UK Pension Service - Total Farse
foreverlomsak replied to piston broke's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
As far as I'm aware it has never been 64 (unless under ill health rules), it changed from 65 to 66 in 2016 when the government changed to the "New State Pension" at that time they also changed NI pension years from 30 to 35 to get max pension. -
LTR and 90-day Reports
foreverlomsak replied to HerewardtheWake's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
online maybe maybe my memory is wrong but I'm sure I read in here that they weren't required -
Quite agree. My office gives me every year a number of documents that require to be signed and returned when applying for an extension, 1 of which is Overstay Penalties, 2nd being the Financial Requirements for Retirement and 3rd is General Terms & Conditions.

For my 2020 extension I copied bankbook pages for the past year (which actually went back to 2018), not good enough had to copy the book back to 2014 (when I opened the account)

As do I, or at least not very much English, they are scared (too strong a word really) to say anything in case they get it wrong. My daughter speaks English reasonably well with me, but will not speak with other English speakers. Big difference in my village, most of the women appear to be the bread winners, in that there is always big groups of them gathered round a house or 2, cleaning and grading the various seasonal crops from the surrounding fields. There are a few men there doing the same but tend to be of the older generation, who are not able to do heavy lifting or work in the fields. When pick-ups pass by the house in the early hours to go to the fields or return in the evenings, they tend to be 75% women. The men who do the heavy lifting, the big baskets of crops in and out of the pick-ups, etc., and act as drivers tend to be of mid-range age and rest up during loads. The younger men and girls (pre-teens, teens and twenties) just scoot about on motorcycles with friends or getting drinks and food, while the older children look after (or not) the younger ones. There is a lot of generalization in the above, and is probably miles off reality, as I only see a fraction of what happens day by day around my house, but it is still my perception after 17 years. One item that is noticeable is the amount of young males who fly around the village on motorbikes with a rooster under their arm (and it's not cooked either).

So called Artificial Intelligence (AI)
foreverlomsak replied to scottiejohn's topic in IT and Computers
good question, they do seem to need to take the phone with them.......... -
Why would they ask a retiree to produce a wife? It's not mandatory to have one? It could even be a problem, during my first extension submission, the wife of the couple in front of us was demanding Immigration reject her husband's extension request and send him home (all in Thai of course), while her husband was gazing around the office oblivious and the officer was trying to explain to her that all the documents were OK and they were still married, so he had no reason to reject the application, her reply to that was "I don't want him anymore".

Down side is the financials, 800K in Thai bank for 2 months before application (some offices still want 3 months) the same 800K for 3 months after and 400K for remainder of year Alternatives are available like Embassy letter of income min of 65K foreign transfer each and every month or combination of monthly transfer and money in bank (not all offices accept this option)

Fees for cardless withdrawal coming
foreverlomsak replied to digbeth's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's not your money while they have it, you gave it to them remember, and now you're daring to asking for it back. Why shouldn't you get it back for free, you pay an annual fee for the ATM card and using the ATM means they save money on branches and counter staff, also they lend it out to others and gain interest on the loans. -

Are we real or imagination like the movies Matrix and Surrogate. Anybody else think this is going too far, only contact with others is via AI in which you don't need to be involved (maybe a good idea with some individuals).???? It produces the first item in a thread, then produces replies (takes "I didn't say that, Oh! yes you did" a la Christmas pantomimes, to a completely new level especially with Thai deformation laws), self-moderates the threads and all with no human interface. Soon no need to read or speak. AI will decide when you want a beer or when you want to visit the swimming pool, etc. Scary.???????? -
Like the heaps of non-British being caught by Immigration on overstay or working without permission in the UK, if they cannot find a passport for them, they cannot be returned to home countries, told they must report to the local police once a week or whatever, so are released and sent on their way.

Children with Thai Passports to UK
foreverlomsak replied to KannikaP's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Worked with my son, left UK using UK passport, entered and left Thailand with Thai passport, re-entered UK with UK passport, not even a raised eyebrow, was 19 years ago and he was only 5/6 months old, but have not heard of any changes. -
Yeah, they're good at not understanding their own regulations. One year I was told that my retirement application (also my fathers submitted at the same time) was not acceptable as we didn't have an Embassy letter confirming our income (mine would have been zero income), when I pointed out that we each had 1,600,000 Baht in a Thai bank account which was well in excess of requirements we did not need an Embassy letter, he insisted that we go and get them. With as much deference in my voice as I could muster I told him that I didn't think that was correct, as I couldn't see the requirement for both letter and money in bank in the on-line regulations and that the letters had never been asked for before, however, if he would be kind enough to show me the appropriate paragraphs I would obviously comply. He suggested as it was near lunchtime we go get something to eat and come back in a couple of hours, he would raise the issue with his colleague (who was having a disagreement with somebody over the rules) and give us a definitive ruling, i.e. letter required or not. We did not even get to the restaurant before the wife's phone rang and she was told to come back to get the stamps put in our passports, all is OK.

Quite agree with you, however Since I moved here in 2005, I've had 3 Home visits to my knowledge. First when I was definitely on a marriage extension, as I was still under 50. Third was definitely while on a retirement extension. The second was about the time I transferred from marriage to retirement (on Immigrations instructions), as they would not accept that I was married despite having at least 2 marriage extensions in my passport and having copies of KR2 and KR3 and a "note" from the head of the Amphoe/Ampher, stating that they had miss-filed the original of the "affirmation of freedom to marry", when they registered the marriage, and as such a copy could not be provided to Immigration. So makes sense or not, it's Immigrations choice, and by the way all visits were made by the local police, some in uniform and some in plain clothes, not by Immigration Officers.

Retirement Extension Phuket
foreverlomsak replied to phuketcouple's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not at all offices. I withdraw 1,900THB from ATM and get the book updated while waiting for the bank to open, then it's inside for the "Ownership" letter and the 12 month statement (which of course doesn't contain the ATM withdrawal).
