  1. Tried that a few years ago in Bangkok Bank, they copied both passports and the passbook (the copies had to signed by me), filled in 2 forms (sign again) then spent nearly 5 mins typing into the computer, said all done. Returned to few weeks later to withdraw some money, lo and behold the new passport was not in the system, luckily I got a sensible one who accepted the old passport number in the transfer stamps at the front of the passport and there and then changed the computer no problems since.
  2. I get the same looks when I go shopping with my daughter, whose 1/2 Thai, 1/2 British, and 16, she likes to hold onto my arm when we are walking through the car park, loses interest quickly inside as there are too many things to look at with a view to buying.
  3. I proposed to both of them in the last 9 months, to make the payments into my Thai bank account (the one they have both used in the past and hence should already be in their records) however their list of requirements to do so made it next to impossible, namely 1) Monthly bank statements showing my address and the bank address in English 2) Copies of utilities bills (in English) showing me as the customer & my address, and cannot be for mobile phones, Wi-Fi connections or subscription TV channels, (that leaves only one PEA and it's in the wife's name being the house owner in the blue book) 3) Embassy certified proof of address There were more, but I gave up at this point, and don't remember. As I am stuck with maintaining a UK account with no UK address, don't know where I'll be in the future, as yet I haven't claimed DWP pension.
  4. is that the time of the National Anthem in say Australia, which is 2/3 hours ahead of us
  5. Both my private pension providers have refused to pay my pensions into my Wise account despite having a UK Sort Code and Account Number. Basis of rejection was that Wise is a Financial Institution and not a bank, pensions must be paid into bank accounts.
  6. You haven't cottoned on to his thinking, diseases and COVID-19 are contracted by drinking alcohol, and it used to be after 9pm hence the curfews.
  7. They didn't even turn up when we were broken into (a wooden window shutter was forced from the outside), all they said was tell us who did it and we'll go and arrest them.
  8. It will have to be for the cars as the majority pedestrians only use bridges for shade from the sun
  9. Not just the Post Office the whole country, justification based on my local office requirements 1) excess stamps for 90 day report or fuel to go there and currently 8 photocopies per visit (OK online now is excellent) 2) fuel to travel to get "their" TM7 and 4 associated forms, cannot use fillable online version 3) flimsiest of excuses to make you go get more photos for your submission 4) bank letters and now annual statements as well as copies of the passbook pages, only copied pages back to 2018 for 2021 submission, no it has to be the entire book i.e. back to 2014 Total Pack to be submitted next year stands at something like 26 pages for a retirement extension Apologies for the rant, need to get it off my chest, again, at least the local office is local and not 700+ kilometers round trip as was the case before
  10. They've probably left it on their "standing orders" of things to do, because it is only a temporary suspension and re-instituting the practice after stopping will be troublesome, and it is no real hardship to the staff. Yes, I know it smarts of good logical thinking and not the normal level that we experience here.
  11. When I was doing mail-in reports (due to a 300km round trip) the Immigration guidelines said 10 Baht, the IO said 5 Baht and the post office kept saying 3 Baht, so I went with the 3 Baht stamp, I'd no problems, other than late returns (e.g. 3 weeks, which I blamed the Post Office for), but 1 or 2 others using the same office kept getting "told off" for using 5 Baht stamps by notes added to their receipt telling them the correct fee is 10 Baht.
  12. sounded very much like a scam, and was ready for the delivery driver when he asked for delivery cost, he'd have left eating the package.
  13. maybe now he'll have time to get a haircut as opposed to being dragged backwards through the hedge row
  14. Once when travelling back from Bangkok the phone rang, as I was driving I handed it to my wife who listened then passed it her sister, apparently I'd won a free Nokia and they were needing delivery details. It arrived the following day and nothing to pay either, a brand new model, so not all are scams. One of the best phones I've ever owned.
  15. how would it backfire on them they had the 600 Baht already.
  16. Doesn't always work, a friend of mine a few years ago dropped his wife at the hotel door as it raining heavily, she went in to register, while he parked the car and brought in their bags. All was ok, room allocated, paid for (600 Baht) and key handed over, as soon as he walked in the door it was "your husband farang 300 Baht more".
  17. 20 years since I was put in the house book (the blue one initially) corrected 17 years ago, and I've been using the yellow book as proof of address ever since, not just have the bank(s) refused to use the yellow book / pink card ID, even the DLT wouldn't use it for my driving license, Oh no for foreigners we must use the passport number.
  18. Your lucky, I cannot even deposit money into the bank accounts of my children using my Pink ID card, I have to produce my passport or they will not accept the money.
  19. like eating the last delivery
  20. walk, wash your mouth out, all that rain and sun it's not good for the complexion. even to go to the house next door or the other side of a narrow soi many have to use their motorcycle
  21. Just buy things you can get "Cash on Delivery" and you will have no problem with card fraud.
  22. I have kept the e-mail they sent with the password, so use copy and paste to ensure I get it right, have done initial report + a further 2 reports this way, no problems yet, except when I miscounted days before.
