Paulo being the easiest to get to. The last thing you want to do is to have to travel all over the place for things. Hua Hin has all the supplies you need and there are enough restaurants that are used to people asking for low sodium dishes. One of the issues you will have as a dialysis patient is the diet you have to follow, and that means sometimes accessing the large retailers to access the low sodium and reduced potassium options. Something as basic as finding canned salmon or tuna in water and not oil can be an annoyance outside the big city. In respect to dialysis, before you go on the hospital format, which requires a visit 3X a week @ 4 hours or more each session and can leave you exhausted, please give some consideration to home dialysis. You do it yourself at home using a home machine. This can be done once a day, or at night. Another option depending on your disease state, is peritoneal dialysis that you do daily, sometimes 1X or up to 4X a day. It requires a permanent catheter in your abdomen that is easily concealable under clothing. You have options other than visiting the hospital which can be time consuming and expose you to multiple sick people.
  5. Did that justify the murder of all aboard the Malaysian Airliner that the Russian backed militia shot down using russian anti aircraft missiles?
  6. The bashing of Samsung would be more understandable if it wasn't so emotional. The original complaint comes from a person who is upset because an out of warranty product will not be repaired as if it is under warranty. An unknown model was purchased from Lotus over a year ago. We are not told if it was heavily used item, if it has been knocked over a few times or had liquids poured on it. (Consumers with broken items, rarely admit to this.) One doesn't know if the it was a higher end model, or an older demo model. The OP says he paid approx. 10,000 baht. According to the Samsung price list, that's the cost of the most basic of 50" TVs. A low cost in itself is not an excuse for a device that breaks down after 14 months, but one can get a good idea what the TV is. Here's a reality check: Samsung has one of the highest reliability ratings of all the TV manufacturers. The humidity and temperature conditions of Thailand are very different than the moderate temperatures of western Europe and they have an impact on a consumer electronic's performance and longevity. Today's TVs are not made to last for a long time for the simple reason that technology keeps changing and what was cutting edge 5 years ago, is often obsolete 5 years later. My Panasonic of 7 years ago wouldn't be able to run Netflix today. For reference sake; South Korea is where the top end of Samsung's products (e.g. high quality QLED and 8K ) are manufactured and few of these TVs are exported to Thailand because they are too expensive or require high speed internet which is not readily available in Thailand, outside of Bangkok. Vietnam: Most of the TVs seen in Thailand are manufactured here. They are for the local regional market and the quality reflects the low purchase cost. Samsung obtains its components inhouse and depending upon the model will outsource the manufacture of its components to third party suppliers. These same suppliers provide similar parts to other Television manufacturers, some of whom are brands being praised in this thread. Look at who some of the suppliers are; https://www.samsung.com/us/aboutsamsung/sustainability/supply-chain/supplier-list/ One thing that Samsung has that is different than some of the other manufacturers, is its intensive quality control and testing process. Yes, the control processors can suffer defects in the Samsung (and LG and Panasonic models), but that's more of a reflection of Intel quality, not Samsung. Ever since Covid, there has been a worldwide shortage of semi conductors and it has impacted all manufacturers. and forced the use of parts that may not necessarily be of the same high quality that was present 5 years ago. Unfortunately, it is an issue that faces every manufacturer of consumer electronics that require the chips and processors. The reality is that Samsung is still one of the best quality TVs available. No, this does not excuse the poor service response, but that's a local Thai issue, not a Samsung issue.
  7. What's your problem? Are you upset because of the UK's provision of support to prevent wide scale social collapse in Ukraine? Would you rather see the hospitals go without supplies and children starve because Russia chose to target food warehouses and power supply?
  8. How so? Is she qualified to interpret satellite imaging and military ship movements? Is she a recognized expert in military matters? Is she considered an expert at military message deciphering? The South Korean evidence relies in large part on that type of information. What was spun? You offer a person with knowledge of North Korean food policy and of UN social assistance aid for North Korea as a military expert.
  9. If you are referring to the plastic items that include the 2 plastic screws that attach the seat to the toilet bowl, these are available in most places that will have basic plumbing supplies. Homepro comes to mind. I once saw a set at my local Lotus in the "hardware" aisle . DIY might have.
  10. What's your point? I previously explained why the court returned the vehicles. It is not because the brothers are innocent of wrongdoing. As part of the appeal of the charges, Tate's legal counsel argued that the vehicles should be returned until the case was decided. The court agreed. The seizure can only be effected once the appeal is decided. Once the decision is made that the charges from 2022 and from 2024 can proceed, then a seizure order can again be considered. The Tate brothers defense has to date relied on the contesting of legal technicalities. The delays are not attributable to the prosecution, but are defense related. Also, the seized goods must reflect the damages sustained. The courts long ago ruled that if the damages are are X value, then the items seized should not be excessive, ie. 3X or more.
  11. Never heard of him as it was before my time. Shocked at the calibre. For what it is worth, thanks for this.
  12. You are wrong. Tate's defense counsel have been following a strategy of objection which has delayed the trial on the charges. There are multiple cases pending and it is not unusual that the case has not proceeded to trial. It can sometimes take years before a trial occurs as various motions are filed and contested. In this case, the Tate brothers, were first indicted in mid-2023 in a human trafficking and sexual exploitation case. The trial is delayed until the basis of the charge is resolved at the Bucharest court of appeals. New charges were added in August 2024. Wrong. There were 3 asset seizures. In 2022, Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (Diicot) took 11 luxury vehicles , and 10 properties or land owned by companies registered to the Tates . In early January 2023 another four vehicles and other assets were seized. Romania’s National Agency for the Administration of Unavailable Assets seized a total of 15 luxury cars, 14 designer watches and cash in several currencies. Total value estimated at USD $3.9 million. The basis for the seizure are that the assets are the proceeds of crime and would be used to pay for the investigation and pay damages to victims if they are convicted. Tate appealed the seizure in January 2024 and the court ruled AGAINST him in March 2024. In April 2024 the court ruled that the Tate brothers will face trial on charges of rape and human trafficking. In August 2024, new charges of forming an organised criminal group, human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering. As part of this case 4 more vehicles were seized. As part of the appeal of the charges, Tate's legal counsel argued that the vehicles should be returned until the case was decided. The court agreed. The seizure can only be effected once the appeal is decided. You are correct. Everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence even horrid humans like the Tate brothers.
  13. For now, but like the other dead, he will soon be forgotten. How many martyrs from The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (AMB) can you remember or name? Killing and dying is their culture. They would be lost without having "martyrs". Women breed to create martyrs. Have a look at this lovely woman https://www.memri.org/tv/libyan-show-host-afaf-mohsen-praises-palestinians-many-children-for-death-martyrdom-offspring-bombs In a May 19, 2023 show on Libya Mostakbal TV, Libyan show host Afaf Abdel Mohsen praised the Palestinian people for having so many children in order to "push" them towards death and martyrdom. She said that Palestinian mothers raise their children on resistance and the "honor of returning to this land, using their blood, by sacrificing them."
  14. Hamas under Sinwar refused every ceasefire, even when the other Hamas leaders had agreed. He wanted to die and got his wish.
  15. No. Because someone is called a "leading expert", does not validate the person's views or impart accuracy. The person cited as an expert, does indeed have an understanding of North Korea, particularly its social policies. However, she is not an expert in military intelligence interpretation, nor in the North Korean military. Her expertise is in social policy. She made her name as an "expert" when she was employed by the UN and lived in North Korea where she was an advocate for the lifting of certain sanctions applied on North Korea. If she were commenting on social policy , then yes, she could be considered an expert. However, she is now commenting on the interpretation of ship movements, of satellite images and the deciphering of messages and financial transactions between North Korea and Russia and this is an area of expertise for which she has no training, nor experience. You also ignore the fact that whatever Russia is doing with North Korea, may not necessarily have had the agreement, nor even full support of China. China has been pursuing a broadening of relations with South Korea and one of its arguments in favour of closer relations is that it holds itself out as having influence over North Korea. Russia may be annoying China with its use of the Korean slave labour for war. It was one thing to use it for construction and mine work, but waging war in Europe is something quite different.
  16. You still do not understand the Monroe doctrine and how it is applied. The Monroe doctrine states that the affairs of the Americas are to be be managed by the Americas. It is in now way comparable to the Russian expansionism. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a European based event and the EU has responded. Russia has violated the sovereign agreed upon borders of another nation and has sought to annex land that is designated as another nation's. Russia has created an international refugee crisis forcing millions of Ukraine nationals to flee. This has therefore become an international issue since the Ukraine is not taking care of the refugees it has created. Russia has allied itself with state sponsors of international terrorism, Iran and North Korea. Russia is evil.
  17. Have you ever tried to take a baggage trolley on the escalator at Bangkok Airport? Somehow, I seem to recall reading about your exploits in that regard some years ago.
  18. If Russia is worried, Iran will be worried to. Nothing increase oil prices like a regional conflict. Even if the Gulf is disrupted, oil will still be able to move. Iran will send its oil through Turkey. Qatari, Chinese and Indian operated oil tankers will move unharmed.
  19. You obviously do not understand the Monroe Doctrine. Your misinterpretation ignores what is occurring in 2024. .In the early 1800's when President Monroe made his case, the USA had a small military with practically no navy and no foreign military capability. The Monroe Doctrine at the time was a statement against the continuing European colonial presence and meddling in the domestic affairs of the Americas, and described such activities as potentially harmful to the USA. On the contrary, the Monroe Doctrine is now interpreted an argument on behalf of a regional consensus to act multilaterally and without the intervention of foreign powers in the affairs of the Americas. This why the OAS was founded in the late 1930's to allow for the many nations of the Americas to work together and to minimize the potential for further interference by foreign powers such as Spain, France, Netherlands, and Great Britain.
  20. You have gone from denying the involvement of North Korean conscripted slave soldiers, to now saying it is acceptable and fabricating justification for the use of foreign military units deployed by Russia to attack Ukraine. It's bad enough that North Korean slave labour is sold to Russia to work in its deadly mines and toxic factories, but now Russia is using enslaved North Koreans to kill Ukrainians. The argument to block Ukraine from using western long range missiles is now voided.
  21. South Korea has provided documentation as per its press release; https://www.nis.go.kr/CM/1_4/view.do?seq=320 The National Intelligence Service announced on October 18,that North Korea began moving special forces for dispatch to Russia on October 8. - In August 2024 South Korean NIS recorded Kim Jong-sik, first vice director of the Munitions Industry Department, a key figure in North Korea's missile development, visiting a North Korean KN-23 missile launch site near the Russian-Ukrainian front several times with dozens of North Korean military officers and providing on-site guidance. - Between Oct. 8 and Oct. 12, the NIS recorded North Korea transporting special forces to Russian territory via a Russian naval transport ship, confirming the start of the North Korean military's participation in the war. - South Korea's NIS reports that four landing ships and three escort ships belonging to the Russian Pacific Fleet completed the first transport of approximately 1,500 North Korean special forces from the areas near Chongjin, Hamhung, and Musudan (Attachment 1) to Vladivostok, Russia during the same period, and a second transport operation is scheduled to take place soon. - The North Korean soldiers dispatched to Russia are currently stationed at Russian military bases in the Far East, including Vladivostok, Ussuriysk (Appendix 2), Khabarovsk (Appendix 3), and Blagoveshchensk, and are expected to be deployed to the front lines as soon as they complete their adaptation training. - Kim Jong-un inspected the special forces twice prior to the deployment, on the 11th of last month and the 2nd of this month (Attachment 4). - The North Korean soldiers were issued Russian military uniforms and Russian-made weapons, and were also issued fake ID cards of residents of the Yakutia and Buryatia regions of Siberia (Appendix 5) who looked similar to North Koreans. It appears that they disguised themselves as Russian soldiers to hide the fact that they were deployed to the battlefield. - The NIS has documented its estimate that North Korea had provided Russia military weapons and munitions amounting to over 13,000 containers (Attached Files 6 and 7) on approximately 70 occasions since August of 2023. - The NIS says that it is confirming the observation by foreign media regarding ‘direct military cooperation between Russia and North Korea’ Photo evidence Provided by South Korea Government (Attachment 1) Activities of Russian ships for the purpose of transporting North Korean troops (10.12)ㆍSynopsis of Russian landing ships transporting North Korean troops in the East Sea (Attachment 2) Military facility in Ussuriisk, Primorsky Krai (estimated 400 North Korean personnel gathered in parade ground, 10.16) (Attachment 3) Military facility in Khabarovsk (estimated number of North Korean personnel: 240 people gathered, 10.16) (Attachment 4) Photo of Kim Jong-un observing special warfare training (9.11) (Attachment 6) Russian ship (Angara) carrying North Korean weapons departing from Najin Port (Attachment 7) Russian ship (Lady R) carrying North Korean weapons departing from Najin Port (Attachment 😎 Phoenix-4 (Attachment 9) Remnants of North Korean KN-23 captured by Ukrainian forces (Attachment 10) North Korean multiple rocket launcher (left) and North Korean 9M113 anti-tank missile (right) acquired by the Ukrainian military Russia is trying to start WW III with the use of North Korean personnel. These foreign military personnel should be stopped at the source.
  22. It is not about me. Why is it that when you are given actual undeniable facts, when the lies are challenged , you do everything to deny the truth and instead try to deflect?
  23. Your praise for the bus is laughable. First off, if you want a guaranteed seat, the cost is Fare 143 THB + Online Service Charge 25 THB for Total 168 THB PLUS the cost of the minibus to get to the hotel or common area where a taxi must be hailed. The minibus transfer driver drives like a lunatic. It is all part of the singular experience. It is the same bus company to Hua Hin and I stopped using the bus years ago. Rudeness and poor customer service.
  24. I nominate you for today's ignorant and racist comment award. How is being born in Taiwan exotic? There are in excess of 1.5 billion ethnic Chinese in the world. If you consider an elderly Chinese American lady exotic, I suggest you get out of the trailer park more often. Elaine Chao is 71 .5 years old, and a Harvard MBA. There is an 11 year difference between her and Mitch. In contrast, Melania Knaus has no advanced education, and there is a 24 years difference with Trump, They are very different. Former Secretary Chao is an accomplished business person, public servant and volunteer for multiple charities. She lives with her husband and enjoys a close relationship. Melania Knaus worked as a fashion model and allegedly was a "companion" for some older men. Melania lives apart from her "husband".
